https://www.theverge.com/2018/3/2/1...arrow-death-wish-amc-film-studio-negotiations I didn’t have any problem getting tickets, but I did notice when I checked in that Death Wish was at the very top of the list and Red Sparrow at the very bottom even behind movies that had been out for weeks. I don’t know if that was intentional or just alphabetic
Just checked and that's how it is for me as well. But I was able to check in here, so it's not backed ito, but they're definitely burying it
Yeah Red Sparrow is way at the bottom. Moviepass is prob not a good company but as long as someone offers this service for this price I'm in.
MoviePass won’t let its customers buy tickets to Red Sparrow in some markets https://www.theverge.com/platform/a...-red-sparrow-death-wish-amc-film-studio-negot
Was it not good? I'm not dying to see it but will watch if I get a free night in the next week since I've seen pretty much everything else worth a shit. Death Wish is my other option.
I think it goes without saying that you should see Black Panther, Game Night, or Annihilation before Death Wish or Red Sparrow.....and after you've seen those first 3, you are just playing with Movie Pass house money.
What movies y'all excited about the next couple weeks. I can't imagine tomb raider is one if normally see, but I'll check it out on moviepass. Anything else coming out before rp1 at the end of the month?
Thinking Isle of Dogs could be interesting, i was a pretty big Wes Anderson fan at one point. Have also seen the preview for a movie called Flower which looked kinda interesting, but early reviews have only been so so. Also recently saw the preview for a movie called 7 days in Entebbe, as well as one called Thoroughbreds; both looked decent, although I don’t know if I’d see any of the 4 films above in theaters if not for moviepass.
My wife had acl surgery and I have to be with her 24/7 right now. Had a baseball tournament out of town last weekend. Haven't seen a movie since black Panther. Still haven't seen game night or annihilation and I'm afraid that won't change anytime soon.
New Strangers Movie (loved the first one) Tomb Raider (meh why not) Pacific Rim (enjoyed the first one) Ready Player One (meh why not) A Quiet Place (I like scary movies and I like interesting premises) This is my March line-up
I got to the theater and went to check in and Red Sparrow was blacked out. I went back to the main screen and picked the movie (instead of theater) and it popped up for the theater I was at. Just figured it was a glitch.
Yeah they had a huge outage last night nationally. Could have been on purpose. It better work today, I'm so behind on movies.
Being blacked out doesn't matter. Check in for whatever movie then just buy your ticket for Red Sparrow.
At the theater now to see Death Wish. I was surprised to see the RT critic score 16%, audience score 86%.
A Wrinkle in Time is flawed but well-intentioned. Really good movie for preteens. First half is weak but the second is really good.
I was in Denver last weekend and was shocked to see there were theaters around me that weren't moviepass theaters. Sucks for them.
When I go back to visit my parents on san Diego, I have to travel a ways to find a movie pass theater. Its strange
Finally saw Black Panther. Really enjoyed it. Wouldn’t have watched it if not for MoviePass and it’s definitely a theater movie.
MoviePass pulls 'unused' app location feature after backlash Brett Molina, USA TODAYPublished 2:47 p.m. ET March 8, 2018 | Updated 9:21 p.m. ET March 8, 2018 Netflix co-founder Mitch Lowe has a radical new business model for his startup MoviePass. Time MoviePass revealed it has removed an "unused app location capability" after comments from its CEO surfaced about how it could track consumers before and after they visited a movie theater. Last week, MoviePass CEO Mitch Lowe suggested the app had the potential to follow users even when they weren't using the app to take in a movie, renewing concerns that tech companies were taking advantage of the GPS-tracking capabilities of smartphones to amass more personal data about individuals than they often realized. MoviePass surged in popularity last summer, offering a $9.95-a-month subscription for unlimited movie watching in theaters. The service allows a user to watch one movie at a supporting theater every day. The company released a statement following Lowe's remarks claiming it was considering options such as restaurant recommendations or parking discounts as a way to offer a "complete moviegoing experience" by leveraging users' location data. "While part of our vision includes using location-based marketing to enhance the movie-going experience for our members, we aren't using some of that functionality today," reads a statement obtained Thursday by USA TODAY. "Our members will always have the option to choose the location-based services that are right for them today and in the future.' MoviePass' privacy policy says the service requires location access from users when they choose a theater, but doesn't specify whether the app continues to track users beyond that. An app update said the "unused app location capability" on MoviePass had been removed. During a presentation on March 2 at the Entertainment Finance Forum in Los Angeles, Lowe laid out ways MoviePass could leverage user data. "Because you are being tracked in your GPS by the phone, our patent basically turns on and off our payment system by hooking that card to the device ID on your phone, so we watch how you drive from home to the movies," said Lowe, as reported by Media Play News. "We watch where you go afterwards, and so we know the movies you watch. We know all about you." MoviePass said it would not sell the data it gathered. However, it is common for some tech companies to gather and sell data to third parties. In January, fitness app Strava sparked concerns over how it protects personal data after publishing an interactive map potentially containing sensitive information.
I hate when they put all the movies around the same time. Dinner went long so only option was The Party which was fucking awful and we walked out. But got those sweet Regal points.
I hate when the movie times don't match up perfectly with my daughter's weekend naps. They should really fix that. I also hate when the times work better at the other theater and I have to drive 10 minutes instead of 5. #firstworldmoviepassproblems My wife was telling me she read about movie pass knowing everything I do even before and after the movie - and honestly, I don't care at all. If using my info helps them target ads to me, don't mind.
We were over in the Stapleton area and the Harkins Northfield wasn't covered. Seems like we had to drive a bit to find a theater so we just gave up. The closest was the James Holmes Aurora theater.
By general movies discussion. Does that include films on Netflix? If so, I just finished watching this. Pretty solid film. Apparently it’s Justin Chon’s first time directing
Went to see Annihilation last night. I really enjoyed it. Visually, it is fantastic. And I enjoyed the storyline. Great sound editing and acting was decent.
i think first and foremost this is still a "moviepass" thread, so netflix/streaming movies wouldn't make sense in here but my thinking was we'd use this thread to discuss movies we're using moviepass to see (rather than just posting updates about the card/service like we were previously doing)
Just got my pass but haven't used it yet. I understand you can check in for a movie then buy for a different movie. Seems like you can check in and then buy a ticket for the next day but correct me if I'm wrong. Lastly if I check in can I buy my ticket online through fandango/another website? OR do I have to buy the ticket at the theater? Seems like I should be able to buy it online since it's just like a credit card.
Fair warning: The Hurricane Heist was one of the most god awful movies I've ever seen. Don't waste your time
Thanks for the heads up. Was tempted to check it out but I won’t go now. Going to see Tomb Raider next and then maybe Pacific Rim: Uprising and possibly Isle of Dogs.
