Becoming the most popular sport in China was a great stroke of luck for the eventual finances of the NBA. Basketball is one of those rare things that was associated with the West and Christianity, yet was still wholly embraced by the people, and particularly the Communist Party, and was even entirely unaffected by the cultural revolution. Now the money machine just go brrrr.
I'm guessing Turner and Hield get dealt if anything close to that number is looking realistic in January, because them playing out of their minds and making themselves valuable in trades feels like one of the only ways that number is possible.
In retaliation, no less. Losers on Twitter trying to make any point for the sake of feeling like they’ve made one.
blazers are playing tonight in seattle but not broadcasting the game for some reason* *presumably the reason being to save money, despite the entire purpose of playing in seattle being about money supposedly the clippers are broadcasting it so i'll be looking for a stream
Tweet earlier was: 1 air ball, 2 missed FTs exact same dude on offense but who cares about pre season anyway
holy shit, Ballmer is doing the yelling thing pre-game for this game straight out of that microsoft video
I only watched a little bit but it seems like KCP fits in well already even though he didn't shoot particularly well.
KCP could fit in in anywhere. Dude is solid. I hope Nuggs can develop Peyton Watson, guy was all over the court on defense.
Nuggs have an interesting and fun squad this year. They have multiple versatile defenders for the first time in the Jokic era. Murray, KCP, Brown, Gordon, Jokic lineup is going to be quite good imo
https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nba...ngs-2022-23-starters/joqhveooxejnko7wey5v2nxy Ben Simmons is a shooting guard?
I know there's only so many rookies so Chet has to make the "best rookies in 5 years list" somewhere...but you could sooner convince me that Chet will be on his 2nd or 3rd team and largely irrelevant than being the 2nd best rookie in this class, 5 years from now.
This take is so far behind my "Russ isn't a PG" and "Norrio Colemers", I relish being wrong about it. I'll always have insisting Russ could average a triple double, before he actually did it, though.
My favorite part of the GM survey every year is the "also receiving votes" and low percentage getters. You can really tell that some GMs are really reactionary/grinding an axe/just dumb. Notable results this year: Anthony Davis got a vote for most likely to have a breakout season (I mean it's possible but this one is clearly just Rob Pelinka). Steph Curry received the third most votes for the best shooting guard in the NBA (He plays point guard guys stop it). Most underrated player acquisition: Nets not trading stars (this one isn't even responsive to the question). Andre Drummond to Chicago received a vote for the most surprising move of the offseason. (This GM was apparently not at all surprised by the Gobert, Mitchell, or Murray trades). Kenneth Lofton Jr, who was not drafted, received a vote for biggest steal of the draft. Andrew Wiggins got a vote as the best defensive player in the NBA. Luka Doncic got a vote for being the best at moving without the ball (just kind of a head scratcher for someone with the ball in his hands so much). Steph Curry got a vote for the best passer in the NBA.
I don't know if this is considered a hot take ITT or not, but Andrew Wiggins is now the most overrated player in the NBA.
Those are clearly troll votes since Wiggins isnt the best defender and Curry isn't the best passer on their own team
meh...as far as the Steph stuff goes. It seems to me that the GMs were split on Steph and Luka so they'd stick one at point and one at SG
Did not consider this but it's the most likely explanation for several, including Luka moving without the ball and the out of left field Drummond one
I was going to make a joke about what we just paid Herro but Wiggins is basically the same, money-wise…and if he puts together another good season, someone will throw max money at him next summer if GS doesn’t lock him up during the season.
