Finished last night, still kinda processing how I feel about the season. Dug the concept, dug most of the execution. Loved the little stuff, show was soundtracked very well, house was gorgeous, etc. I second Fran Tarkenton 's suggestion of rotating Smith couples from season to season. Would be great to see Parker Posey and her one eyed John come back for another appearance. The High Risk Smiths fascinated me
Just wrapped the season. Lot of meat still on the bone imo hope they continue the story also way to go on the locales for the missions. The show “looked” amazing if you know what I mean. Beautifully shot. Would take a full Bev ep with the other spy agency
It's been a few months since I watched, but they made the whole season about their relationship and they didn't reveal much of anything about what their missions were accomplishing. If we're just assuming Glover died, then it kinda feels like they wasted a lot of time trying to get the audience to care about a relationship that we'll never see again. I'll still continue to watch because it was a solid show and it will be interesting to see who they get for season 2.
Regardless of who the characters are the show would suck if they didn't make you care about them, so that alone can't be the reason why they should have continued along with them. I just felt the ending was clear, and was only a matter of accepting what we knew happened. There is a reason we all counted the shots. I guess they could have wriggled out of it if they chose, but that would have been a cop out, IMO.
I think the beginning of the show showed they were going to keep coming after them until they killed them. Best to move on to another couple even though I really liked them.
been a while since i watched but i think the ending was fairly ambiguous and intentionally so. iirc, she said she had 1 round left and we heard 3 shots but the first two shots were pretty quick in succession. and they had just done an entire season (and finale) about how they weren't truthful to each other. I'm not sad that the show is moving on from them - i like change, i dug the season we got - but they could've came back for a second season if they wanted to write it.
The beginning of the show made it clear they were going to keep going after the Mr./Mrs. at the time. So even if we think they survived/made it away for a while they were going to end up dead. Unless they planned to do a whole season on the run and eventually dying in the last episode, I think it was a good idea to move on to new leads.
Now I'm confused. I thought this was going to be like Lotus with a new cast every year? But I do admit Maya has grown on me.
Eydelshteyn and Thatcher make an interesting combo I could get behind interesting they're bringing back Glover and Erskine...flashbacks maybe? Or maybe the new husband and wife team being introduced was working simultaneously and adjacent to the Glover/Erskine and Parker Posey/Moura "Smith" teams
Honestly would be dumb if they survived and weren't the main characters going forward, so I suspect it is flashbacks that introduce the new characters and maybe their deaths. In no way is it making it sound like they have major roles. I really hope not even though I enjoyed them both and love Glover.
There’s no way they are back just living normal on missions and helping the new couple or are the other couple after season one. They should be on the run or getting killed at some point. Hmmm on the run but run into another couple and they help them try to escape or are being hunted by them.
