Stay somewhere with a lot of walkable options — rideshare has been expensive and it’s best to schedule rides ahead if you can. I use EarthRides mostly now. If you’re trying to rent a car and haven’t made those arrangements yet I would start now. Best walkable options are gonna be east side and midtown.
Probably not many of this crew’s scene, but if any of y’all are going to this on Thursday, I’m playing the closing set after SNBRN. Also have a few extra tickets if anyone wants a free one.
How is Loews Vanderbilt hotel?
Doesn't need to be fancy just clean and safe place to park a car. Meeting up with two friends.
Look at this stranger. Big time now and comes here to promote. If I didn't have my little girl Thursday, I'd be there.
Yall tell me what to add or update and I will.
What kind of music? I'm so far behind on new music, but I'll go out and enjoy just about any type.
Ha, more like Trump isn’t president anymore so I don’t have to doomscroll the politics threads incessantly. I’m still here every day
No worries at all though. Just thought it might be fun to finally link up with some of y’all if anyone was gonna be there. We’ll have to catch a show or two together at Roo this year
This one’s all house music. Definitely not for everyone but it will be a good intro to the genre and a fun crowd
I also throw a free event at Rebar every Tuesday showcasing local artists and DJ’s if you’re ever feeling spicy. It’s a ton of fun if you’re really down with any kind of music.
I almost asked if you were coming. Haven't seen you post in our thread any. I'm so ready. Need that schedule so I can make my final playlist culls. I may actually watch a set at The Other this year
Also, I will send you a text if I come up to rebar one Tues night.
Oh i can absolutely enjoy some house/rave/techno or whatever. I'll have to come check a show out.
That's badass, I love house music. House from early to mid 2000's is what got me into EDM of today.
Ekali, Wooli, William Black, and Seven Lions Saturday at Roo. Stage times should be coming out soon?
It is nasty hot today.
Bill Lee and his cohorts are such pieces of shit.
It’s really something.
Pro life party
Im really struggling with this. I love my home state, but this shit is fucked.
Their covid 19 response was bad enough. Now they are actively discouraging vaccines of all types for kids. Just completely fucked.
Pro life party actively putting kids at risk.
great show. Opening act was pretty damn good too. Some funky southern blues rock with a side of soul.
Thank god we have input from this guy:
Software developer that specializes in bad movies, good beer, mediocre music and being frustrated with Tottenham Hotspur.
That article is hot garbage. Bolded text is from the shitty article
This, of course, won’t stop random “experts” from saying stupid headline-grabbing shit like “these kids will die”.
Random? Dr. Georges Benjamin, the executive director of the American Public Health Association (APHA), told TPM in a phone interview. “Too many Tennessean kids will die.”
Georges C. Benjamin is an American public health official who has served as Executive Director of the American Public Health Association since 2002, and previously as Secretary of the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene in the Cabinet of Governor Parris Glendening from 1999 to 2002.
He did not say all kids will day. He said too many. How many is acceptable to you:
Nevermind that for a decade Tennessee has ranked in the top 10 for MMR vaccines among kindergarteners, along with over 90% vaccinated for DTaP, polio, chicken pox, MMR and Hepatitis B.
Ever stop to think that the State's support for vaccinating children led to these high numbers? Which may fall without the support the state used to provide? If the state is pulling back its recommendations and communication regarding vaccinating minors, there will be an impact on vaccine #s
Nevermind that these same experts aren’t sounding the alarm about 23 million kids missing routine vaccinations thanks to our COVID response.
Ya man, I am sure medical experts are not concerned about children missing necessary and routine vaccinations.
Also, that is a global stat. Not sure how it is relevant to a TN story.
Nevermind that Tennessee infant vaccinations were down 70% month to month in 2020 versus 2019 thanks to “safer at home” orders and school closures.
The article linked to support this "fact" doesn't blame "safer at home" orders or school closures. This person obviously has an axe to grind and is making shit up
Nevermind that 5.82 billion of the world’s population remain unvaccinated for COVID-19, with only 1% of people in low income countries receiving a dose.
Against, this is irrelevant to the issue.
What studies we do have show symptoms of long COVID are no more likely in children that have had COVID than those who haven’t. I’m willing to concede we do not know any longer term effects than what time has passed so far, as long as the author is also willing to concede that we know no more of the long term effects of the COVID-19 vaccine in children, which has only been emergency authorized for use in ages 12 through 15 since May 2021.
So this person doesn't want to get vaccines to kids because it has only been authorized for emergency use? lol, cool dude. Where have I heard that before?
Food and music talk is more fun.
Who has better tacos than 51st Deli on the west side of town? I'm out of my element here but won't hate on 51st ever. Sylvan feels like I've moved to an entirely different city.
Taqueria del Sol isn’t bad, and has a good mix of options. Not as authentic as 51st deli, though. Definitely interested in the responses to this.
I missed UpDown opening soon in East Five Points
arcade bar. Seems cool
Scored a cheap ticket to the Black Crowes and Dirty Honey at Ascend tonight. First time on Broadway in a while. A little faith was restored walking by Rippys.
Heard Life of Sin and Somedays by Sturgill on their speakers.
Will be in Nashville from tomorrow to Sunday, staying downtown. What are one or two hot chicken places I've got to go to while I'm here if I ask the thread.
Thanks in advance of course.
The Black Crowes fucking killed it tonight. Tilly they are playing at the Ascend amphitheatre downtown. I'd highly recommend going tomorrow for anyone. Ticketmaster still had $19.90 lawns a few hours ago.
Same weekend as Pilgrimage
Googled and found that they play in multiple venues.
Is this replacing Live On The Green?
No. Two totally separate things.
Live on the Green is coming back next year.
Any one care to remind me the details of the back end cap deal with his trade if he didn't finish his contact or something?
Preds are more fucked than the Lightning, but at least we got two cups out of our situation.
I don’t see the Preds being “great” again for awhile.
Rolling Stones have been rescheduled for October 9th
They weren't ever really great though. This team has either started off hot early and sizzled in the end, or was lethargic and then managed to regroup and peak right before playoffs.
Poile was praised as a genious when I moved here and now people are quickly turning on him. He's the small market equivalent of Sam Presti and the Thunder, except it's easier to wiggle out of contracts and stack draft picks in the NBA compared to NHL. Instead of making this team better we let Duchene crowd up our cap space so he could sing his nursery rhymes downtown during the end of Pekka's prime.
You never know with the Central Division and parody in hockey but this team and the contract situation doesn't look good on paper for next year.
Once Upon A Time in France guys who are about to open OVERLORD are also opening this gem on the east side:
The Garth brooks concert being delayed/postponed seemed like such a nightmare
The idiot metro council members that supported removing traffic lanes and replaced them with bike lanes are to blame. Commerce was already a shit show pre 2019 when I worked downtown.
In Nashville now. Any recs where to watch usmnt game later?
I like Neighbors in Germantown. I’ve gone there with a buddy to watch Ole Miss games.
We went to third and home to catch part of the Sound baseball game then went over to Neighbors
What are everyone’s favorite breakfast places? Got a buddy and his son coming in town this weekend and was gonna try and meet them for breakfast. Is Monell’s still doing family style since covid? Don’t really feel like waiting in a huge line for pancake pantry. Any other favorite spots?
I would suggest brunch.
Tavern or Saint Anejo
Sinema or The Sutler
If you only want breakfast:
Big Bad Breakfast
Sky Blue Cafe
My friend was flying from Nashville to Chicago on Southwest tonight and the flight gets cancelled bc 12 passengers refused to wear masks on the plane or give their names.
