Planning to go to the Bears vs. Rams game on 12/9. Should I go ahead and grab tickets off of stubhub or wait until closer to the game?
this is more of a general stubhub question, but in my experience you're always better waiting until 2-7 days before the game.
The answer to this question is like playing the stock market. If you think the Bears will be in the playoff hunt, tickets will be expensive. It's a small stadium in a big market and demand will be high. If they suck people will be giving away tickets. The stadium is not convenient and fans can give up rather easily when faced with the idea of the game taking up a n entire day. Now every team in sports will see tickets go up when they are good and down when they are bad, but thesecon point in each scenario exaggerates that with the Bears.
Living in the Near North/River North area, I'm expecting to have to hunker down this weekend. Protests will be well deserved though if the ruling goes down the way these typically go down.
Man - what a monumental outcome. Never would rejoice in another person having to spend the rest of their life in prison, but justice was served.

Was about to buy tickets and saw they were $415 each. If any of that money went to the players I'd consider it, but no thanks.
Any fine dining places you think I can get a res for less than 30 days out? I got put on the waiting list for Oriole or any fine dining places that have a bar I can sit at and order their full menu
Temporis was just michellin starred so this may no longer be the case, but you can get a reservation there less than 30 days out. It's a very intimate dining room though, so it wouldn't surprise me if they saw an uptick in reservations.
good thing about a first time Star winner. They wan to continue to improve and arent gonna sit on their ass. also the price hasnt gone up yet which is nice
Went to Temporis with some friends including visa on their opening night. It was excellent. A few hiccups in their service which were to be expected the first night, but much better than Elske which opened shortly before and also got a Michelin Star.
Hey Homey's Just found out we are staying at the Holiday Inn in Evanston for the ND @ NU game on 11/3. Looks like it is about 1.5 miles from the stadium. I've never fucked around in Evanston, Any bars/restaurants we should hit? Kick is at 7:30 so we will roll into town about noon. Just looking for stuff to hit before we go scavenge tailgates.
I'll type up a bit when my brain is working a bit better. If you don't see anything tag me to remind me.
Need quick recs for dinner tonight in, or around Rodgers Park for work. Only place I can think of around there is Big Jones. However these people are from the south so thinking maybe not southern cuisine.
Little Bad Wolf (Edgewater) is where I'd go or Hopleaf (Andersonville). Both not Rogers Park but is that closest enough?
It is one of those bar/restaurants that I wish was around the corner from my place. Did you get the burger? That and their beer/cocktail list is top notch.
I got the fried chicken, which was great. Another person got the burger, others at our table got the baos, and someone else got the grilled romaine. Everyone was happy w their meal. The portions are enormous.
Moving* to Chicago in late January for a new job, living with a friend in Humboldt Park. Have spent a little time in CHI over the last year since my sister in law lives in Wicker Park and I just sommed a wine dinner at Langhe Market, but still don't know much about public transportation, non-boozing things to do, etc. *The job is based in Chicago and I'll essentially be commuting from NYC, working four days a week.
Topo Gigio is my favorite. It's authentic. Idk if there's a 'best'. There are a shit load of options.
Those are good suggestions but definitely on the high-end, more fine dining than classic italian in my opinion. When I think of authentic Italian restaurant, only Picolo Sogno is close to that requirement which is way better in the summer vs winter because of their great patio.
Good to hear. We're going to be in town for the Winter Classic, so I went ahead and made a reservation there for our last night. I thought that might be a good low-key experience before flying home in the morning.
The entire Chicago Athletic Association is a cool place. Good rooftop bar (though not as good in the winter), the Game Room is a fun bar and you can always run down and get Shake Shack.
Coming to your great city December 15th, taking my son to the Bears-Packers game. Riding the train in from Ohio, probably going to get into Chicago around 1. Figure I’ll take him to Lou Malnati’s for dinner, maybe walk him to the bean, check out some of the magnificent mile. Sunday will be the Bears game and then our train leaves at 9. Maybe portillo’s for some Chicago hot dogs. Pretty excited for him, hope the weather is decent.
