I'm sure Leon Rose will talk about the decision whenever he decides to hold his first press conference
Holy shit. My son is home sick and he has 1st take on. My eyes and ears are bleeding. screaming about Jaylen brown contract.
every now and then I'll walk into the staff or physician lounge and it will be on w. the volume muted. every time I see it, it always seems like some serious serious business being discussed but deep down I know they're probably debating something stupid like "Were the Lakers disrespecting D. Russell by benching him in a close out game when Kyrie was there sitting front row?"
If i see one more tweet reusing the heat nuggets like el oh el heat chicken nuggets joke again I’ll do absolutely nothing but will be annoyed
I don't really understand why kids still do the G League Ignite thing, unless NIL money in college for basketball isn't close to what I'm thinking it could be for top players. Seems like it hasn't really helped anyone who has gone through it.
It's hard to tell who it might have hurt because we don't know what would have happened if they had gone to CBB instead. But Jaden Hardy was considered at least a mid-lottery guy out of HS and he went 2nd round. I think you could argue it hurt Kuminga, but probably not that much. It didn't hurt Green or Scoot in terms of draft stock, so you're obviously right about that level of guy. I like that they're actually in the G League now instead of what they originally set it up as. I'm just surprised that kids would still prefer that route when they can make money legitimately in college now while also playing in front of millions of people and in big games people actually attend and care about.
There's no cap on your practice time, all you're doing is basketball. And the level of play is significantly higher. Those would be pretty compelling things to me if I was trying to make it as a professional basketball player.
Scoot looks like the real deal but I'm not sure if that's Ignite development related or he's just that dude
there's a part of me, that is growing daily, that really wants Portland to keep the #3 pick and draft Scoot. The odds of us finding a real sexy trade that checks all my boxes is slim to fucking none. The other trade suggestions out there...especially ones that involve unloading Nurk are like a wet dream but they make too much fucking sense for them to actually happen.
NBA employee , live in Vegas, no homework, 6 fig salary, no mickey mouse university politics to deal w, legal weed. Biggest thing would be missing out on all the rural blonde pawgs
It’s the hornet way. Drafting for fit with that team is the dumbest possible outcome so Miller will be the pick and Scott will be an all NBA player within 3 years. Worst ran franchise in the sport.
Just getting into a bunch of the post-ECF Cs coverage. "This summer, Boston can offer Brown -- after he made his second All-Star team and first All-NBA appearance -- the richest deal in NBA history: a five-year, $295 million contract extension." No idea how to rationalize that if you're Boston...but the alternative is letting him walk next season or finding someone that thinks they can resign him during the season. And then they have to turn around and make the exact same decision for Tatum the following year(who still has his flaws, for sure, but you absolutely have to supermax him). Will be interested to see if either/both take less than max because them being paid like prime Steph/Klay, while not actually playing like those guys, makes team building pretty fucking difficult.
Really don't know how you build a team around two guys making that much money. Especially when they are good but maybe not great.
Are NBA contracts able to be restructured constantly to make the cap work? Mahomes contract is always changing to make it work for the Chefs. Can Celts do something similar? edit: i checked CBAfaq.com and i dont understand any of these words
I think NBA signing/contract rules are probably the most difficult in major sports but there's a chance I'm underselling baseball because I don't keep up with it much
gotta think the owners would like a do over on that post cap spike cba that now makes them pay one time all-nba guys $60 million a year
we have any owners on the verge of selling and/or dying? Hornets are on the block but any other franchises?
I do think Jaylen would be exponentially better playing alongside a distributor that isn’t Marcus Smart. I mean Al Horford might be the second best passer on that team. in the finals last year and this year against Miami, they just didn’t have anyone that could run a high pick and roll and get someone an easy bucket.
Players can’t sign NIL deals with shoe companies if they go the NCAA route, so a top player can potentially earn more going the G-League route.
Idk how much it’s quantified but I still think the exposure of being a star at a power program like a Zion is worth more in the long term than what you might make short term in the G League. But granted that probably applies to only 2 or 3 prospects a year at most
Schools have apparel deals. Individual player deals in that market would cause lots of financial/contractual issues that the schools/NCAA don’t want to deal with.
Portland Due to the stipulations of Paul Allen's will, the Portland TrailBlazers are to be sold along with most of his assets with the proceeds going to Paul's various passion projects upon his death. I think they were given 18 months to do this. Obviously his sister is dragging her feet and long time family friend and business partner Bill Hilf (guy who runs Vulcan for them) has been running the team. Another problem is this guy has always coveted "running the team his way" and isn't in any hurry to relinquish control. Phil Knight has made it no secret that he wants to purchase the team and has been trying to force the issue in the past by leaking shit to the NY Post .
