definitely on my list kinda at the mercy of my pregnant gf as far as where we eat for now because she’s a monster at this stage
the landlords are building a patio type situation and it makes me want to take up smoking again but then i remember the prices. sigh.
Luckily I don't relay on the L that much but it seems like the CTA is fucked. If I was running for mayor, I'd promise to fix the L and enjoy the easy victory.
Well, that's another discussion. Promising to fix it =/= having a plan. "I will fix the CTA. People will say, "Wow, the CTA is the best mass transit system in the US." A lot of people think my plan is the best. The very best transit people think my plan is the best" And we have a new mayor.
I miss it. Their burger and drive thru prowess in the burbs is underrated. But when I come to town it isn’t on the list to make sure I hit.
Here's the full quote “The practical reality is we’re a car city and people have to drive to get to work, to get to school, to get to church, go to the groceries, and we’ve got figure out a way that we can do our part to really provide some relief.”
Maybe but she should still get grilled for it. I honestly don't know anyone who likes her. She's the one thing that brings my Democrat and Republican coworkers together.
It's a throwaway comment but it legitimately made me feel hopeless for futureproofing the city with her in charge. At least five friends sent me the quote when it happened I can't believe she said it
I really dont think there's a single person that can fix chicago's issues. The ward system neuter's any mayor's authority. The CPD makes every mayor their bitch. You either lean into their bullshit or mildly criticize them and they hold doing their jobs hostage over the city w the blue flu bullshit. I dont really begrudge Lori on any of those issues, because no one can really do much. However, she is just a fucking asshole, all the time. She takes the slightest questioning of anything as a personal insult and immediately goes for the throat. That's why she cant anything good she's trying to do to move forward.
You’re not likely to find good Mexican where you live but if you go to Pilsen or Logan Square you can find some truly great food. It’s just not nearly as ubiquitous as it is in Texas. Also have you been to green street meats in the west loop? It’s hogsalts bbq restaurant in the west loop and I’m curious how you think it compares to Texas. It’s the best bbq I’ve ever had but I’ve only had bbq south of the mason Dixon line 3 times (a shithole in Nashville, Rodney Scott’s in Charleston, and pinkertons in Dallas)
Coming to the fine city of Chicago September something for the Kevin Hart show. Hoping the Bears have a home game that weekend or otherwise we’re leaving a day early.
I’ve been to a couple of good spots in pilsen for Mexican food. Just not used to actively having to search out good Mexican or bbq places. I haven’t, I’ll check it out sometime. I’m sure it’s great. I’m just spoiled because I had some of the best rated bbq places in the country a few blocks from my old place
Chicago Had 1 Day Of Sunshine In The Past 42 Days https://blockclubchicago.org/2022/05/03/chicago-had-1-day-of-sunshine-in-the-past-42-days/
https://cwbchicago.com/2022/05/man-...four-others-in-lincoln-park-and-lakeview.html Pretty bullshit carjacking is not considered a punishable crime if I’m reading the last paragraph correctly. It would be nice if the city could get its shit together.
Man waited too long to book a steak dinner, but able to get in to swift and sons. Still a good option Truman ?
Taking my 3 year old to Chicago next week- excited to get him on a train and see Maggie Dailey park also excited for Chicago Cut and La Scarola at 5pm should be a different vibe
Thanks Any regional fast food places worth checking out, you know like whataburger, in n out, cookout etc for a quick bite after a long day of flying?
There’s a little known chain headquartered in the Chicago area. It’s called McDonalds. Where are you staying? Portillo is is probably want you’re looking for, but there aren’t a ton of locations like those other places you listed.
Bernie’s at Erie and Orleans has a real solid burger. They have a nice rooftop with an outdoor bar, so overall pretty good spot to hang at and smash a burger if you’re can get seated on the rooftop. Definitely more upscale, but notable in terms of River North burgers. In terms of steak places in the area, Gibson’s Italia is my #1 recommendation if you can get in on this short of notice. It’s a pretty large spot with multiple floors, so walking in is probably an option too.
