FS1's anti-VAR debate centers around "if there are video refs we will have less to talk about with fewer mistakes"
Not only was this not given as a penalty (Geiger), but the FOX announcers called this a natural arm position.
BWP follows up the easiest overhead goal you'll ever see, with the easiest backheel goal you'll ever see.
That Crew game was fun. 3-0 over Seattle. Ola came over and took the megaphone from the capo and danced around the corner leading the Nordecke in our "Ola" chant to the tune of "Ole". He then took his jersey off and gave it to the capo and led the Nordecke in happy birthday to the capo. Was fun.
FC Cincy v Columbus in the US Open Cup. Get fucked in two weeks SugarShaun. Too bad the game is on a Wednesday night and not a weekend.
US Open Cup needs more match ups like this. Looking forward to watching. Will be on Youtube or FC Cincy website?
All of FC's games are on local TV in Cincy. Think they ended up doing some type of stream last night when they beat Louisville.
Flipping betweeen USMNT friendly and Crew vs Colorado and they talked on the coverage about Juventus and Gonzalo HiguaĆn playing today and they said that Gonzalo and Federico FaceTime before every match. I didn't know that, that's cool
Rafael Ramos sent off after an accidental collision. MLS needs to reexamine their entire refereeing program because it's a disgrace.
They tested the VAR in preseason and they said during the SKC-MU game they had it set up and were testing it again. Hopefully they can get that going by next year.
They just said on the Sounders/Dymano broadcast that it is supposed to be implemented after the all star game. They are testing it at this game right now and will be testing it for the next couple of months at select games.
MLS is using Instant Replay for goals, penalty decisions, red cards and mistaken identity after the All-Star Game. Big Fan. Got to get those key decisions right.
yes, the interesting thing is they aren't using it for second yellow send offs I believe. There was an interesting podcast with Grant Wahl and Howard Webb discussing what would be reviewable and what would not be. I forget the logic behind it but he said they aren't going to review those. It was right after the Bayern champions league match where there was a controversial second yellow and he said it would not change that decision.
Sporting handed Montreal a goal to end their 6 game home winning streak. Still unbeaten in their last 17 at home.
Timbers with their most gutsy game of the year. Lose both center backs, have Nagbe and Guzman gone on national team duty and beat Dallas 2-0. Adi back to his scoring ways with a brace.
They haven't locked down a location yet but FC Cincinnati released stadium renderings if they were to get into MLS.
Sadly yes and at this point it looks like the most likely option. The city of Cincinnati and Hamilton County are very anti public funding for stadiums after giving the Bengals the worst stadium deal in the country. Despite all their talk FC is still wanting somewhere between $50 and $100 mil in public money. The stadium county wide sales tax increase that's paying for the Reds and Bengals stadium was setup without a term so their idea is when those two stadiums are paid off they'd like for the sales tax to pay for part of their stadium. Current politicians in the city and county are pretty against that so so unless Cincinnati comes to the table with some money it looks like the stadium will end up across the river in Newport Kentucky.
Wouldn't be that bad. I've been out in Newport, But I would still make fun of FC Cincy for being in Kentucky,
It's definitely better then no MLS team but being in Cincinnati is much preferred. And yeah god knows the Kentucky jokes would come with that, but we already get those from the rest of Ohio. At least we'd have a nice new stadium to go with the jokes.
Over 25,000 tickets sold for FC Cincy v Crew tonight. Super impressive for a weeknight, would have definitely sold out if it was on a weekend.
For anyone who has never driven on I-71S going from Columbus to Cincinnati, you pass this on that trip
Are there YouTube links to these Open Cup matches? There always has been in years past but I can't find them. Just direct links on mls & ussoccer.com. Shit sucks cause I can't chromecast from the websites.
