Well all of the dark blues look like they’re surrounding an orange circle, so I’m assuming a good chunk are people leaving the city
As much as people are moving to places like Texas and Florida for politics, it’s also a quality of life decision. I love living in NYC but as someone who works remote the idea of leaving is tempting. Lower to no state tax (14% less), warmer weather year round, my rent is expensive and the market is not cooling down. I can’t stand desantis or Abbott but I get it.
blue states safer than red states, but sure. also if you are moving for taxes, great, but I get into this argument with my dad living in NJ we have the best schools in the country, I actually got paid paternity, they are constantly fixing our roads, and so on. You get what you pay for with those shit tier states and their shit tier people
It's not as much a state vs state thing as much as it is a city vs suburbs or more rural thing when you look at it. Also, there's plenty of shit tier people in any state.
yeah agree re: people and sorry if that was combative, just annoys me when people bitch about taxes then also bitch about not having services and good schools - I get you were saying that’s why people were leaving and not necessarily advocating for
You'd have to pay me quite a lot of money to move to Florida and that's only because of the weather, much less any of the other shit that comes with living in Florida.
Damnit, came to post that life expectancy map this morning. Fuck it I’m doing it anyway because it’s a good account to follow.
