My take is waiting on facts to come out vs. assuming. She could be in the wrong, but at least has hired a lawyer and tried to prove that she was right.
Doesnt necessarily have to be twitter. But TikTok for informational purposes sucks! Especially for something this. Id rather just read the info in 30 seconds than sit through several minutes of video. Just gimme the receipts not a video! /rant
He doesn’t have to prove shit. He didn’t do anything wrong. She is trying to justify her racist behavior. He rented a bike tried to get on. Was confronted with a racist bitch finally got his bike and is now living his life. She is doing damage control and trying to keep her job. She fucked around and trying to keep from finding out. Not calling you one but it seems like racist assholes are the ones shifting the story to try and blame him.
Eh, I’d be real hesitant to automatically discount a receipt. That’d be a real stupid lawyer to put that out there like that if it didn’t back them up. Though I also don’t understand why the time/date wouldn’t be on it.
You forgot that the guy is black, so he literally has to prove that he’s allowed to exist in society.
I’ve given this some thought and since I feel I know you and who you are I decided to give it a minute before I replied. If you mean all this shit over an electric bike, I agree. If you mean the reaction POC have had then I disagree. MGT just did a similar thing to a congressman. I can’t get behind thinking the way POC reacted to this is dumb.
A one minute video where nothing really happens, no material or physical harm, has been one of the most viral things in a while. It's very very stupid
I don’t think POC being upset by what she did is dumb. I’m sure the guys in that video didn’t think it was dumb when the white knights started to show up. Luckily there were no cops around. So because the woman didn’t get the results she wanted doesn’t make the reaction dumb. I for one would rather this dumb overreaction to point out this shit and how dangerous her behavior was as opposed mourning another black man.
i was thinking about those situations last night and it brought me back to a young me. One day the mother of one of my friend called my mom and accused me and another friend of stealing her sisters bike because we were at a party at their house over the weekend. We were like 14 years old and just started to look like dumbass teenagers and I guess we looked the worst of the bunch for her to single us out but we absolutely did not steal her fucking bike. I felt so fucking helpless trying to explain, I even called her personally and she was not having it. 2 days later she calls back and says they found the bike and the sister just forgot it at a friends house. No apologies, no remorse that is how close to being profiled as I ever was and that feeling of helplessness and guilt that I had no reason to feel but when you are accused you are still feeling like you did something wrong is still very vivid to me. I can understand why this is a big deal
Small correction, Actually I can’t really understand that situation and that was silly of me to say because I could still control how i dressed and how I presented myself so I have no clue what it is like to be judged on an even dumber criteria that you have no control over like skin color
I agree with Daniel Ocean , if I was eating ice cream and someone walked up to me and said I stole it, I dont have to prove shit to anyone, thats on the accuser to prove shit.
I try man, I look like a complete fool here sometimes by engaging in discussions that I probably should not but selfishly it makes me understand the American culture so much better and also makes me realize how this board have some really smart people.
Travel advisory for black folks visiting Florida. My family is visiting next month. Great. https://naacp.org/articles/naacp-issues-travel-advisory-florida
It is twenty fucking twenty three and there is a travel advisory warning for black ppl visiting a state in the US and it is not some over reactionary statement. This country is fucking broken and disgusts me. Be safe,
not to mention the close to 4 million black people that live there and have to endure this shit every day.
I mean, you have a woman accusing and crying causing a scene over something she wanted but a black guy had. We're lucky it didn't escalate when she was essentially screaming for someone to start and altercation/protect her. She created a false reality & attempted to exploit a minority solely b/c "she wanted it"
well, certainly looking like the worst case possible with Kuiper turned out to be true. adios, dumbass.
seems like a small town, disturbance in a park with kids, they all come running because there is nothing else going on. either way, the cops aren't the issue here outside of so many showing up. the responding officer imo did a great job. the issue is the teachers assuming that just because they rented a pavillion, they can kick out whoever they want. pathetic.
Not an excuse to pull up 8 deep for something so small. It's insulting to the black man sitting there with his kid.
It’s wild to me that the cop referred to this man as the “aggressor.” He was completely right that he’d nothing wrong, confirmed it with the City, and they called and had the cops roll up 8 deep on him and his kid…he’s the aggressor??
Strongly disagree with this assessment. How did they do a great job when they accused him of being the aggressor? It also didn’t seem like they made any effort to actually investigate or confirm what was happening. If you consider that doing a great job then your bar is way too low.
They asked him to stop being aggressive. Which lets be honest. Guy was upset. He has every right to be. He was being targeted. Do I think he was being aggressive ? No. I think that was a poor choice of words. but at the same time, his claims needed to be verified. Who the fuck knows if you can rent out the park or not. Which is essentially what the cop kept saying. He kept saying hold on we are looking into it. He also kept the Karen’s away from him and defended his right to record the encounter. They also remained a safe distance and kept their hands away from their weapons. not sure what else you want that responding officer to do other than not use the word aggressive.
Did you actually watch the video? They didn’t keep the Karen away from him, they placed themselves between him and the Karen in order to protect the Karen, as though he was an aggressor. For someone who used to wax poetically about his grandfather fleeing fascism you sure are quick to side with the fascist. These cops were terrible, but as long as they have people like you they will never feel the need to show black people respect.
It’s very telling that he’s still pretending that the black man might be wrong despite the fact that the cops did confirm that he had a right to use the playground.
To be fair to the cop, the woman called the cops and probably lied to them about the situation on the call, saying he was being aggressive and such Most of the time a cop arrives on a scene, something is going on negative toward the caller. The cops probably could have noticed what was going on pretty soon after they got there, but let's remember, they are cops, and we all know what I mean by that. They also had barely gotten any info when the video we saw started. We all knew what was going on the second we hit play, so our reaction to everything is a little different than if we had been told before watching something like "watch this aggressive man at a park threatening school children"
The nuance you guys are missing is that every time a cop is called on black people for piddily shit like this, the chances that this turns into something tragic rise. Cops show up, you aren’t doing anything illegal so the black people get pissed, which raises cops already shitty alerts and someone gets killed. We don’t have the same relationship as you. Every time a cop is called on a black person the odds of it turning into a death sentence are high.
i was not snarky, I was just pointing out that this thread is not for the discussion he was trying to engage in. It’s a thread to show and put forward the way poc are treated like shit in the USA. His point might have been valid, but It’s not the point here. And you are right, never said anything about that
