Yeah it definitely looks that way. But it's confusing because we know Elliot is schizo when we didn't know Edward Norton was.
Team not obsessed with whether mr robot is in his head and the plot points are what keep me interested.
Just started watching the 2nd episode of this. I have to say that I am very impressed with this show. The inner dialogue reminds me of one of my favorite movies appocolypse now.
I thought last episode dipped in quality, but holy fuck did that episode deliver. Also, Tyrell's wife is a bad bitch. Still not sure how his storyline is going to eventually tie into the overall arc of the show though.
The last episode was great. A girl like Darlene isn't usually my type but damn I want to go in raw on her in some dark alley.
Bravo to USA for letting someone with a good vision do what he wants: Esmail started writing "Mr. Robot" as a feature film, but turned it into a television show when the project got too long and unwieldy. And so for all the mold-breaking hacking scenes and drama we've seen so far, Season 1, in the showrunner's eyes, is basically exposition. "I don’t even consider what we’re doing this season to be that huge. It was just the setup for the real story which really begins next season, which would have been Act 2 of our film," he said. Fans can expect more focus on the relationship between Elliot and Mr. Robot, he explained. We'll see Elliot's mental health issues slowly made clear, too. And more of this season's most underrated character: E Corp suit Tyrell Wellick's wife, Joanna, a classic "old-school Lady Macbeth" type, Esmail said.
I thought that last scene was a real turning point for the show because it was really the first time I kind of gave a shit about Elliot.
Can't believe I'm saying this about a USA show but Malek deserves an Emmy nom for this. Still trying to figure out what is going on at Evil Corp. They now have that dude who was awesome on Rubicon there so hope he does some cool shit.
Sepinwall's ep recap already out: Spoilers obviously http://www.hitfix.com/whats-alan-watching/review-mr-robot-reveals-some-secrets-in-a-bonkers-episode Best part is not a spoiler: On Saturday night, "Mad Men" creator Matthew Weiner came to the TCA Awards to support winner Jon Hamm, and he spent much of the night telling any critic who would listen how much he loves "Mr. Robot." He had only seen the first three episodes at that point, so I can only imagine the level his fervor will reach by the time he gets to this one. But the intensity, the imagination, and sheer confidence of the storytelling on the writing, directing, and acting levels on display in this one illustrate exactly why the creator of one of the greatest TV shows ever made would have fallen so hard for this strange new show.
Toward the end of the episode, I found myself thinking: "Good episode. It was a slow burn, but still fantastic..." Then the last five minutes happened.
When Mr Robot was in the car with Tyrell it had me 100% convinced that was a version of Elliot. Now I'm being told it is his supposed to be dead dad and Darlene is his sister? So he just blocked out his dad? So confused. But that was awesome. Lady Tyrell is amazing and gives me such a fear boner.
Also have to say that Whiterose scene was just awesome TV. Show has a real confidence. I can see how this dude got Emmy Rossum.
I didn't watch the credits so I didn't recognize him until I read this post. It's not as mind-blowing as the last bit of tonight's episode but it's up there somewhere.
Stole this from reddit... a great example of why this show is so good... attention to detail... "Wanna get high and watch your favorite movie?"
