Bottom line, if you liked this show, you'll like ytw. Watch both. Be happy (or sad, depending on the episode).
Just watched it today after initially struggling with ep 1 weeks ago. Jacobs smashes this. I was never a community guy, so I've never paid her much mind, but she's really great here. I do badly want her to get her shit together because I'm fatigued from watching Amanda Peet's Tina in Togetherness. I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned Master of None yet.
As much as I like the show, the plot of season 1 could have ended the show right there. I am happy about a season two, but no way a relationship between these two mismatched people should go much further than next season.
One of my fav overall things about the show is the way the character of Mickey is written. It seemed to be a very authentic look at the life of an alcoholic/addict/crazy chick based on my experience
"Love" this show. Binged it this week and thought it was great. Oh and if I could build a woman in a lab, I'd build Briga Heelan. She is unfuckingreal hot.
I flew through this when it was released. Really enjoyable. The "I hate the troops" line while they are tanking the date still cracks me up.
Now that I finished You're the Worst, I can comment on the comparisons to Love. Frankly, outside of them both being really good romantic comedies featuring a screwed up girl, I don't see the reason to compare them, and I don't think Love is derivative at all. The tone is different. The characters and supporting characters are different. The comedy is different. Love is much drier and subtle and YTW is more in your face. Bottom line I don't see the reason to compare them. Both excellent shows.
On episode 8 now, but I cracked up when her dad shows up Spoiler I immediately thought about the conversation Gus had at the bar about friends and die hard. Not sure if it it was intentional, but I laughed when Marv from home alone shows up and nobody recognizes him as Marv (since they talked about home alone at some point in the show).
Gus farting right after saying bye to Micky killed me. thats real life right there and it somehow never makes it on tv/movies.
Thought S2 seemed a good bit weaker than S1. It had some enjoyable moments but some of the writing felt really lazy/subpar
He wouldn't stop talking about how he's been Toby McGuire's stuntman in everything he's ever been in except for the Spiderman movies
It is with a heavy heart that I must report that I've soured on this show. Just too many contrivances and Apatowian bullshit
Definitely did not enjoy season two as much. It just wasn't that funny and it was so dark and uncomfortable way too often. I'm not saying it wasn't good. Just hard to get enjoyment from it.
late to the party, but big fan of Love so glad Randy got a bigger role in season 2 If you're a fan of the people in this show listen to the Doughboys podcast. The actor that plays Randy, Mike Mitchell, is one of the hosts. Episode 39 has Paul Rust and that's one of the best episodes. The actress that plays Bertie is in an episode too and it's pretty great.
if anyone wants more of that eye candy Briga Heelan, she is in the new Tina Fey comedy on NBC called "Great News"
She was pretty good in Ground Floor. She wore a lot of clothes that showed off her curves really week
Just finished up season 2 last night and I agree with the general consensus here. It wasn't bad but definitely didn't live up to expectations
