https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2018...ners-emerge-potential-buyers-columbus-crew-sc Everyone's statements in this article. Sounds like everyone is saying this is the plan, it should be good, still need to work out the kinks.
He just hugged me and said “What a day”. I thanked him for being here. Gonna go ahead and jump him way up the list of favorite players
Sorry that I disagree that this is good news. Personally, I think having owners with a track record of being awful is bad for the whole league. Get a grip
You know it’s bad when even the head of the browns has pity on you Also, I’m not bitter at all that this fell through
Robert Kraft is one of the worst owners in MLS. Hunt family are considered great NFL owners but they’re bottom tier MLS owners.
So as a Crew fan and Columbus resident you disagree it would be better for me to have Jimmy Haslem buy the team and keep them in Columbus than if he didn’t and they moved to Austin and we had no team?
I would try to hold out for a better option, because I don't think it will be healthy long term. It's not as black and white as you want to make it.
I feel like I’ve definitrly been keeping better tabs on things than you about whether we were losing our team. It was looking pretty bleak. Is it the best case scenario? No. Did it look like there was another option of keeping the team? Also no
No, I'm pretty sure you flew off the handle when I was critical and called me a cunt. It's a net negative for the league, sorry.
Actually all of this happened before I said that At this point is where I say you were acting like I should be upset about it too. So I originally just said fuck off stop trying to piss on our parade. Then you continued to do so, quoting me. If I was just flying off the handle, I would’ve went off on GA too.
Anyway, thanks to those that were complimentary, been a long few weeks and this was an amazing surprise. Hope everyone has a nice weekend, even my buddy Thoros
Have a great weekend and don't take things so personally. It's just sports. Always take solace in the fact that you guys will always be home to the second best golfer of all time.
Maybe let the crew fans have one day to celebrate keeping their team before cunting up the thread thoros.
Huge day for the Crew for MLS and for Shaun. Everyone agreed 100% this would be best case scenario when Precourt went full Precunt on that franchise. Never thought the league would do it though. They also never would have if it wasn’t for the #SaveTheCrew movement and EVERY single other MLS fan base rallying behind it. Also have to give props to people like Moreno, Dunseth, Twellman who all blasted Precourt and DonG on national TV time and time again for their shady shit.
So when all of this goes down that means there’s only one spot left for Secaremento/Phoenix/Detroit to fight over. St Louis will want to jump in there as well but will it be too little too late? Sure hope so.
They’ll announce within the next 12 months that they’re expanding again. MLS will definitely get to 32 teams.
Adding Detroit right after Cincinnati makes no sense. Would've made more sense if Columbus actually moved to Austin. We've been led to believe everything on Phoenix's end is a go. It's a huge market and has really gotten behind the Rising. We aren't drawing Cincinnati levels but it's pretty clear there's a lot of support. It'd be dumb to keep ignoring the market. Although it's the MLS so it'll probably be Detroit.
Phoenix over Detroit seems like such an easy decision that I feel like MLS will fuck it up. Seems like they have a great organization from what I've seen.
The support from the other fan bases has been incredible and at times is emotionally overwhelming because it was far stronger than I anticipated. The people who headed up STC and took charge really deserve for the rest of us Crew fans to pool together and cover their tickets for at least a year honestly because it’s been a long year and the longer it went, the bleaker it looked. I can’t believe standing up and fighting for your team actually worked. I’m kind of in shock about it. Obviously without Haslem and the group stepping up it isn’t possible but without the fight, they probably don’t step up. Sorry, this is long. I’m exhausted, I’ve been working a ton and moving every single night taking stuff from our apartment to our house and I’m being sappy and emotional. Josh Williams said it as good as I can. What a day.
They've done a great job. It's really impressive how they managed to bring in big names like Drogba, Bravo, and SWP to establish the club last year and then have managed to keep growing largely without them. Drogba went 4 months between playing matches this season and crowds kept turning out. The marketing department has really gotten the name out there. I only went last year for the first time because I wanted to see Drogba. Went to a few more last season and became a season ticket holder this year. It's a good time with or without MLS. But I think you'll see a lot of support for this club if MLS happens. Lots of transplants here and it's really easy to get behind a club now in my adopted home since I didn't grow up watching MLS and bring an allegiance with me.
I agree though. That Thoros dude seems like a douche for no reason. It’s a shame someone pissed in his Cheerios. Glory to Columbus!
I think they’re the clear favorites. I feel for Sacramento a bit because it seems like every time an expansion side is announced they’re told they would of been named if they just had richer owners.
Precourt could've been better off attaching himself to Sacramento. They already have a great built in fan base and he's from San Francisco. However, the current Sacramento owner seems to scare off any sugar daddy owner that gets slightly interested. So, he must have some crazy demands in regards to control.
