My negative experience with them is a few of them whine incessantly about officials/calls (far worse than any other school) and their coaches do nothing to stop it. One coach was even yelling at a 13 year old girl umping her first game (and he was wrong). I’m sure they are great kids though.
My youngest was in their daycare for a couple months before getting booted for being a 3 year old boy with a short attention span. Not a big fan of the place but I’m a bigger pussy.
The Keith Haring exhibit at The Walker is amazing if any of you MSP guys dig good art. I also love Hering so it hit home but damn it’s really, really good.
Late to the Edina discussion but want to add that their youth travel baseball coaches all wear Edina colored Js.
Seeing so many new black MN license plates around here in the NW exurban areas. Is this a Trumpy shitchud thing or people just think it looks cool?
I think it’s just an aesthetic thing. Apparently people were jealous of Iowa’s plates. I do kinda like the look but not enough to pay $30 a year.
I haven't seen any in Mpls/sp or the inner ring burbs, but see them on trucks all over the place NW of the city. Which is why I started to suspect it was some rwnj thing
Dawned on me that I've had my tabs in my console for months and I've been driving with them expired this whole time. Guess MPLS aint lying that they're not going to pull over for shit like that anymore, though I spose I drive in town less than ever now that we're in kingfield
Man it's been even better than we thought it would be. Everyone is so friendly, and it's crawling with kids my daughter's age. We're really excited for her to finish elem at Barton next year and then Justice Page Middle and Washburn High.
Neighbors across the street have had their power back since early afternoon but I’m still SOL. They better have this shit fixed by three tomorrow.
What a weird storm that was. We got smacked in the city but never really lose power here for obvious reasons
Shitload of downed trees by us - a ton looked like they were down from lightning strikes, not the wind/storm. But guess I should be grateful we didn’t get the hail that they got further out.
That storm was a real bastard. Didn't see fuck all on the radar all evening, but it was humid as hell at the cabin and that storm just blew up right over us all of a sudden. We're on the east side of a big lake in Alexandria, and watching that cumulus cloud develop over in the west was one of the creepiest things I've seen. It was past sun down but there was constant lightning so the whole thing was illuminated
second week here and don’t start my new job until a week from tomorrow. But I’m already annoyed by how many streets are ripped up, which is to say you can’t convince me they shouldn’t bury more power lines while they’re at it. One month until we get to move into the house.
The construction is bad every summer but there's so many major projects going on right now it feels way worse than usual
I've intentionally avoided uptown if possible so hopefully the work there helps that. I'm a city guy comfortable driving about anywhere but I've basically never seen a more poorly designed area for safety.
I made the mistake of driving in to Uptown recently. I won’t do that again for at least 2 years. I thought the road construction on France Ave was annoying but the stuff on Hennepin in uptown is way worse because it’s already such a challenge to use some of those side streets. The work on 494 has made 62 terrible too.
I’m sure it will be like Nicollet Mall where they spend a shit load of money, go way past schedule, and leave behind a far inferior street scape to what was their before the construction.
What the hell is going on in Linden Hills? We had some friends in town from Oslo saying around ~44th & Xerxes and it’s a god damn shitshow. Water service in that entire area is piped in from above ground. Then with the trees down and power outages throughout the neighborhood it was a complete catastrophe for them and a major pain to get anywhere
It really can't possibly be worse than it was, because it was the worst city planning decision I've ever seen, but I do not feel confident it will be close as awesome as it could/should be. A major opportunity to reshape that area, increase accessibility to Eat Street, improve transit, make the Greenway more accessible/safer, and add richness to community amenities in an area hard hit by the Chauvin riots. But it'll probably be car-centric and whiff on the opportunity. Just hoping for a few degrees better than the goddamn K-Mart.
Whoops Rabid I realize now you were talking about Nicollet Mall downtown instead of at nicollet/Lake. You're right about how Nicollet mall should be awesome but was made way worse.
Re: uptown construction Henn/Lake/Calhoun Square has been fucked for four years. Vacancy/crime/perceptions have hit it hard. In a way, this complete rebuild of Hennepin couldn't have come at a better time. It's obvious that the Uptown Cycle needed a reset. If the buildings' owners can get away from their own preset rent expectations once the construction is done, I have optimism that that area can improve. Lynlake is doing great frankly all things considered and Henn Lake is just too great of a location to not thrive somehow. But yeah, right now it is fucking awful
every retail business and restaurant is printing money right now if uptown can't bounce back after this its over the advocacy to keep the light rail from going through uptown another L that area did to itself
Rolled through the area a few weeks back to hit the zoos...ate at Erta Ale in St. Paul and it was incredible.
Inexplicably doesn’t connect to the separated lane on Hennepin I guess. Not sure why that is but can’t wait till the Henn/Lake construction is done
hello, coming in hot to for a couple of nights in October. Im a pinball nerd. I see the LITT pinball bar in the Lowry East neighborhood. How is that area? Also looking for some live music possibly (I lean more hard rock, punk, hardcore vibes) and cheap beer. And of a course a jucy lucy. Also the wedding im going to is in Brainerd. Is the easiest/cheapest way to get up there without renting a car the shuttle at the airport?
Gonna go a-door knockin for ms harris in wayzata this weekend. I'm sure to meet some really wonderful main st Americans!
