I admittedly don’t know shit about the specifics on the production process but I’d imagine if any of the raw ingredients or barrels are currently imported it could affect our prices negatively. I can’t imagine we import corn since we have so fucking much of it it’s cheaper to put corn syrup than real deal sugar in most things.
Right, I do know a lot of bourbon producers were counting on expanding overseas markets as a way to offset the slowing US market and this will definitely negatively impact that. That could lead to price increases for us domestically
Looks like they are dropping a couple of Still Austin’s that could be decent. missed the Brook Hill rye in 3 seconds last night.
Unabridged Volume 1. I meant to buy volume 3, but ever tried any of them. David Thomas Tao told me to try this.
Has anyone tried the new EC Toasted Barrel Barrel Proof? One store in town just got a private barrel in, so I'd imagine they will start to pop up more.
I saw a rumor about it recently and just got an email with this. I don't love this store or their picks, so I'll probably wait for a different pick to be released.
Going to stop by the store today. Anyone have an opinion on either of these bottles? I’ve been looking to pick up a couple rare character. All I have left is finished stuff from them.
Yes, buy both for me if they are there. (they won't be) Brook Hill sells out immediately usually and they are pricey. If you can get them at retail they will be around $250-300. They rye is most likely MGP, although I can't see the back and they have been releasing some Kentucky rye lately. I would pass on the rye to drink, but would flip it. You can get great 11-12 year MGP rye from River Roots or Subtle Spirits for a fraction of that cost and you can't tell the difference.
Yep, they were sold out. They were sweet enough to not laugh at me though. Plus side, grabbed another A124.
Not sure if I made good buys or not. Utah has a monthly “Rare & Allocated” day. I don’t drink much anymore, but I like wheat whiskeys and I have generally liked Maker’s Mark products.
Yesterday was OHLQ “single barrel Saturday” with last minute announcements of also having Weller FP and WT 70th anniversary 8 year so went out and came back with these From what I’ve read, I have low expectations on the Caribou but I hadn’t seen it before so it’s something new for my stepdad to try Spent enough or would’ve also grabbed at 4R and EC. Not sure which recipes were at the store I was at. Guy that was near me in line does reviews on YT as Mash & Drum. Was interesting talking to him
Mash & Drum has gotten huge in the past few years. Glad you grabbed a moose juice to try. Set your expectations low and just think of it as allocated Crown Royal. It’s very much not my preferred profile.
Super nice guy. He said people assume OHLQ hooks him up but that even though he’s helped them select barrels, they don’t do shit for him and he has to wait if he wants something. Said he gets sent a lot of stuff but lets them know that if it’s shit, he’s going to call it shit Planning to check out some of his videos
His name is Jason. I’m actually a member of his discord group. I am supposed to send him a sample for his advent calendar shows. Still trying to figure out what to send.
I have a ways to go for that to happen . Also, none of those are for me. They are Christmas presents and for RockHardJawn39 and Leeroy Jenkins!, and probably one for Sam at NEBC. I already had a different run and I have so many 11 and 12 year MGP ryes now I can't even open half of them. Count currently stands at 25 to 111.
Yes, I think that is the one. It is super pricey, so if I don't get it no big deal. Looks like Pappy drop week in NY though. Going to flip this one.
