http://woolworthonfifth.com/about/ this place is right downtown across from the arcade. Seems like it is gonna be a big deal
Was in Nashville this past weekend. Second time there but first time to hang out outside of downtown. Bar hopped Friday night (ended the night at Duke's ). Did barista parlor for breakfast/brunch Saturday, Bearded Iris Brewery, quick stop by Frugal Mac Dougal, then Five Points Pizza, a show at Basement East and closed out the night at Crying Wolf. Had a great time even though it literally rained the entire weekend.
nashville gets to be at the center of attention for the CBD/MMJ conversation. They just shut down 23 businesses for CBD this morning.
I was downtown all day Saturday. Went to a place called Stillery in Midtown for brunch that was pretty good and let me make a reservation the day before. Then we went to Yazoo, Jackalope and Tennessee Brew Works. After the breweries most of the crowd was fading, but I and a few others forged ahead to Attaboy then to Edley's for dinner.
anyone do a tennis league in Nashville? Realize the answer is probably no, just wondering what ppl think are the best leagues. City Tennis is aight, but pretty bare bones.
Downtown is easily the worst thing about Nashville. The Stillery in midtown just opened like a month ago. But you ended your night with dinner at Edleys? That’s not how you Nashville.
Oh I forgot about this. 5 points is such a giant shit show after the east brew fest let’s out. It’s like tomato fest x10.
I didn't define it as the quintessential Nashville trip. I grew up in Brentwood and live in Birmingham so I have ample opportunities to come back. With how much Nashville has expanded since I moved away in 2011 I am probably going to need to get an airbnb next time instead of commuting up from my friends or mom's houses in Brentwood/Franklin.
https://nashville.eater.com/2018/2/15/17017422/pied-piper-eatery-soulshine-pizza-closing-nashville Soulshine Pizza Factory in Midtown abruptly closed its doors after service this past Sunday night. CEO Don Clifford tells the Nashville Scene that the five-year-old restaurant and music venue “was not doing what we wanted it to do in sales. It never really recovered with the patio being enclosed, and so we just want to look at something different — different areas.” But Soulshine’s owners are currently working on plans for a new concept for the space located at 1907 Division St., one that could still have a live music component. In the meantime, the other four locations, including one just south of town in Franklin, remain open. And just yesterday morning news broke that East Nashville restaurant Pied Piper Eatery would be closing its doors after service this upcoming Sunday, Feb. 18. Opened at 1601 Riverside Drive in 2008, the quirky diner’s closure was announced with the following post to social media:
Good riddance to Soulshine. The only thing about that place that will be missed is their hot tamales.
Another Nashville staple is abruptly closing its doors, as Provence Breads & Cafe will cease operations at the end of business today. Located at 1705 21st Avenue S. in Hillsboro Village, an employee at Provence confirmed to Eater Nashville over the phone that today is indeed its last day, with the business closing at 7 p.m. A reason for the shutter is not currently known, but the employee says that it came as a shock to everyone. Opened in 1996 by Terry Carr-Hall, the bakery has long been a major source for artisan breads, both for walk-in retail sales and for a laundry list of restaurants around Nashville over the past twenty-plus years. Provence additional satellite locations will also shutter, as they are supplied daily by the main Hillsboro Village location. This story is still developing, so be sure to check back for more updates.
That’s pretty crazy. I used to go there all the time when I worked at the Villager. Shitty ass Pancake Pantry should be the one closing it’s doors.
I loved Soulshine for the above average pizza and the good live music. The assholes in the Adelicia are the reason that place closed.
Let’s be honest — generally popular things are shit or at the very least kind of base. They’re good at first (some times), get popular and then become a shell of its former self because they sacrifice quality to compensate. I think most people will agree with that. But I don’t see the need for more two story sports bars playing the same craft beer, shitty food and shitty live music card. It’s a bad template for Nashville and doesn’t add anything to the city. I just don’t get why they’re popular (but to be fair I think that’s all so saturated now that these places can’t sustain themselves anymore as evidenced by some of these places now closing. Hopefully Nobles is next on the chopping block.) I don’t dislike popular things based on the fact that they’re popular but something being popular doesn’t mean it’s good (see Pinewood Social or really anything on Broadway outside of Robert’s.)
I wasn’t necessarily talking about this last post. I just remember you loving IPAs a few years ago then hating them once they became more popular. That is in line with your over saturation point though. Not saying a disagree with you, by the way.
Honestly I just got burnt out on craft beer. I generally don’t like craft beer anymore because it’s just kind of jumped the shark in some ways and it doesn’t have the appeal anymore. Plus I just prefer to drink light lagers because they’re less filling and more “fun” to drink. Also it just seems like every time I’m at a craft beer bar or a popular bar I get stuck behind someone asking “what IPAs do you have on tap?” It’s an easy target. I still love my Trappist ales though.
So much agreement on the lagers. I too used to be a craft beer guy. Got burnt out. Now I’m all about Stella or Pilsner urquell if I’m being cunty. Coors light / bud light if I’m just pounding beers.
What are some good options for a business dinner? We have a new vendor that is taking us to a partnership dinner. Need some mid to high dollar places to recommend
It looks like East Nashville is about to be blessed with more doughnut options, as East Park Donuts & Coffee is slated to open later this year. Located at 700 Main Street, the new concept takes the space formerly home to Bagel Face Bakery, which abruptly closed its doors last summer. It’s early on in the construction process, with the interior currently getting cleaned out and a temporary sign declaring ‘East Park Donuts & Coffee Coming Soon’ hanging on the front facade.
How big of a group? We’ve had a work dinner for about 15 people at Urban Grub twice before and it was great both times.
They have a nice private room for a group that size. Will accommodate a ppt presentation as well if you need that. Probably worth checking out.
She's claiming the photos "weren't taken with her consent." It's also interesting that this information is being leaked in an active investigation....these types of files are supposed to be sealed until the end of the investigation. The "taken without consent" thing is hard to believe....or, at a minimum, incredibly suspicious. Still in the boat that if they can prove she committed a crime or misused taxpayer dollars, then she should resign.
Not to mention she won't unlock her phone for the investigators. Not that I blame her tbh............but it causes her a perception problem at a minimum.
New Chick fil A in midtown https://www.bizjournals.com/nashvil...4xyRlPlcKwwgw077c8543&t=1519420580&j=80170861
The new one in Metrocenter has been below average the couple of times I ate breakfast there. All I order is a spicy biscuit or minis.
