For a noob tasting I was going to try and send some BP, some finished, some straight bourbon and then some random stuff
Alright I'm doing a sagamore rye store pick I love, Nikka from the barrel, 1792 FP store pick, stagg jr, ECBP, BCS 15 (last years), 4R LE 2019, CoK 12.3, Willet 4 year rye, Russel's reserve store pick, Little Book 3, and Foursquare 2007 (need to spread the gospel)
My boss got a bottle of JR Ewing bourbon as a Christmas gift and I figured that is what happened to the gift giver. He doesn’t drink much bourbon but was excited to get it due to the packaging. Didn’t have the heart to tell him that it was going to be terrible.
Picked up a few bottles today. Just got the Rowans and Noah's because you all recommended it and I wanted to kill a gift card I had. I was more interested in the Barrell store pick, which I hadn't noticed previously. It's a year old and he found it in his inventory. 10 Year single barrel.
So the one thing I am struggling to understand about Barrell is that I know that they source from multiple places. That said, I do notice a similarity to all of these bottles, and it is a positive. All of these bourbons seem to have more of a chocolate flavor to them.
I will ask my local guy. He said he has known the owner of Barrell for a long time and has been selling their stuff since the very beginning.
You can check distillate location on the bottles. Indiana vs. Tennessee. The 15 I think is a blend of both.
Anyone else taste their bottle of RC6 yet? It’s too late and I’m too tired to figure this out, but it’s intense. Going to let this bottle open a bit and try it again. It’s like getting smacked in the mouth with an oak stave coated in brown sugar.
Was at Down One Bourbon Bar in Louisville tonight for a couple drinks....took this pic just for shits and giggles for the thread....
I had GTS at 15 a pour this weekend, think it was 17 for WLW. Pappy was 40 for 23ywar and I think 20 for the 15. Made it easier to stomach not getting any this year.
Great pic! Nice to see Rhetoric up there. The 23 year old is $70/pour. They don’t list there the 25 year old....of which I have several bottles. I’m not familiar with Old Carter. Has anybody tried it?
It’s a lot like Kentucky Owl - expensive (almost $200 retail), not always on shelves but not super rare either, and very good. However, not as good as several bottles you can find for less. The taste reminds me of a less peppery Little Book 3
it does, it’s ABC’s rewards a program in Florida, I’ve gotten two WLW’s and a Weller full proof from it.
Just looked up that program. $500 to get you to bronze level, $1000 to get to gold. What level were yall? I don't live in fl but I buy from abc every so often.
You have to buy quite a bit in order to get to gold, I don’t think it’s in danger of being over saturated
