It’s fun to pretend with recency bias everything that just happened is the craziest thing ever but a lazy fat guy who plays no defense whose teammates dont like and isn’t as good as anthony Davis getting traded isn’t crazy but he’s white so the russilos of the world will freak the fuck out.
You lost me with he's not as good as Anthony Davis, agree with everything else in your description of Luka. The fact he's this good while being fat and lazy is what makes him so scary.
Or he flat out today them he wasn’t going to resign and they chose to overreact and trade him at the worst possible time, with no effort to find other suitors.
I can read the subtext here. Where does this rank in comparison to Giannis signing his extension and Lillard getting traded to Milwaukee for terrible days in recent Miami Heat history
He was under contract next season so unless he's going back to Europe, don't think you're right there
Thread: Dallas definitely won the trade Immediate logic: competing suitors would drive the price for Luka up
Told my six year old who is obsessed with basketball about the trade this morning. He immediately ran downstairs and turns on 2k25 to see if they are on their new teams. They weren’t showing up yet so he said “they must be in the locker room getting their new jerseys still” About 30 minutes later he runs upstairs screaming “DAD LUKA IS ON THE LAKERS!!”
I'm listening and Bill just put Tatum in a tier with Jokic, Giannis, Luka and SGA above everyone else. The pod is now ruined for me.
I can kind of see the argument for that based on age, durability and skill level. I think it's at least a conversation. But he yelled at everyone last year in the playoffs for being too critical of Tatum for expecting him to play better because they were expecting too much from someone who wasn't on that tier. And now he's just in that tier and we're just supposed to accept it.
I actually can see them keeping it under wraps because if it got out it would have caused a bidding war + fan pushback that would have killed their chances of getting Luka.
So many weird things about this trade, but the one that is currently hitting me is that Davis is a top 5-8 player in the league right now and people are talking about him like he's Pascal Siakam because trading Luka at 25 makes that little sense under any scenario. Also, I don't understand why he waived his trade kicker for the Mavs. What's in that for him?
even if you buy that the mavs were worried about the contract and luka's health, it makes no sense why they didn't get the lakers' swaps and '31 1st (never mind reaves and knecht). it's non-sensical.
It makes no sense they didn’t leak to Windy or Stein or someone that they were going to auction off Luka. Mikal Bridges got like 5 1s. San Antonio got more for Dejounte Murray
