i know you're joking this is just as likely as the people who think BTC will protect their wealth from a societal collapse
You guys are both wrong. In a full collapse of society im going to need my 92 Shaq upper deck redemption rookie card to survive
*roving bandits searching for water run up on my house* *i pass them my Ken Griffey Jr Upper Deck rookie card* *they let me live*
One thing to consider when collecting is that all series one earliest game moments can be considered rookies in Top Shot. Going back to cardboard, 86/87 Fleer was the first basketball set since Topps in 1981. All the HOFs that had their first card in Fleet that year were rookies. I know there was a limited run small company that made cards (Star) but few count those given the lack of quality and releases. I don’t think many people on the Top Shot market have really figured that out.
While you suckers are eeking out crumbs with your baseball cards, I’ll be ruling the nuclear wasteland with my Tickle-me-Elmo.
I've been on this site for a grand total of 3 hours and it's amazing how much the prices have gone up already
I was introduced to this by my UG business school students a few weeks ago. They're all in on it. In fact, the company is the focus of their semester long group project, so I should get some good insight from the target market.
It’s really amazing. I’ve never seen anything like it. I’ve went to bed with the market down and the next morning, something will be up 50% that I wanted to buy. I’m talking about in the multiple $1,000s highlights not just the commons.
Last week they fluctuated. The last two days are insane. If i did not get in on this 3 weeks ago or whatever when I thought this was a stupid as 90% of the posters in the thread, I would be priced out today. We will see what happens. But this isnt about a retirement portfolio. This is about a hot tub fund damnit.
My account value went down 100. Since this bubble has clearly popped please just gift me all your moments. They’re worthless anyway some smart people told me
So you have a print, or a counterfeit copy. btw this is dumb as shit but that isn’t really a gotcha, that’s the whole point of blockchain being involved in this
I wonder how much of a cut Dapper will give the retired NBA players of their moments sold. If they put these on the auction market like they are planning to do with the Platinum Ice (/3), then I don’t think it will be too hard to sign up a Dominique or Hakeem for a 25% cut of initial sale and then a % of future transactions.
Yes, but they will have to agree individually to this from how I understand the rights and their time in the NBPA. NBA will still get their cut but they aren’t going to piss any retired players off by including them without their permission.
They’re negotiating this right now. They do have the run it back set (which has an actual Giannis rookie in it $10000 before the surge and I don’t want to look now)
I’ll sell whatever I have in moments to get a Dominique moment. They can just print money if they do a 1988 Slam Dunk Contest set with Jordan as the reward.
I gotta admit if they start doing shit like this I’d start getting real mad and broke after missed drops. After the last miss drop I accidentally spent dozens and ended up a thousandaire I don’t know what I’ll do with my retirement
Is that good news for the accidental duplicate purchase of series 2 Donovan Mitchells I bought today?
It happens sometimes. A price point is a price point. I’m simultaneously mad they jumped and happy they jumped.
I bought a Joel Embiid series 2 about 6 hours ago for $61 that's lowest price is now $105 Once kids start stealing their sleeping dad's credit cards there's gonna be money to be made on this
The clowns behind this TopShot shit are probably the ones buying up your 'commons' for bloated prices. By artificially creating the FOMO they drive demand for the 'cards'/packs. Making it cumbersome to ever cash out keeps you coming back and playing the game. They'll end up with your money in the end and they know it. This stuff has been around for awhile and nobody cared, all this hype out of nowhere isn't suspicious at all.
God damnit I should have bought so much more. I thought Series 2 CCs were for suckers, I was so wrong.
Friend of mine told me about this weeks ago and I just never really looked into it. Annoyed at myself. Seems fun at the very least. Same friend gifted me a common card when I signed up today that's now listed at $50 minimum price on the marketplace so it's not all bad
The sales are all on the block chain so it’s actually a more transparent market. Plus, you’re just wrong.
