Mothers Ruin>Sonnys>Monday night brewing> Monells -that whole scene would be considered Germantown, correct? That might be worth doing just to mix it up and try different areas.
Here’s what I got so far Stuff to Do -top golf -Southern Grist-best brewery in Nashville-go here and drink beer -Pharmacy in East nashville: beer garden that also has good burgers. -12 south is another great area for walking around and eating -Germantown-Mothers Ruin is one of my favorite bars and in my favorite neighborhood. You're next to Monell's here for some midnight brunch. Sonnys is a decent spot down the road to regroup for a drink with their outdoor patio. Bearded Iris (brewery) has a large taproom, and Monday Night is right down the street or greenway in a really cool building next to the Cumberland river. They serve cocktails. Bars -Start at 5 Points and through East Nashville. Tons of cool spots right off Gallatin. Red Door, Attaboy, Pearl Diver, The Fox & Mickeys Tavern to name a few. -Chopper tiki bar is supposed to be cool and I know they have a famous taco truck there. -Urban cowboy public house is also a pretty cool, chill spot to hang out and get drinks plus they have a Roberta’s pizza there that’s really famous. -Broadway for the big touristy bars and honkey tonks -Go to Southern Grist brewery Lunch Broadway Brewhouse midtown von elrods butchertown hall bottle cap taqueria del sol edleys ML Rose Dinner Options -steak houses: Oak, Halls, Carne Mare, kayne prime, bourbon steak, Jeff rubys. -The Continental has really good prime rib -Audrey-Sean Brock restaurant-he won a bunch of James Beards awards-this is his Appalachian inspired restaurant -Husk-Sean Brock restaurant-he won a bunch of James Beards awards-southern food but fancy-nola bbq shrimp, duck, pork chop, etc. -Adeles-farm to table overall fine dining good restaurant-gnocchi, mahi maji , NY Strip, -Sundra-nice/fancy Asian restaurant thay looks incredible-Has dim sum, sushi, entrees such as NY Strip with soy or koji marinated Filet . sezechuan chicken -Moto-very good looking Italian restaurant -Urban Grub -Geist -The Optimist -Italian-Yolan -Thai Esane-another good looking asian restaurant -Bbq-Peg Leg Porker BBQ Late Night Food -Dinos Bar-cheeseburgers, hot chicken
Correct. I'd try to make a stop for breakfast or lunch at Big Als Deli too. Call ahead if it's a large group. Germantown is walkable too. Chopper Tiki is a good callout. Maiz de la Vida is the food truck there. There's also Alebrije parked outside Honeytree Meadery in East Nashville. And you're not far from Joyland, which is Sean Brock's version of fast food. The crust burger is pretyy legit. Late night food I'd also look at Arnold's. They are open until 11 most nights but have a bar. Arnold's and Big Als you will not leave hungry and probably with an entire to go box. Edit: I'd argue that Southern Grist being the best brewery in Nashville. They don't make a lot of traditional beer. Lots of flavored stouts, kettle sours, and flavored IPAs. Bearded Iris has the best IPAs in the state. Barrique, which will likely be empty, but is across from Top Golf and makes some of the best pilsners and lagers I've ever had.
Speaking of breweries has anyone been to Fait la Force? I've heard good things about that spot as well but haven't made it over yet.
Chopper Tiki is fucking great and right next to Dino’s if you guys want to go take TikTok’s next to the new Dolly Parton bar in the back. I think CT is the better Tiki bar between that and Pearl Diver but PD will be better for people watching. Also Authentique is opening back up which is great.
Here's my proposed itinerary. I feel like my weak link is planning a half day around Southern Grist but I really want to go there. I'm being told I've included too many lunches and too many expensive dinners but fuck that. I'm 37 almost 38 years old. I want to eat a solid lunch every day, eat a really good dinner every night, and drink quality beers and cocktails in between with some sort of outing. We aren't 25 any more and just looking to black out on cheap beer. Fuck that. I'm somewhat outvoted on this. But anyways here's what I got so far: Thursday The Pharmacy for beers at the beer garden during the day and afternoon while folks trickle in East Nashville Dinner at “Folk”: 7PM Mothers Ruin for drinks Monday Night Brewing for beers Can go to other east Nashville bars Friday Lunch at Butcher and Bee Von Elrods Beer Hall for beer after lunch Top Golf in the early afternoon Reservations at Bourbon Steak-7:30PM Broadway for the Honkey Tonk Bars-Start at Robert’s Western World, then Acme Feed and Seed, etc Saturday Bare Bones Butcher for Lunch Southern Grist Tap Room in the Nations Neighborhood Dinner Reservations at Lockeland Table Urban Cowboy for Drinks afterwards Hit up other East Nashville bars.
This is not a bad itenarary at all. I've heard the food at Southern Grist in East Nashville is incredible in case you don't make it to The Nations. Also just be aware that Bare Bones is tiny with like 6 bar seats, but it seems like you've gotten some solid suggestions.
I’d add, Red Headed Stranger has the best tex mex style tacos in town, and mas tacos has the best “street style” tacos. Both in East Nashville and good for lunch. Would recommend either over pharmacy for food. Bare Bones is so good, and you can sit/get beer at the brewery next door and they will bring your food to you.
the owner of Mas Tacos has a bar connected to Folk also btw if you’re looking for an easy option before having to Lyft to Germantown (which sounds like you’ll be doing that a lot)
Best birria tacos in town are hands down from Taqueria El Gym and they’re stationed at Black Abbey brewery if you guys get a wild hair and want to go across town. They have birria ramen, birria pizza, etc
I need to check out Bare Bones, just down the street from me. I've been wearing out the Centennial Bar so far.
Good call on Burbon steak, it's supposed to be amazing. I haven't hit up a lot of brunch spots but Sinema and Monells are both well worth it. Bottomless mimosas and bloody Mary's at Sinema are an added bonus.
Bourbon Steak in Nashville was booked the night I wanted reservations but they have a way to apply for the reservation still which I did. In the mean time I made reservation at Kayne Prime. A few minutes ago Bourbon Steak sent me an email saying they granted me the reservation. So now I have reservations at Kayne Prime and Bourbon Steak on that Friday night. Good problem to have. Leaning towards Bourbon Steak. Anyone been to both and have thoughts on which is better?
I rank Kayne above Bourbon, but not by much. You can't go wrong either way. Bourbon has a good view, and good drinks, and we've never had a bad experience. We just love Kayne Prime's sides, steak, and desserts more.
Anyone been here yet? https://www.xiaobaonashville.com/menu https://instagram.com/xiaobao_nashville?igshid=NDk5N2NlZjQ=
yes I have been for brunch. I thought it was good, not great. It is definitely worth a try. Good Asian food by Nashville standards. The cabbage pancake was very good. I do think I didn’t make the best choices ordering and will be back to try it again. Walking out I was like…. Everyone else’s food in here looks better than what I ordered
haha just edited- the cabbage pancake was very good I’d definitely recommend that. We got an egg bao that was ok but not super flavorful and one other dish I can’t remember. It was basically just a breakfast sandwich wrapped in a bao. If I went back I’d get the more traditionally Asian dishes because those that did looked very good.
I’m obsessed with Szechuan food, it’s absolutely my favorite type of food and Nashville has very very little so I’m excited to try this place out. Edit — I know this place isn’t traditional Szechuan but I get excited about any new Asian food here
Can't vouch for Bourbon but the apps and deserts at Kayne Prime are amazing. The steaks have always been great too. Yall won't be disappointed with either.
I really have grown to loathe this city but I just got a new job so I guess I’m stuck here for another year.
Someone shit their pants, used medical gloves and a whole bunch of wipes to clean up the mess and discarded everything in a bag at the entrance of our alley. The wipes have now blown all over the park where kids play. Probably doing drugs and shit themselves while passed out?
They said it was 100% their decision and sounded like they were ready to retire. If so, good for them but it does suck. Wonder if it had anything to do with their son starting the "after dark" service?
Of late, I am calling codes, not cops, to clean up the neighborhood. Still pissed that the mattress and love seat have been in the alley since September
lol "We removed our intellectual property from the building," Cobb said in reference to the painted mural and outdoor signage. article = https://archive.ph/w77Pv
So… I guess we are getting in n out? https://www.wsmv.com/2023/01/10/in-n-out-coming-middle-tennessee/
Denver has a few. Like most of these regional chains, it underwhelms. But if you love it or used to live out there, rejoice.
What are the good brunch spots these days? Drinks don't matter as much for me since I'm not allowed to have more than one or two still but I'm sure the date will appreciate great drinks. Sinema is booked this Sunday so that's out.
Going for my buddy’s bachelor party. Need a high end steakhouse or the like for the dinner on the last night. TIA
