This isn't necessarily a spoiler since most people probably won't do it unless told beforehand, but just in case... Spoiler Andy Greenwald said he's been told to watch past the credits after the season finale.
Eventually the fight club talk should stop...stories and plots get repeated all the time and I love what Mr Robot does and ultimately Elliot is way more fucked up and I'm thinking another manifestation may come up (Shayla)
It would be interesting if we went into next season with a time jump and Elliot having created another false reality around himself. It would shift the dynamic where we as the audience are 'in the know' this time around. For example, he's living with Shayla or something. Of course, then we'd all be speculating she never actually died this season. My brain would probably explode halfway into the season.
We do know that we have a very unreliable narrator. I don't know that we are able to trust anything. A major example is the conversations Tyrell had with both "Mr Robot" and with Eliot. I have to watch them again but I remember Tyrell telling Robot he knew was behind the attacks. If we are to believe that scene actually took place, and it was Eliot why would Tyrell say the same things to Eliot in his apartment.
God damn what an episode. Been playing catch up all year and finally able to sit down and watch the last 3 episodes this weekend. What a great show
Wow Andy Greenwald @andygreenwald 1m1 minute ago USA announces that tonight's MR. ROBOT season finale is being delayed a week due to a graphic scene "similar in nature" to today's shooting.
@sepinwall: Having seen the "Mr. Robot" scene in question, no way anyone would be thinking about anything but Virginia tonight http://www.hitfix.com/the-dartboard...t-finale-due-to-parallels-to-virginia-murders
For some reason I thought last week was the finale. Pleasant surprise then let down that its being pushed back a week.
Murder is awful. Murder that mentions my home town massacre as motivation is worse. Murder that also delays the best season 1 of a show I have ever seen is just insulting. But now we know something big happens. Mr robot in a mask taking out Colby on camera?
If I understood Greenwald correctly, they are going to cut the scene out, but it won't change the plot much.
Where are you seeing that? I read that they were just postponing the finale to next Wednesday. Didn't see they were cutting the scene.
It was from a tweet yesterday: "Having seen it, I agree that USA was right to reconsider. The finale is excellent, though. Don't expect that to change, even with an edit." With that said, I just read a longer article he wrote about it after the tweet, and he says this: "I have no knowledge of what, if any changes might be made to the episode...USA sources would not comment at this time." http://grantland.com/hollywood-prospectus/why-usa-was-right-to-delay-the-mr-robot-finale/
Just caught up, amazing show. I'm trying to wrap my head around the scene between Robot and Tyrell in the car. I could be wrong, but every time we see Robot, isn't Elliot also in the same scene? In the car, it was only Robot, Elliot was not there. If I'm right, I feel like thats a important moment but I'm not sure what it could mean.
Mr. Robot talked to the black dude in his weed den and pulled the gun on him. I think we only see Mr. Robot by himself whenever Elliot is uber aggressive or insane/psychotic.
I checked my DVR to see what they aired about the postponement and in the little message it said the finale will air in its entirety next Wednesday. Really hoping we don't end up with an edited version. Here's a tweet from the Mr. Robot twitter saying the same thing... https://twitter.com/whoismrrobot/status/636648448947843072 They may end up changing their mind and finding a way to air the episode without the scene but I hope not.
Wonder if the Heroin actually kinda kept elliot/robot subdued, and going off it made him fly off the rails.
I never watch TV shows live and I'm guessing it wont record next wednesday as part of the series. How long do i need to set my recording for next Wednesday to get it all?
probably been asked before but don't want to read the thread and get spoiled...this worth a binge watch? I actually watched the pilot and liked it, but haven't watched since for whatever reason. thinking of binge watching this weekend, but wanted to know if it finished strong. tia.
Absolutely. I am caught up. Will probably re-watch all episodes before the finale next Wednesday. It's that good.
I am curious about this as well. Not sure how to take that scene in the car with Tyrell and Mr. Robot. Anyone wanna explain?
Absolutely worth a binge watch. I watched the first 6 episodes in a day to get started. Have re-watched basically all 9 episodes at least once or twice with friends getting them into the show as well. I would probably set it for 10PM to 11:45PM if that's possible just to be safe. I believe it's supposed to be 90 minutes with commercials but there is supposed to be something after the credits as well so you'll probably want to make sure you get that.
I think the persona of Mr. Robot manifests itself as only Mr. Robot when Eliot has to be the "bad guy" or demand something from someone.
Thanks. For some reason, in the first episode when Tyrell and Elliot first meet at Allsafe, I have a feeling that they have previously worked together before. Probably not and I am just trying to create theories, but when Tyrell says that he started as a tech too, I just feel that they have worked together and Tyrell is preying on the fact that he knows Elliot has amnesia and doesn't remember him from previous encounters.
Also, I have to believe that Tyrell's wife giving up her first child has to play some sort of factor in the story. I doubt they would have a conversation about that if it did not matter. Did they ever mention how old the main characters are?
Binge? No not in the normal sense. I couldn't watch more than 2-3 episodes in a row. So much goes on to fully understand . Watching too many in a row might impact the understanding of the show.
It's just a Tyler Durden thing. It's always Eliot just a couple times we saw him as Mr Robot. It was a more aggressive Eliot but it was Eliot nevertheless.
I could get on board with this. It's like the first season of True Detective. I really needed time to decompress after each episode and give it some thought. Plus, there was some really, really high quality posting/theorizing ITT throughout the week. Same with this show. I'm pleased I've watched it since the premiere and have been forced to wait a week in between episodes.
Attention to detail like this is one of the reasons Breaking Bad was so incredible. If this show keeps up, then it might be in that level of discussion.
I remember reading something in Entertainment Weekly months ago about upcoming TV shows and they actually did a little more than the average blurb for Mr. Robot. It mentioned Esmail and his people wanting to do a hacking show right and how they had consultants and everything in place to make sure everything was as authentic as possible. I was immediately interested but that interest was mostly squashed when I saw who was in it... Christian Slater. I couldn't remember the last good thing he did so I avoided the show at first. Solid reviews started popping up all over the place and then my dad mentioned it to me and here we are.
When I saw Slater in the first episode, I almost turned it off. Thankfully he has been tolerable. I still don't like him, however.
Not gonna lie, pretty damn excited for the finale tonight. I don't get much in to TV, but I did watch season 1 of True Detective and I was pumped as hell for that finale. This is up there on the excitement level.
