Heard Caleb Williams signed with USC this morning We’ve felt good about Dart but apparently there is some issue with one of Triggs classes. He’s the one that got us in the door with Dart.
We would’ve preferred to keep him to see what he had but he was also 5th string behind the likes of a 5’9” 160 lb scat back and a guy who was a backup RB in high school.
You just enroll but you could technically have a grant in aid signed, but you can sign multiple of those.
Are the days of “we’ll ‘release’ you to anywhere except x rival schools” over? Can they block kids from transferring to certain schools
Only thing a school can do is claim tampering which is happening at every school. State did it to us last year with two defensive players that wound up at FSU.
Literally the only reason CW isn't already at USC is trying to avoid tampering, though we all know it happened, but whatever.
If you don't think there were conversations before he went into the portal... yikes **EDIT: Let me rephrase. I do not think USC did any tampering at all, and is probably the one telling everyone to take their time, take visits, etc, which they should. I 100% believe LR had conversations with CW before he entered the portal, and there's some speculation that it was even done using his OU phone, there's evidence, he's a state employee blah blah blah. I also 100% believe everyone is doing it (tampering), so this is not a unique situation.
Yeah you can transfer anywhere. Love the takes from Josh Pate types that kids being able to attend and play for whatever college they want, needs to be reeled in.
If you think that's any different than other recruits going into the portal...yikes. At the end of the day he had his choice between staying and leaving and he made it. Sooner fans are just living up to the stereotype of still being obsessed with Riley by bringing up tampering
No issues at all with the decision, and I'll be rooting for the kid no matter where he goes. You say "still" like this happened 2 seasons ago. At least I got a good laugh at that part.
Just thought it was weird to throw out the tampering thing and then say it's whatever, and then continue talking about how it supposedly happened, and then say it happens everywhere. Not sure when the cutoff point is for acceptable obsession with your old coach, "but whatever."
Here is how you legally tamper. HC at school ABC calls HS coach/Handler/whatever of player X who is enrolled at school XYZ. HC-"Hey HS coach. We could really use someone like player X. If he ends up in the portal, he'd have a guaranteed starting spot at ABC. We even got 300k in NIL money lined up for him." HS Coach to player X- "Here's the offer from ABC if you want to leave XYZ. Player X enters the portal and 24 hours later announces he is heading to ABC. This shit isn't complicated.
Or the HC at Oklahoma accepts the job at USC and tells Player X, “Hey I got the job at USC, come with me.” And then Player X enters the portal.
The athletic did a big article last week on the portal in basketball. The tampering there is a little more clear. Guys are promising spots to kids that aren't even in the portal yet and have months left on current season.
How do we know that Caleb hasn’t enrolled at a school because he’s going to be announced as a USFL signing?
Coaches have been doing illegal shit they could be caught doing for a long time because they’re narcissistic shitheads and because it pays off
