Sportings B squad downed Minn's D squad, 4-Nil. Joe Greenspan for Minn suffered a neck injury and was on the turf for 10 mins before he was stretchered off. Scary stuff.
I wonder if MLS will go for a team with a stadium that isn't in the city. They seem to be pretty anti-teams with stadiums based outside the city core at this point. Newport is right across the river though, so it isn't like it is in Hebron, KY. Parked in KY and walked to a Reds Game, so those areas right across the rivers are almost an extension of downtown Cincy at this point.
The worst part is he asks the cop arresting him if he can call the police who work for the team that deal with issues when they get pulled over. So this happens a lot but they just got a cop who didn't know how it works.
lolololololol fucking Cincy making up a "Derby" This is the shit that ppl fucking hate about the MLS and US Club Soccer in general There is no one who cares about the Crew who views FC Cincy as a "threat"
I don't think they could sign him without first moving Accam. They have 3 DPs and also don't have much TAM/GAM left, so they would likely have to deal a DP. Accam is the only option and has been linked with moves in the past.
There were Crew fans that also had hell is real derby scarves and signs at the game It's two teams from the same state that are two hours apart, of course it's going to be viewed as a rivalry. If you're going to hate on using the word derby then you've got a problem with 90% of US soccer fans, all people do here is try to mimic shit they see in Europe. Personally I loved the Hell is Real as it was much more of an inside joke between the two cities. That's way better then just calling it the battle for Ohio or the battle of I-71 like they do in the NFL or MLB. I agree that FC Cincy isn't any threat to the Crew. The Crew have little to no fans in Cincy so it's not like they would be taking away a part of their fan base. If Cincy ever got to the MLS the game would jump right into the group of rivalries MLS likes to promote. Both games would be sellouts with great atmospheres and legit visiting sections. MLS eats that shit up.
Seriously fuck the FC Cincy owner for pushing for more public funding. He is worth $2 bill, build your own fucking stadium. It isn't an exactly thriving region with money to burn on stupid projects like this.
Cincy economy is doing pretty well- pretty sure it has outpaced the Midwest since the housing the crisis But yes its a scam and I agree with you- also fuck the MLS for not allowing them to join and play at UC where they are drawing so well
http://www.opb.org/artsandlife/article/timber-jim-portland-timbers-mascot-history/ Without a doubt, the coolest traditions for Portland involve the sawing of the log after goals, and the singing of 'you are my sunshine' in the 80th minute (no matter the score). The story has probably been talked about before, but if you haven't read the reason why we sing it...try not to cry. It's the reason sports can be fucking awesome.
Chi: 23 out of last 27 points TFC: 29 out of last 33 points Insane how hot those 2 teams are right now.
It doesn't change the outcome but the no call on the Fire keeper for taking out a guy with a clear path is insane.
It was supposed to kickoff at 3:30et but got moved later because of the heatwave out West. 100 in Portland today.
it's 100 right now and will be about 95 at kickoff. And as the Twellman tweet showed, the turf gets super hot from the sunlight. i wonder when they'll put in real grass. maybe after the expansion.
Umm, Taylor Twellman told me that due to recent FIFA rule changes it was a correct call and he's never wrong and I NEVER routinely call him a cunt so I feel the red card was warranted.
