They did this for a few months back before they reduced the price to $10. I don't think they had the camera flash enabled in the app and it had problems focusing unless you were in a well lit place. I remember many times thinking I'd take the picture when I left and completely forgetting or losing the stub. Ended up getting an email warning me they might cancel it if I didn't submit the stub again.
I haven’t gotten that email yet but I don’t mind it, especially when I’m going to already be at the ticket counter anyway I use some couponing apps where I have to take a pic of the receipt so it’s the same principle
Buying a 3d ticket after checking into a 2d movie. Purchasing multiple tickets on discount day. Buying an advance ticket with the card. And those are just ones I've done...
And right now it's just a select group of people in this pilot program. We'll see if they roll it out, but like others said, I'm fine with it bc I'm still seeing multiple movies a month for free. Whatever is needed to keep that service going, sign me up
I just used it to buy an Avengers ticket in advance in a Dolby digital theatre. I'm breaking all the rules at the same time.
Wait....you guys haven’t had to do this already? I got an email about it maybe a month or so ago and have had to do it for my last 4-5 movies. It’s not that big of a deal, just a little awkward finding a place to lay ticket and receipt out to take a pic before walking into theater, especially since I’m almost always using kiosks with no counter nearby.
The app didn’t ask for it until the 2nd movie I saw after receiving the email, so yeah, it may take a week or so for the change to take place. In fact, I sent the MP twitter account a DM about it after that first movie wondering if the email was legit in part because I didn’t see anyone mention the picture requirement here, in addition to the app not asking for a pic before that first movie. Yet, they never responded and I got the notification the next movie and have continued to do so since. I should see a few friends with MP tonight for a birthday party so will see if they’ve had to take pics, too
Has anyone ever had their account cancelled? I got a new debit card and forgot to update my account so it cancelled it. Won’t even let me login to update. Do I have to make an entire new one and get a new card?
Beginning of the end? After bouncing between a multitude of payment models throughout 2016, subscription-based movie ticketing service MoviePass finally struck gold last August when it lowered the price of its unlimited plan to $9.95 per month. For less than the price of a single movie ticket in New York City, subscribers could see up to thirty movies a month in theaters. But last Friday, alongside the introduction of a limited time iHeartRadio offer, the unlimited movie plan vanished. With Coachella kicking off last weekend, MoviePass announced that it was teaming up with iHeartRadio to give new subscribers the chance to sign up for three months of MoviePass and a three month trial of iHeartRadio All Access for $29.95. The catch? This version of the membership lets you see just four movies a month. Don't Miss: Surprise! Amazon’s two best devices ever were both just discounted at the same time If you visit MoviePass.com or download the MoviePass app on your mobile device, you’ll notice that the iHeartRadio offer is the only way to sign up for the service at the moment. Although a three month trial of iHeartRadio All Access is nothing to sneeze at, I imagine that a vast majority of new subscribers would take the additional 26 or so free movies a month over an extended trial of a streaming music service. But for now, they don’t have that option. The good news is that this offer doesn’t appear to have any effect on current subscribers. If you signed up for the old $9.95 monthly service before last Friday, your plan should work the same way it always has. The concern is that the four movie limit will eventually apply to all subscribers once the iHeartRadio offer ends. Of course, there’s always the possibility that MoviePass goes right back to the business model it introduced last year once the offer expires, but the company can change its terms and conditions any time. As long as it provides enough notice and doesn’t invalidate any of the annual subscriptions that its customers already paid for, it can limit every plan to four movies a month upon renewal. At the moment, there’s no evidence that MoviePass is planning to do that, but if you paid for a subscription, it might be worth keeping an eye out in the coming weeks.
They will hemorrhage subscribers if they limit the amount of movies, even if most don't need it. They pulled this bullshit on me last time I was a member where only so many tickets were available per time block per city and after an hour of being on hold they finally canceled me and said that the wait was so long because everyone else was too.
If it's only 4 movies a month when I look to sign up next month, I'll just pass on subscribing and go about my way of maybe going to the theater no more than 2 or 3 times a year.
Went to see Rampage last week. Don’t get me wrong, it was pretty terrible, but for it not costing me any money to see it on a Tuesday afternoon when I had nothing else to do, I was entertained. I think it helped that my group was the only 5 people in the theater so we could talk as loud as we wanted about how bad it was. I also love the rock in general so I may be a bit biased there too
I like it for the classic showings they do. The sound of forks hitting plates, people chewing, and waiters shuffling down the aisle is too much if I've never seen the movie
Seeing Super Troopers tonight with 3 of my 4 best friends. We all watched the original in the theater, but one of them is a fucking pussy who “can’t do a 9:30 movie on a Tuesday.” Mother fucker, you’ll be home by 11:30
Yep. Changed today. The app might still let you do repeat viewings but I bet Moviepass will terminate the contracts of those that continue to do it.
All the articles Ive been reading saying the new MP offer where you can only see 4 movies a month will probably be the new norm.
How many movies are you seeing per month? I'm assuming they're doing this to those that go more frequently.
