Looked at 11am to see if my planned screening of Maltese falcon was in platform and listed available...it was so I felt comfortable going to theater....only to arrive (640pm) and see no more showings available. I did a quick check and every single theater was listed the same way. Checked in app help, given auto reply and my inquiry was closed. Thankfully we had vouchers on hand, but that's a bait and switch imo
I just looked at the app this morning and Mission Impossible was available.....might try to go see a midday showing and see what happens. Will be the first time since the Bankruptening
https://www.businessinsider.com/wal...es-selling-collapsing-moviepass-shares-2018-8 oops! One retiree investor told Business Insider he used the analyst coverage as part of his decision to pour almost $190,000 into Helios. His stake is now worth about $240.
There have 0 movies in my area for weeks. I looked around yesterday and couldn't find a theater within 60 miles that had movies available. This was at ~2 pm. This might be the end for me
My understanding is that moviepass has some sort of deal in place with the e-ticketing places so all the standard screenings are available as long as you haven’t already seen any of the films.
I cancelled. I didn't want to wait 9 months to sign back up if it worked itself out. I figure I can probably just use a different email if I want to sign back up.
Did the same. Checked that our show was available all through dinner. Got to the theatre and it was gone. Already cancelled so we said fuck it, and checked in to The Meg and walked into our show.
I get the striking suspicion they greatly limit the movie options on Friday through Sunday since that's when most people would go to the movies. I say that because I checked all weekend and Slenderman and The Meg were the only movies available to me since Friday. I check this morning and all the normal showings are available again.
was thinking about this a little bit this weekend. how many of yall would be willing to pay $10-15/month for the following: -movies are restricted the first two weeks they come out. -three weeks for marvel/disney/blockbuster etc. -after that, you can see as many movies as you would like with no restrictions. -if you prepay for a year via a moviepass credit card, the restrictions are lifted for one movie each month -each time you buy a ticket via moviepass, you receive 25% off concessions if you buy with a moviepass credit card -there is a movie of the week (or the month) that not included in the 2-3 week restriction seems like this could be a decent way to try to monetize this business? people would likely not use their moviepass subscriptions to see big blockbuster movies, which has totally shit on their business model. also, without doing a ton of research, movies make almost all of their revenue the week they open, and to a lesser extent, the second week. perhaps both studios and theaters would be willing to cut some sort of deal with moviepass to get butts in the seats for the third and fourth week the movies are out in which demand declines significantly. could studios make money giving moviepass a 40% discount on tickets sold in the 3rd-5th week movies are in theaters and make money? would theaters be willing to give moviepass a kickback on profits from people buying concessions using moviepass in the 3rd-5th week movies are in theaters? could be a win/win for everyone involved. it could also help moviepass in the hope that people will pay for shit on their credit card and then carry a balance. obviously people who are using moviepass to see guardians of the galaxy 5x in the opening two weeks wouldnt be interested in this. but it seems like a lot of you are using it either on weekdays to kill time or on weekends to get out of the house. the current business model is clearly not sustainable.
Can take out all that extra stuff, and I'd still sign up for this at $15. Even keep the restriction on each movie only once, I'm fine with that as well. My selection of movies today includes slender man, that's it. Not great bob.
Everything was available this morning, so I went and bought a ticket. When my girlfriend went after 12, slender Man was the only available option. Wtf
Same thing happened to my wife and I. So we checked in for slender man and bought tickets for mission impossible
Yep her subscription runs out tomorrow so I told her to just check in for Slenderman and buy the other ticket
My scheduled monthly renewal date is this week, if Moviepass ignores my cancellation request I might just...
They’re literally ignoring cancellations. This was in the email: “Please note: if you had previously requested cancellation prior to opting-in, your opt-in to the new plan will take priority and your account will not be cancelled.”
Mine alternates between no showings and only Slenderman. At least they got rid of ticket verification.
If they really got rid of ticket verification for everyone then just do what y’all have done with before with checking in and purchasing another movie Or do what I did and refund the ticket for a rain check or some sort of theater credit equivalent
No opt-in or opt-out option for me yet since I signed up for the annual plan. Just checked today and Mission Impossible is the only option available. Such shit.
