Yeah, the role of NIL agent is going to attract a large number of horrible people, and you generally are never going to successfully shame horrible people into not being horrible.
thinking about the cornucopia of soulless people with no morals or ethics who circle NFL players like vultures trying to get a piece of the financial carcass before it is stripped bare, what is happening in college should surprise nobody. we're probably going to hear some horror stories in the near future about kids getting duped with bad investments into things like crypto and real estate (especially crypto) and losing everything or even worse, their parents getting duped and losing their kid's money.
I totally won that $1.22 billlion Mega Millions jackpot, waiting till after next Monday to offer Jeremiah Smith a commission based "job" in Gainesville catching passes based on healthy fees.
what's already happening is these agents are hitting up programs without players even knowing.....which can be bad news if you're not a star player and your current coaches find out It cost Rodney Hill his spot at FSU (on a 2-10 team lol) Kid literally had no clue what had happened
I think the Rosenhaus group has started to get active in the space, which is probably a big benefit for players- they can steamroll the shit pigs
I’m sure the stars have legit representation, but I have seen 3rd stringers and walk ons referencing agents. They used to be called street agents.
Rosenhaus was Carter’s agent this season. They were all in his ear pushing for him to not play any playoff games at all pre-injury
Rosenhaus and other pro sports agents are obviously gonna think long term for their clients which means the school is gonna hate it, and they arent steamrolling anybody for the ham and eggers on each roster, those are the kids that are going to be vulnerable to the shit pigs (big fan of this term lol)
Guys are already opting out of whole seasons (Smith-Njigba, Will Johnson this year, etc). There will be more and there will be more “injuries” late in the year that guys just don’t come back from until the combine. It’s only like the very upper echelon 10 guys or so a year and even then it’s also personality/mindset dependent for each guy but I definitely see that happening
JSN had doctors say he wasn't healthy enough and only played in 3 games that year due to injuries . Will Johnson didn't play from game 5 on due to turf toe and didn't been play on a CFP team, bowl games are pointless We aren't going to see healthy guys sit out meaningful games
JSN tried to play twice after the initial injury. He missed a game, then played and aggravated it. He took five weeks, played again, re-aggravated it again. It was late October for the second one, and he didn’t play again. Nick Bosa is a better example. Got hurt, quit the team, started prepping for the draft.
https://www.on3.com/db/cam-miller-146990/ The corner that fell down 4Q of the semi is headed to the portal. He’s not a bad player, bit slow for a corner but would be a decent pickup for someone. Has had some rough games but not all that bad.
Lmao at thinking Rosenhaus is an improvement. Dude gives less than zero fucks about anything other than his bottom line.
if they are citing Manny Navarro as a source I would take that with a huge grain of salt. That dude has no sources around UM
he was at 1.5 base from Georgia, and when yall were skeptical of us saying Miami was going to portal him a month ago the rumor was doubling that #. Fwiw. Really doesnt matter. Not our money. He is the best QB option for Miami except maybe argument for Mensah/Mateer.
Mateer was the cam Ward level swing. Mensa was the riskier play with more years of eligibility. By all accounts Miami was all in on mateer and just couldn’t close. Duke was smart to make mensah their #1 priority and close him before bigger schools like Miami were ready to move on to him. Completely agree that once those options fell through, beck was the best option left. I’m much happier with this play than the other gamble of Maiava from USC
its prob is $3M and I'm even good with it being $4 since Miami desperately needed him at this point and its good to see Miami still can throw money around. I just think you're better off using rumors on Twitter as a source as opposed using Manny since that's where he gets his info from.
Manny is an old school beat writer. He covers the team and goes home. He makes no effort to be a news breaker/insider.
Not trying to be a dick, but why do you care if its 3M vs 4M? It's not your money and there's no salary cap rules you need to abide by. But if it is your money, can I have some?
The money argument only matters if it detracts from getting other players.* If a booster panic donates to cover the balance, it's no big deal. *Unless you have a bunch of dudes on the team that see that number and decide they're underpaid. We had a bit of that and it's not great.
Article head getting close to 10 mil but https://frontofficesports.com/carso...tm_medium=referral&utm_source=later-linkinbio
I think that’s the big concern with recruiting. How you gonna bring in an unknown for 2million, when the 2 year starter is only at 1? idk if that happens, but it’s what i worried would happen.
He may be the best QB option for us as well although we seemed to be out of the Carson Beck business for whatever reason
I thought Beck was going to be great this year. Didn't watch enough Georgia games to get a feel for what the hell happened.
There's no structured salary cap with this stuff. The market's going to fluctuate. It's no surprise that the same dip in the QB market with regard to the draft can have a similar impact on the transfer market. Value is relative and will obviously fluctuate. So I'd take Beck having 2x the value of Ward last year with a grain of salt. It's not a Ward vs. Beck comparison. It's a 24 vs. 25 comparison. Relative to recent drafts, Ward isn't the NFL prospect we've seen as of late. But If I were running Miami's offense, I'd still rather have him than Beck, regardless of price tag. The media and fans will overblow the relevance of the difference in pricetag. Still, in this year's market, he's a good pick up for them.
