Apparently, they walk, run, or bounce off the bottom for propulsion. https://www.theatlantic.com/amp/article/524343/
So I just got a notification on NextDoor that the bobcat is still roaming around the neighborhood. So I decided to check my camera system footage. Sucker was chilling under my truck. Got a good screen grab of him hanging out next to my truck. Our driveways are all in the back of the house.
We used to have a Bobcat that was in love with our bird fountain, especially when it was hot as shit. Managed to get a couple of good pics once.
A few weeks ago I saw two hawks being chased by about 12 dozen birds in the trees in our backyard. I'm sure that hawk could kill that bird with the quickness but it's crazy what swarming can do.
Bobcats are pretty chill and only about 30 lbs. They're loud as hell but not a bad critter to have around. Source: live in the woods and have a bobcat living behind my house. She shrieks all kinds of horribleness when she's in heat.
I wish they kept records of bobcats as I killed one that would have been in the record books. Took it the taxidermist and it dropped the scale that went to 40lbs. All the bobcat mounts he had didn’t fit and he had to modify one to fit.
I used to totally agree but then this happened down the road from my office last summer. Rabies could have been the issue but not confirmed. This guy barely survived after suffering 47 bite wounds. 47. http://www.dailypress.com/tidewater...tacks-man-in-king-william-20170811-story.html
Ouch. They are relentless buggers if they feel forced to attack. I feel like either she was rabid, felt cornered or was trying to protect her young. Bobcats are super skittish and usually won't attack anything bigger than a large rabbit. It's rare to even ever get to see one.
Wife just went to walk the dog as this guy decided to use our front lawn as a path. This is after we got her and the dog inside
Northern NJ right next to a county park. This was a big boy. When I first saw him after wifey came running inside he was only about 15 feet in front of the window but the dog was trying to jump through the storm door to get to it. Had to close the front door before I could start taking video. Not sure how to post video here so did a still
I realize your joking but crazy thing is these bears no exactly what they are looking for. My 70 pound dog was going ape shit and he didn’t even turn to look. Weds is usually garbage day in this part of town so he knows Tuesday night is when he can find the garbage cans out. Because of the holiday there is no garbage collection so he was heading into the back woods early because he couldn’t find any cans A couple times a year he comes through early morning and every single can is knocked over. Some he can get into and some are bear proof
For real though in the southeast bobcats are the size of a big Maine Coon. If this was the "what is the largest cat you could drop kick into the netherworld" thread I would vote a bobcat. I'm not fucking with any bear
I've fed nurse sharks a lot, never seen this occur. Hence why the boat operator (I'm assuming) didn't think anything of it. Maybe Australian nurse sharks are bigger assholes than Bahamian nurse sharks, not sure, but it's a pretty regular interaction from what i know.
Not really joking, I feed my foxes cat food I buy the cheap stuff at the dollar store They know me and I can get to about 20 feet from them. At one point I was debating trying to hand feed but got talked out of it I love to feed a bear and film it
A guy in India recently took a selfie of him feeding a bear. It didn’t turn out so good as he, himself, was the food.
O...you weren’t joking. I’m good. The only death by a black Bear in NJ over the last 30 years was by a kid, that while maybe not directly fucking it, decided taking pictures of it as it approached was a swell idea. I don’t need this 500 pound one comin around on the reg. https://nypost.com/2014/11/25/hiker-took-cell-phone-pictures-of-bear-before-deadly-attack/
Yea, I went diving in Belize last year and the area we dove was near where they do shark feedings. It’s all nurse sharks, but still... So we pull up and of course the sharks show up for food. I am a little shocked and immediately grabbed my camera. Spoiler So then I hear the boat captain say "Mr THF, you are certified so we put you in first while we help the rest..." I literally thought he was joking. Nope. They gear me up and i fall back into the water. Luckily nurse sharks aren't attracted to poo in the water, so I was good. I guess if they don't get food in the first few minutes, they head off to the next boat coming in. This was the view as I hit the water. Spoiler I felt like that movie "Open Water" where you are sitting in the ocean all alone... Spoilered for size.
SOUTH AMERICA (CBS Local) – Most of us have a healthy fear of wasps. Now most of us can also be thankful we don’t share a habitat with a newly discovered wasp species found in the Amazon that has a shockingly large stinger. Researchers from the University of Turku in Finland were surprised by the super-sized stinger found on Clistopyga crassicaudata, which was uncovered in a zone between the Andes mountains and the lowland rainforest area of the Amazon. The Clistopyga crassicaudata wasp flies softly and carries a big stinger. (Credit: Kari Kaunisto/CNET) “I have studied tropical parasitoid wasps for a long time but I have never seen anything like it,” Professor Ilari E. Sääksjärvi said in a news release. “The stinger looks like a fierce weapon.” “Parasitoid” wasp stingers have a dual purpose. Scientists say they use it to inject venom and for laying eggs into spiders or spider egg sacs. The venom paralyzes the spider allowing the female wasp to lay its eggs on its victim. The babies hatch as larvae and help themselves to the paralyzed arachnid. The researchers aren’t sure yet exactly which spider Clistopyga crassicaudata prefers to lay its eggs on, but hope to raise funding for further studies of the unusual insect and other parasitoid wasps in the Amazon.
It's still alive by the way. Relocated. https://www.yahoo.com/news/giant-600kg-crocodile-finally-caught-decade-long-hunt-101947576.html
Holy shit, just saw that the cub is just chilling inside the ass of that carcass. Or is it photoshopped?
