Entertaining Week 1. I knew Atlanta might struggle defensively and have to win some 3-2 type games, but they might have to change it up. Losing Carmona was big for them. They have no real bite in the midfield. Nagbe isn't a real defensive player and McCann doesn't do anything for me in the midfield. More of a sub type. Gonzales Pirez can play, but combined 70 years of age in Larentowitz and Parkhurst doesn't inspire confidence at all. They might have to move Nagbe further up field, but the midfield is too crowded. Really need a ground cover #6 and another CB if they are going to challenge for trophies this year. NYCFC looked real strong to me. Crew surprised me. They looked dangerous and Berhalter has a system that produces. Curious to see how Orlando looks with their full compliment of players. No Sasha, no Dwyer, no Ille lon Saturday. Glad to see more youth get a chance, but disappoint Carleton didn't play in a blow-up and Pomykol has been MIA and those are the two best attacking youth prospects in MLS. Hope Durkin stays in DCU plans.
That was an insanely good match once it opened up in the 2nd. Don’t know if TFC did enough to go to Tigres and get a result but if any MLS side could they’re the ones. Doubt I finish this Flounders match tonight, will have to pick it up tomorrow.

According to ESPN: The New York Red Bulls picked up a historic Champions League win on Tuesday night, winning 2-0 away to Tijuana to become the first MLS club to win a CONCACAF knockout-stage match in Mexico... MLS teams had previously lost 25 of the 30 knockout-stage games in the region's top regional competitions. Overall, it was only the third-ever win for an MLS club in any competitive fixture in Mexico -- and first since August 2011 -- after eight draws and 38 defeats. For the Red Bulls, it was their first win in Mexico in eight games.
TFC is definitely the underdog going to Tigres. Tigres is at worst 2nd best Liga MX team and TFC has to go on the road to a hostile environment basically tied since Tigres got the away goal. Seattle is probably 50-50 or a slight favorite because the didn't give up the away goal and Chivas is bad and the away environment is the least hostile. Red Bulls should be large favorites go through with the 2-0 and 2 away goals playing at home. Hope MLS can go 2-1. Just winning the 3 games was big. 4ish years ago MLS went 3-0 against Liga MX in the home fixtures and got smashed on the road and went 0-3 across the legs.
Oh for sure. Tigres is the tops imo. If TFC pulls it out it’ll be amazing. Good thing is RBNY has a huge advantage and Chivas is poop. Also I think the MX sides have to play this weekend and the MLS sides don’t. Poor TFC, even if they do get to advance they’re underdogs again next round vs America.
Wow. Chicago was unable to find a local TV partner. So with less than 24 hours till their home opener they just announced fans in Chicago wont be blocked out and can watch the games on ESPN+ when in launches. Until then they can stream them on MLSSOCCER.com. That’s embarrassing.

I’m thinking SKC over Col in the open cup. TFC will squeak past NYC for the cup. LA will beat Seattle in the west finals, NYC will beat Orl in the east finals(TFCs legs finally for out and they limp into the playoffs) and NYC wins the cup. And I’d be freaking estatic if RBNY took home the CONCACAF cup for their first ever cup in club history.
