I'm begging you sir, stop watching The Town Joe Mazzulla: “People are gonna say the targets on our back but I hope it’s right on our forehead between our eyes. I hope I can see the red dot”
I'm quite certain there was plenty of "Luka got in shape" talk before last season and then he still played all year as a doughboy.
I mean yeah they lost Brown and KcP in back to back years, plus Malone is a red ass anyway. Of course he’s gonna be bitching to anyone who will listen
They literally could not match the offer Brown signed, they didn't have full Bird rights on him. KCP they did let go. Very cheap ownership.
And the answer to losing them from the FO has seemingly been to play young guys drafted in the 20s and 30s, which blew up in their faces last year.
KCP was kinda shit in the playoffs last year and signing him would have put Denver over the second apron which has consequences beyond the ownership's bottom line. You can argue those consequences are worth it and they should have re-signed KCP anyway but that's different than saying ownership wouldn't pay to keep him which I am 99% sure is not the case
It might have been Sam Vecinie who said that the Nuggets FO is trying to force Malone to play young guys by not resigning the vets.
That was supposed to happen last year too but Malone has Kings PTSD so he coaches every game like his job is on the line. I think Malone is a great coach. One of the best 5-10 in the league probably pretty easily. But he also has some annoying warts mostly related to his stubbornness
In fairness to Malone, no coach in his situation is excited to play rookies drafted outside of the top 20 when you're a contender. And the FO thinking that's a good idea seems like a sign of arrogance more than anything else.
basically a draft video that the Blazers put out about the process of picking Clingan that showed that they had him at 1.1
always good to hear a team was able to draft the guy at the top of their board despite not having the first pick!
Most late 30s guys are journeymen (except lebron) but horford 17 seasons in, only played for 4 teams hawks, celts, 6ers, thunder thats wild
Keeping in mind that it’s the basketball HoF and not the NBA HoF, does Horford belong? Middling NBA stats aside, he has 2 college NCs, the first Dominican to win a title, he’s the second best Latin American player ever, and medals for his country(non-Olympic).
I'm going to say no, but I wouldn't be mad if he got in. 5x All-Star and ranks 63rd all-time in Win Shares, but only 1 All-NBA (third team). The international/college stuff is nice, but wouldn't push him over the edge for me. But I don't vote on such things so my thoughts are irrelevant.
I think his biggest narrative hurdle right now is Billups not being in. Standalone, they’re completely different resumes but as long as Chauncey is out, I think that’s a barometer for saying Al shouldn’t make it.
I thought Corey Brewer was going to be the best pro out of that Florida team and Horford was the 3rd best guy. Me brain no good
I always thought Noah was too raw and would always have a problem scoring in the nba. Horford already had a decent jumper and he was one of the better passing bigs coming out of college I’d seen. Definitely thought Brewer had a better career ahead of him tho
Hawks did not want to give him another contract in 2015 bc they were worried about his age and he played timelessly for the next 9 years , and we brought in Dwight Howard instead
