Or some GMs are trying to give a little run to their players they think aren’t getting enough national attention
What are the economics of G league? Do these teams actually generate revenue or does the league give them money to have the top prospects play vs men Watching something like this is only time I’d consider tuning in
I don’t think either g league or wnba are now or realistically expect to be profitable in the near future. That said I read that there are a handful of minor league baseball teams that are profitable so with the right marketing in the right sports starved city it could happen. https://www.forbes.com/sites/sergeiklebnikov/2016/07/08/minor-league-baseballs-most-valuable-teams/?
Would kind of liken it towards the soccer reserve system since many of the G teams are owned by the parent NBA team, which means it isn't profitable for the most part. But, I'm sure there's plenty of tax write-offs involved.
The top prospects coming in from the prep ranks can make up to $1M. The Ignite team, which brings these prospects together to develop before being eligible for the Draft, is indeed funded by the NBA. Not sure about the rest but I think it’s a fair assumption that the NBA also subsidizes it either directly or indirectly though the parent teams. https://frontofficesports.com/london-johnson-inks-biggest-contract-for-g-league-ignite/
I've read this in a bunch of places, and I'm sure that will happen after the all-star break because it always does, but going into the year the only team that looks like it's truly tanking is Utah. That's a lot lower than the number of teams that have been in that conversation over the last 5 years or so.
it's such a bummer that shaedon sharpe had a shoulder injury after 5 minutes of summer league action so we didn't get to see him in that type of setting he looks very overwhelmed in preseason action when playing with starters but he's flashed the athleticism and skill a bit towards the end of the games when it's just bench guys. i wish he had a chance to play those SL games when he'd be a focal point of the offense. the early highlights: Spoiler
With Kenny Lofton getting playing time for Memphis, the Grizzlies are going to be Tank contenders as well
As someone who watched most of Jordan Poole's college games and how annoying he was at that time, the most surprising thing about this alleged episode is that it took Draymond 3 years to hit him. I would have bet good money on that happening in year 1.
Does the best Holiday play for the hawks? Many such people are saying this. A man in Atlanta, just came up to me. A big strong man with Tears in his eyes, said “sir, the best Holiday plays for the hawks”
