I don't know what to believe anymore. I've heard there's a disconnect between Portland and the rest of the league in what Portland believes their assets are worth and how their value is perceived around the league I've heard that is bullshit from non-Portland sources that while his value isn't what it was earlier in his career, he's still worthy of a Godfather level return. maybe not a Gobert level return because lol MInnesota but.. to some, the trade offer you listed would be deemed borderline offensive I think the truth is probably somewhere in the middle. I will say, this offseason has had the most "Trade Dame" dialogue I've ever seen within our own fanbase.
I don't think you're getting that building block young player from anyone in a Lillard trade. The premise of my post is that I don't believe that trade exists any more.
I'd draft as many rookies as possible as soon as possible and roll the dice. If you're giving up Dame, you're giving up for the forseeable future and just opening loot boxes. Need as many as possible.
I could be totally off base here but I feel like with the changes to the CBA teams are going to value keeping their draft picks a lot more than before
just a matter of perspective do you take the shot gun approach with women and make yourself available to all of them and play the odds you find a keeper or are you more selective in your approach I'm not saying either way is wrong just a different perspective and yes that's a janky comparison, I know but ...different approaches for different folks
i understand the logic but personally disagree with it (re: maximizing your lottery tickets in a single year, not restarting post-dame). i think rookies need a proper structure/team environment to really reach their potential development-wise and you run the risk of mudding that development if you conduct a complete tear-down and it's just an unstructured free-for-all. like houston the last two years.
you should've seen me last night when I discovered I was completely wrong about Jody Allen having X amount of time to sell the team. It's 10 years and even then it will be most likely be drawn out because every year she doesn't sell the franchise it's value gets higher and with the new looming TV deal they haven't entertained the topic of selling yet. Combine that with the Vulcans playing Fantasy-owner because Jody doesn't give a shit about the team...its a line in a ledger to her, THE END , I was all last night
We could talk about how my beautiful boy Poku broke his arm working out and it's going to further delay his eventual league takeover
He was looking like an actual player before he got hurt. Looking forward to the OKC Thin Towers lineup next season
Sorry. I'll make sure to consult with you on acceptable conversation topics the next time I bump the thread with basketball content on a Finals off day.
I know it had to be rough being a Thunder fan the last couple years. I am legit jealous of the stability of your franchise, they have a gameplan, they have great tradeable assets and a really special young and dynamic backcourt that casuals are totally sleeping on in SGA and Giddey. So many pieces on your roster I covet...
First things first, Dame doesn't have a no-trade clause. So PDX could be assholes and send him wherever the fuck they want. Obviously they would never do that to Dame. but yeah Dame ain't going to Orlando unless it was a ridiculous return that say...involved Banchero or Franz or both.. fantasy stuff essentially two possible destinations I keep hearing is NYK and Chicago, no idea what a proposed return would look like but ALLEGEDLY both teams strongly believe Dame could get them over the top and win a ring. Chicago allegedly has some interest in the #3 pick especially if Scoot is available so there's a possibility but I'm thinking Portland will try to pair the #3 pick with Simons to try and get an perceived upgrade at the off ball guard spot and run it back with Dame for another season
The trade will also be denied by the Florida GOP, there’s no way they will let their black friend be traded to a liberal cesspool like Portland.
Guys like Cuban and Lacob would definitely welcome a Saudi Billionaire quicker than say the Mara Family or Arthur Blank
Low startup cost? It would cost a lot to lure players away from the NBA, not only would they have to pay more than the NBA but they would also have to compensate for any potential loss endorsements.
i think a good portion of the hard cap changes with the new cba are efforts to keep that sort of unlimited oil money away from the league
Dame to NYK Is a legit possibility and I would assume Barrett, picks, and maybe a piece or two for salary matching would be involved The #3 and Simons is a possibility but that is more of a Chicago scenario because they apparently like Scoot a lot and if hey they can get Simons who is redundant here…it makes sense
Dame to NYK made sense before Jalen Brunson was signed and became the team’s best player, now it doesn’t make sense to trade away assets and pay 2x the salary for Dame.
It honestly hasn't ever been bad. Even at our lowest point you could look at SGA and Dort and see how you could build a good team around them, and the war chest of picks was always sitting there. God knows there's plenty of more hopeless situations than that.
Just that a feisty reaction to that type of post may not be exclusively the result of that one particular post. Won't speak for MG2 on that front
Shaq playing 45 minutes and scoring 34 points on 16 fga is hilarious. He must've shot like 25 free throws
