Giovinco missed a penalty a few mins ago by hitting the post. Weird bounce off of penalty rebound and NYCFC is now up 2-0
Tops in mls in ppg, sporting has a ton of games in hand vs the teams in front of them. Vancouver tried to mate it a physical affair which is idiotic vs sporting cause it just turns into a sloppy foul fest and that's where sporting dominates.
Core Player / Targeted Allocation Money 1. Each MLS team will receive $100,000 per year over the next five years for a total of $500,000 to invest in their rosters outside of the salary cap. 2. Unlike general Allocation Money, which may be used to sign any player regardless of his salary, Targeted Allocation Money may only be used to sign or re-sign players who are not Designated Players but who earn more than the maximum salary of $436,250. 3. MLS clubs can use a portion or all of their allotted Targeted Allocation Money, up to $500,000, to be used in a single season on up to three players at a time. So in other words, the teams spend their Targeted Allocation Money in advance. 4. Per the rules: "MLS Teams may use a portion or all of their allotted Targeted Allocation Money to convert a Designated Player to a non-Designated Player by buying down, on a prorated basis, his salary budget charge to at or below the maximum salary budget charge. If Targeted Allocation Money is used to free up a Designated Player slot, the club must simultaneously sign a new Designated Player at an investment equal to or greater than the player he is replacing." So what this means is that if a team has a Designated Player who is within range of $500,000 of the maximum salary, the team can buy that player back into non-DP status. If that is done, the team must sign another Designated Player. 5. Finally: “MLS clubs are not required to use their full $100,000 each season, they are required to use the remaining amount during the following year. For example, if a club does not use its $100,000 allotment in 2015, that club must use or trade at least that $100,000 of Targeted Allocation Money in 2016.”
I went to the NYCFC Toronto game yesterday. Definitely entertaining. First game at the stadium and the pitch is better than it looks on TV (which is awful). Giovinco just had his way with NYCFC's CB's, and Iraola botched his assignment on the 4th goal. Iraola looked decent getting up the field int eh first half but they went away from it later in the game. Villa and Giovinco were clearly the class of the game. I am pretty excited to see the team with Iraola, Lampard, Pirlo, Mix, and Villa all out there at the same time, but who knows if that ever happens.
No Giovinco in MLS Fan 11. Should get subbed on by Garber for Zusi since commish can just add players like Gerrard/Lampard.
Hard to take the MLS seriously when they'd rather have Gerrard there representing the league over Giovinco
Pretty safe to assume that Giovinco will be named by Pablo Mastroeni. Not surprised nor upset that Garber would want Gerrand/Lampard to take part in the game as it is nothing but a money grab anyway. It would be stupid to not involve them. I am sure sponsors demanded it as well.
They have some money to spend, but not DP money. I think I read last week that they can give someone $500K. Granted that is not Drogba money so I don't know how that works, but what if he is just considering it for the experience and exposure? There are some strange cap rules around DP's starting mid-year that only tie up half their allocation, so they do have money to spend. http://www.hudsonriverblue.com/2015...andrea-pirlo-will-sign-with-nycfc-on-july-1st
Timbers did some stupid MLS thing where they had more money to spend all of a sudden in the middle of the season and paid a $5M transfer for a 22 year old Argentinian forward with an 80 potential on FIFA so things are looking up i think
What will LAG stating 11 look like? I'm guessing one of Villareal or Lletget will have to move to the super sub role.
From reading things it sounds like Milano will be @ RW to start so I'm guessing Nagbe goes to the left side, Valeri in the middle Adi up top and urruti, Fernandez and Wallace to the bench.
Fuck Chicago. Piss on the fire I've been sick and missed the last 2 home matches and think I'll have to miss this week as well
ESPN reporting MLS has offered drogba an 18 month contract @ $2.5 million per year. Plans are to place him Chicago.
If Kei Kamara isn't on the MLS All Star Roster announced today it will be absurd (22 man roster will be announced at halftime of USA/Cuba)
Disappointing crowd. I know there was a delay and weather was questionable but biggest rival and its not like we get national games often. Come on. Pride night too so figured we'd get a boost from people that might not normally come
Mini Nordecke has gotten little TV time. Cool for them. With the number of adult chants in the supporters section parents weren't wanting their kids in there so there's a stage at the North end behind the goal next to it and on the opposite side of the stage there's a kid supporters section and Frankie Hejduk goes over there to help lead them in chants.
