Horrified holidaymakers rushed to Jose Ernestor da Silva's aid and pulled him from the sea as the terrifying attack unfolded. The shark struck as lifeguards told the youngsters to come closer to the shore, according to reports. Jose passed away at the Restauracao Hospital after rescuers desperately attempted to stem his bleeding at the scene. Footage shows rescuers carrying the 18-year-old onto Piedade beach near Recife, Brazil. They try to stem the blood by tying garments around the wound, while others can be heard tell the clearly stunned teenager to “breathe”. An ambulance rushed Jose to hospital, where he reportedly suffered two heart attacks and had a leg amputated. Despite undergoing emergency surgery, his penis and femur were “amputated” by the bite of what is believed to be a tiger shark, according to medics. Rodrigo Matias, from Recife’s fire department, said the victim was swimming with his brother and friends in deep waters near the shore, in an area marked by signs warning of shark attacks. Seeing that the group was drifting further out, lifeguards called for them to return to shallower waters. He said: “At the exact moment in which the lifeguards asked for them to come closer to the beach, he was bitten.” Ambulance medic Wagner Monteiro said Jose had a heart attack after arriving at the local Aeronautica Hospital, and another as he was being transported to the Restauracao Hospital in the centre of Recife. He said: “The shark bite amputated his femur and his penis. He lost a lot of blood and is in a critical condition.” A spokesman for the Restauracao Hospital said Jose was rushed into surgery after arriving at the hospital at 5.53pm. Jose’s mother Elisangela dos Anjos, 42, told Brazil’s JC Online that he had gone to the beach without her knowing, and she only knew about after his his brother Ezequiel, who was with him, called her from the beach following the attack.
I mean, do a little math, carry the 1.... they're giant murder machines But it's cool to see stuff like that
PS, I equally fear and am fascinated by big cats. Granted, not cat but something I never forget. When I was a kid we had a 90'ish pound lab. Friendly, etc. One time he needed a shot or something and my dad had to help keep him cool and stay down. The vet said, "If he really wants to get up, he'll get up." I imagine that times 1000 for big cats. /coolstory
Absolutely. It's just striking to see a lion's strength put into context like that against 3 large, strong men.
Holding his little leg up to test the wind is amazing. I wish spiders weren't so goddamn terrifying; they're pretty cool.
This is my favorite, that little fucker has hand speed to beat up on mayweather. Unreal the power that he can produce
Orcas are the absolute apex predator in water, maybe in the world. They're also known to maul great whites.
Wife and I visited a local winery today for a tasting (thats what us aristocrats do) and food truck festival. There was a local rescue here that takes in wild animals from the area that became injured or otherwise unable to fend for themselves. I got this up close and personal pic with a wolf that wanted to get at my lunch. I wasnt about to fight him over it either. Beautiful animal, but did he ever have a set of teeth when he let out a yawn rignt before the pic.
A buddy of mine had a pet wolf. She was awesome but you could tell that at any moment, she could just be like I could kill you. She was so loving and sweet though.
Yeah man. They're wild animals. This one was a little skiddish according to the people from the rescue, they didnt want more than 2 people petting him at a time. He seemed very happy though.
Horses (and Elephants) have a fear of mice because they can run up their nostils. I’d imagine that why this horse decide to squish the small ground dwelling bird.
