When Sportingw as setting defensive records with the Besler-Colin-Cesar/Uri trio they told Nielsen that he needed to make 1 insane save a match and that was it. With Opara healthy and the Ilie signing they've finally reached the same scenario and Melia has been the tits. .33 GAA so far (no other keeper within .5 goal).

Was a pretty quality of play week for our league. RSL started three U20 players and their best one (Justen Glad) is out injured. Marco Farfan might be the LB we've been waiting for...
That game sucked and Dom Cryer is such a bitch, but Sporting got the kind of game they wanted and Portland came hard but too late. Buttt...Marco Farfan has been a stud. Once he develops a bit more of a presence and feel coming forward he is a regular all-star imo. His defense is already one of the best I've seen at that position, reminds me of Villafana with more pure talent defensively.
Their ownership group is an eclectic mix. Pete Wentz (Fall Out Boy), Brandon McCarthy (Dodgers), diplo (DJ), now Drogba. Main guy owns Kona Grill. Sad that a slightly above average MLB pitcher albeit with a long career can make enough money to invest in Pro Soccer team, but a slightly above average MLS players can't make enough to invest in a Subway Franchisee.
All privately funded, helps demand on wait list, still should keep the charm that makes it such a special park, increased tax dollars for city through ticket sales. I'm so fucking stoked for this project, hopefully they can get it off the ground by the end of the season which is goal.
Was watching the sporting match at my buddies bar so I just watched the replay of the PTFC-FCD match. Barrios is the scariest bench player in MLS. Insane that they can bring on him and Tesho in the 60th. But hell of a point to Portland @ Frisco without Valeri.
Had to tape and miss match because I promised the lady and some friends to go to the beach for the weekend. Was a surprising, and disappointing to some extent, point as I followed along on the twitter machine. But, a point at Frisco without one of the 5 best players in MLS? Won't be apologizing or agonizing too long about that one.
So I just received an email from the Dallas Beer Guardians which is one of the FCD supporter groups. The supporter groups and the club agreed that they would be targeting people using the Puto chant and that those people would be asked to leave. Well fast forward to Saturday and people in the beer garden, which you have to be 21 to sit in where asked to leave.....Due to using profanity during a chant. Supposedly it was the "FCD ain't nothing to fuck with" chant that was the main culprit. The supporter groups were only told they couldn't use Puto but nothjng else was mentioned. Club can't get fans to show up, the only ones who do are the supporter groups most of the time and now they are messing with them over cursing. I'm sure this will go well.
RBNY just sanctioned 2 supporters sections for "Fuck DC" and "Fuck Ohio" signs and fuck DC chants. I can see the negative impact of punishing your most consistent supporters, but I can also see the negative impact on the entire stadium and ticket sales where parents won't want to bring their kids to games if that sort of thing goes untouched.
If that is the best your supporters can come up with and want to martyr themselves over then your fans are super shitty.
