IIRC PSU was pretty heavily in his recruitment. Seemed like he had a bunch of good offers and then faded and ended up at Nebraska.
Alfano just refused to show up for anything. Meet new coaches? Naw Lift weights? Naw Zoom meetings? Naw Fare thee well good sir, may you eventually figure out life.
Didn’t he hit the camp circuit and barely break a 5.0 40 in testing? The word locally even super early on was that he didn’t have the speed to make it at CB from the plugged in guys on CIS and to not sweat it when he was going to commit to Ohio St his jr yr
yeah think it was a 4.8 but all the local guys said no way is he a CB but the Clemson and Ohio state hype I think is what got him his early ranking upon further review they both passed
He initially seemed to give a fuck but he was already getting in trouble before Tucker left. Everybody tried to help him, he just can't get out of his own way.
Depsite all the ties our staff and roster had to New Jersey back then, um did not recruit him because he was a such a shit head.
Apparently doesn't gel with a lot of people. Media frequently mentions how he's a bit of a loner. One of his only friends on the team, Jaevon McQuitty, transferred a couple months ago. Sucks though because he's tough and a good player.
There’s also a rumor he tried to setup a boycott of practice last season when they tried to have a rough week of practice out in the cold mid-season. One of those rumors that sounds crazy, but enough of my friends have heard about it I almost believe it considering some of them don’t frequent message boards or anything.
It’s been a long time coming. Staff seemed to be operating under the assumption he wouldn’t be around since last season ended. It sucks
The overall turnover since he got to Nebraska is insane. Who knows how it will pan out. At the very least, he is running out of other people to blame.
Huskers, I played golf with Tyrone Byrd (safety from 89-93) last week. Told some cool stories, one about picking off Charlie Ward in the ‘92 bowl game. Asked him how he feels about Frost; he told me a story about how he needs the coaches to make sure they’re spending the time in the film room and all that. Apparently one day, Frost wasn’t there and the coaches had no clue where he went. Supposedly he got a last minute invite to play Augusta National, which he went through with. Who knows if it’s true, but I figured I’d tell y’all.
That number includes walk-ons who decided to transfer to the schools they probably should have taken scholarships from in the first place. D2,FCS, etc.
Spielman is going to have to get the waiver of all waivers to ever play football again. Not only does he not have a redshirt left, he hasn't been going to class. So not only is he not a grad transfer, hes not technically eligible. If anyone's admissions and lawyers can get him on the field next year I will give major kudos.
We went through this last year. I don't think it was 14 but we were at 10+. Had some people freaking out over the number of players leaving but, as expected, ended up just being churning dead weight.
Not really, we all accepted he would get a waiver to Minnesota back in January. Im not even sure he wants to keep playing football, hes a weird kid. But if he does its going to take some major lawyering.
Haven’t heard specifics but there’s definitely some out there that hint he spends a little too much time golfing. Definitely a huge difference in if it’s something to recharge randomly throughout the season, or a situation like you posted above. Honestly, wouldn’t shock me though since he’s basically untouchable in the program right now.
I mean, this was VT as well but again, completely dead weight. I mean, those kids did fuckall in 2019, I think I had a post somewhere and it was hilarious how little they cumulatively accounted for on the field for their new teams after everyone ran around acting like the world was ending because we lost a dumbass DE to Miami, a couple bad attitude WRs, and a god awful QB to Maryland, the same guys who lost to ODU and tanked the season for the first sub-.500 season in almost 30 years in Blacksburg. Fuente's still a shit coach but every school is going to see this stuff happen now and then where a bunch of kids just bolt all at once, especially old holdovers under a new staff. It's so easy to transfer these days everyone will experience this stuff eventually.
