The jeni's on 12th south is hilarious...there's always like 300 people there...also saw about 50 people waiting in a line to take a picture in front of a mural on 12 S on Sunday
I just don't understand the appeal of taking a pic in front of that or the wings in the gulch. I'm not a basic bitch kardashian wannabe so that may have something to do with it.
One of the things that most confuses me is why everyone in 12 S wears flowing robes with holes everywhere...looks like the set of some post apocalyptic Mad Max type movie
The I believe in Nashville sign makes me hate the fact I am from Nashville The guy who started all that shit grew up in my neighborhood and has the lamest parents ever. What kind of man wears a beret??
No doubt but I used to love it before that area was stupid. I am talking mafiozas in 2004/5/6. It was fucking great back then when it was just a neighborhood hangout.
hipsters are insufferable yet so are people who bitch and moan about hipsters. There are plenty of good places in this town. Love the updated Melrose Billiards, usually pretty empty. Old Gas Station and Corsair brewing are very enjoyable and laid back. Love Big Al's or Sweet 16th for breakfast. Wish the city had one more big park but I like sevier and elmington park.
Wings and 2-for-1 beers on Tuesday plus the new Fat Bottom, Nations Bar and Grill. Also a new 12th south taproom and I think Turtle Anarchy is moving into a space in the nations within the next year. Pretty awesome. Farm Burger is the shit. And all the good pho in town (VN Deli is my jam on a sunday morning).
do you even live here anymore? Like I said, what is just as annoying as bachelor bros and yuppies are people who spend all there time in East Nashville or at an old dive bar whining about THE OLDEN DAYS. I'm sure there are lots of average cities that you can move to if you want to feel like it is just you and your local buds all the time. Otherwise, nut up and accept the good with the bad. I go to Corner Bar, Gold Rush, Villager Tavern, Mickey's and Melrose all the time. And most of them are rarely half full. Stop whining.
if we are gonna whine, let's whine about how overrated TN Brew Works is. Love the patio but that beer is so meh. Doesn't warrant the popularity in my humble whiny vagina. or maybe how the city doesn't need 3-5 Hattie B's.
I wish it was good. I really do. I'd love for there to be a great taco joint. Taco Mamacita, San Antonio, and Del Sol are all okay but nothing great. Best tacos are at Mas Tacos or various local taco trucks. Why can't they just be that?
as have Edley's and Martin's. I saw Edley's is opening in Lexington, KY next month. God bless Peg Leg for refusing to open another location but instead just making the current location a two-story place. I've heard good things about ooh-wee
i've heard mixed things (mainly with $$$, tacos shouldn't cost two people 25 bucks, kinda like with bartaco) but I spotted it when grabbing a hungover breakfast at Wendell Smith's and will have to go one day
if anyone goes to Fannie Mae's where 400 degrees used to be, let me know. I've read they are good people, local/family type stuff.
It's a little pricey for a lunch spot...totally worth it at dinner particularly if you're splitting starter plates with a group. I don't think bar taco, mamacita, etc are even close.
went to Taco Mamacita a couple times with some women I used to work with and made sure to never go back food was good for sure but way too expensive for Mexican food and the portions weren't big enough for the price. Team US Border Cantina till I die
less than 3 months till PWR BTTM @ Mercy Lounge tickets for MMJ w/ Margo Price go on sale 3/17 @ 9 AM MT
They are lined up down here at Municipal already. Vendors out here setting up tables of Trump shit. I have one 10AM appt. Should be over in an hour, then my ass is going SE.
I agree that it used to be good. But the change in ownership has really killed that place. Food is pretty shitty and service is even worse, now. Thni I've told this on here before. But, a Vandy friend was back in town a few months ago so we went to local taco. It was a random wednesday night. Place probably had 10-15 total people in there and our food took 35 minutes to come out. And half of our tacos were cold. Probably not ever going back. I used to live walking distance to Neighbors and went 1-2 times a week. Moved out to West Meade so I don't visit nearly as often anymore. Farm burger is my new burger go-to, when I'm not headed to the east side for Pharmacy. Burger Up is too damn crowded. Need to get back to VN Pho. It seems like every time I think about it, its a Tuesday night and they are closed. Love the patio and Bluegrass night on Wednesdays is great. Food is pretty good, too. But agree that the beer is very meh.
I really hope we didn't cause this to happen with all of our ranting yesterday... Apparently we aren't the only ones that feel this way about these murals. http://www.wsmv.com/story/34852890/i-believe-in-nashville-mural-vandalized-in-12-south
I'll be in town next month for the Vandy/Florida baseball series and my dad's retirement party But no way I'd miss a CBI and Women's NIT game to vandalize that lame mural
I think they should leave it that way! Kind of a more accurate description of what Nashville is. Neat and clean but don't forget there's some parts that are darker and a touch messier.
Nashville Taco Rankings 1. Local Taco - Fish tacos with jalepenos and lime ranch? Bomb ass queso? 2. Taco Mamacita - The Sloppy José + sweet potato fries + that spicy ketchup shit? 3. Mas Tacos Everything else is okay. Additionally, I didn't know where to rank SATCO here. I obviously love it but is it really a taco place? Nah.
Really weird that you get off on others people's hard work being defaced. DGAF about the murals but its stupid as fuck to think its awesome when someone defaces them.
Lol the guy who worked so hard on that mural went around our neighborhood calling himself Cookie the Dinosaur as a kid
Its ATL man. I don't think he has liked anything Nashville has done in the last few years. He will be forever "old Nashville is best Nashville". I mean he said I was a proud tea party member because I said I wouldn't be looking to leave the state based on the governor.
I mean... I'm all for being nostalgic and all, but let's be honest with ourselves. This massive injection of people, jobs, capital, etc. stands to make all of us a lot of fucking money for being here during "old nashville". Does it suck that Nashville isn't the quaint shithole it used to be? Meh, not really.
