<3 Benny so much. His hatred for RSL outweighs his desire to jump SKC for a first round bye. After they both retire we need to see a Benny v BeckerMan bare knuckle brawl.

Not a victory, but an unexpected road point in a tight playoff race. Pretty pleased that a guy who probably shouldn’t even be in MLS scored a goal and almost scored a winner late, while our play maker sat on the bench most of the game.

Got a good chuckle out of them saying Barco has "struggled to build chemisty with his teammates."

    That's putting it lightly.

They got a quote from Darren Eales in it, saying Almiron's heading to England in the next window.

    Hopefully

“The other reason I might get to see the Crew play again is that the longer this will-they-or-won’t-they-move saga drags on, the chances of them staying put figures to increase. That’s the hope, anyway. I’m no expert on the complex and evolving situation — for that and all things Crew, Columbus Dispatch reporter Andrew Erickson is your guy — but two Columbus-based contacts I’ve spoken to recently both agreed, without being asked, that the outcome they see as most likely as time goes on is that the team is sold to local investors, with MLS granting current owner Precourt Sports Ventures an expansion team in Austin.”

Not sure if I would have been happy with signing Fabian. He's turning 31 in December and has been injury prone most of his career. When healthy he'd be probably a good MLS player but who knows how often that will happen. Happy with Adi as one of our DPs, should get a second one who's younger and then hopefully we use the third spot.

Also really hope the Crew can stay in Columbus with new owners. If they can get a new stadium built in arena district they'd get really good attendance with all the young people living in and around that area.

That article said he was offered 4-600K so he would be a TAM player and wouldn’t count as a DP. He’s for sure worth that.

Well then I'd definitely take him as a non DP though that would be a big pay cut for him so not sure he'd agree to it. The MLS rules around USMNT players seem stupid and pointless, I know huge :shocker:

St. Louis expansion might be back on the table. Could be a big success, because they have an excellent corporate structure. And they give you all the tools to be your own boss.

Even my man Mike getting into it (30 mins before his team was getting ready to kick off):

How that cunt faced piece of shit Jiar Marrufo is allowed to ref Sporting matches is the most atrocious out of all the atrocities that is PRO. Hes admittedly biased and won’t call the games down the middle. I know I’ve posted the article every time after one of his matches. Twice he’s been suspended for egregious and one sided calls after sporting matches. Sporting averages 1.2 fewer ppg when he’s the official vs every other official in the league over the past 6 years. His dad was a piece of shit that lost his whistle for taking bribes and he’s no better.

I saw a tweet that he’s beat more MLS teams with Chivas (TFC, SS, RBNJ) than SJ has beat (FCD, Minn) over the past 12 months.

An STL group just announced plans to build the stadium that voters nixed about a year ago. At the presser they said they hope to have a team announced in months not years.

I’m hopeful that the mls has wanted this the whole time so it will be smooth sailing.

No clue about youth connections but I’m sure they’ll do something because youth soccer is huge here.

The group consists of the Taylor family (Enterprise) and Jim Kavanaugh (world wide technologies).

I really don’t know what’s going on with expansion in the mls, but as a guy who recently had his football team ripped from them I hope we don’t get a relocation.

Yes, those academies now go by the St. Louis FC name.

MLS should stop the charade and announce already they’re going to 30 and then 32 clubs.

Finally something to get to excited about as a Quakes fan, now if we can stop brining in 4th tier European players as our DP and bring in some
Exciting South American players that be a nice start

Liga MX's pres said there's some spitballing going around about a North American soccer league after the 2026 world cup. Thoughts? It would be really tough to make work, but I think it's possible and would potentially be great for US/Canada/Mexico. I posted an idea on another soccer board:

It would have to be very well thought out and planned, and relegation would probably have to be part of it IMO. I'm not exactly conducting the relegation train in MLS, but if they were to try to do this, that's the only way it would work I think.

-You'd have to go to about 30 teams in the top league, (Both to make travel time more reasonable with enough locations, and to get more owners to agree to it) divide it into 2 conferences east to west, have every team play a home and away against all their conference opponents, and maybe play 8 games against the other conference, 4 games home and 4 away. Or go to 32 teams, divide it into 2 conferences with 4 divisions in each, have a home and away with every conference opponent, and a home and away with 1 division from the other conference. That would be the only way to make travel time doable with that large a region.

-Have an east/west bracket-style playoff to determine the champ.

-The reason I think relegation would have to be part of it is that you'd never get enough owners to agree to it otherwise. The risk of being left out of the top league permanently would be too great for a lot of them. The teams in Liga MX and MLS that don't make it in are placed into a 2nd tier league together with some USL teams and lower tier Mexican teams, and the top 2 teams from each conference in that league move up the next year. The secondary league would be a lot better than the USL now and the idea of playing in it, comparatively, wouldn't be as unpalatable.

If you could get enough owners to agree to all that, I think the league would have a ton of potential, but that might be a hurdle too large to overcome.

A lot can happen over 8 years but there would be way too many hurdles imo. Pro/Rel would be added and I saw a model somewhere, maybe reddit, a year back or so that would work as far as pro/rel goes. I’ll try to run it down. I just don’t see Garber/MLS/USSF/SUM giving up MLS as a single entity. Could MLS by that time have enough capital and market power to scoop MX up into itself? I wouldn’t think so. You really think Chivas or America would put up with a midseason rule change so LA could get past the current roster rules? Doubtful. I know Liga MX is having issues with tax evasion and the under the table contracts and players not getting paid what they were told but it’s not like the leagues falling apart or anything.

Liga MX is the richest league in the Americas. Not sure why they or the FMF would give up anything to help out MLS and USSF
