they check your drivers license when you pick up to confirm it matches the person with the access it has to be picked up in store because you can’t ship liquor in Florida.
Do you get a vault access every month? Just qualified. I got an email when they had Weller. I was told might get an email 2-3 times a year.
I've gotten into scotch, which is pricey so I just buy my bottles from ABC and I'll hit it every year. Go through 4-5 Lagavulin 16s a year and you're already almost 1/2 way. They also have Gin Mare from Barcelona, if you're into gin. $40 a pop but is by far my favorite gin.
I’m not sure how often they do the access, this is my first year in Gold, but I remember seeing others post in here saying they got theirs earlier this month. I felt left out and sad until the email this morning. I hope the purchases from the vault apply to the years points total too.
I know I've seen Little Book discussed a lot here, but is regular ole Booker's worth a pick up, and at what price if so?
To each their own, but I'm not a fan of the one I have. They have a ton of different batches of it, but I'm just not a Beam/Knob Creek fan. Booker's seems to range a bit, but I believe it's usually in the $70-80 range.
It used to be about $50 and then they decided to jack the price up amidst a bunch of rumors that it was going to be allocated. It’s decent, nothing ground breaking.
I'm pretty friendly with a former Tampa location beer manager who was promoted to district manager position. She used to just call me and give me Weller 12 and other random bourbons just because I always took her beer I got in trades. She said to only expect 2-3 emails a year because there are a lot of people that are gold throughout the state.
Beaten biscuits was a pretty well thought of batch. If I saw that at $60 I’d definitely buy it. It’s $80-90 everywhere I see it though.
Grabbed a bottle of Woodford Reserve Wheat Whiskey today. Being a massive Woodford hater, it was a big step for me, but I tried it a couple weeks ago and it's really solid, I'd venture to say the best product they offer. $34.99 in Ohio too.
Gotcha. Saw that label, but didn't notice that part of it. I'll go back this evening or tomorrow because several bottles have just been sitting there.
Booker's was a pretty solid ~$50 bourbon and then once they raised their price, it sits a lot of places now. People are dumb around Cincinnati and buy things just because they're hard to find, which makes it a LITTLE harder to find than some other things, but most places it just sits on the shelf now.
Update: Found out this store does price matching Also found out that they require a receipt from a recent purchase, and you cannot simply pull up the price from another local store that happens to be out of stock...
That is a somewhat strange policy. Go to my competitor and buy something so you can prove to me that the price is true...wait, do you still need it?
Thought the same thing. I tried not being an ass in the hopes of talking them into the online price, but like, why would I be here if I already purchased it?
seriously, if I am only going to get it at the same price that I saw it before I came here, why would I take the trip and pay gas money to acquire it? I wasted time and money. Just stupid.
Store just wanting to take care of their customers and retain loyalty “If you find better prices elsewhere, I’ll match them.”
But they’re forcing customers to buy from a competitor first. After that you may as well stay with option one who wasn’t price gouging in the first place.
Has anyone had any experience doing a private barrel pick? I'm looking to do one for a golf tournament and trying to figure out if it is even possible. I sent emails to a couple companies but on their generic forms I doubt I get good replies back.
getting my brother the Russell's single barrel reserve bourbon for his upcoming bday. Is this a good purchase?
It’s a great bottle. If he’s not a bourbon guy though, it may be lost on him, in which case were you even really that close with the guy anyway?
Dug a little deeper. There are laws that require you to run through a store and there is a lot of competition for the barrel picks. I would need to to Bama ABC and see what picks they are in line for and if they are willing to let me have it. Not super likely
Went to keystone last week for a little vacation and tried this Breckenridge stuff. Figured I’d buy a bottle while out there.
So I figured out my dovetail dilemma. It’s only the 3rd batch, the one bottled at 124.34 proof that I find to taste like complete ass. Just had a bottle from the 4th batch at 125.24 proof and it’s good. Both my shit bottles were from that third batch.
I just want to get him a great bottle. Whether he appreciates it is not my problem. Although it sure he will
Came away with some deals too hard to pass up earlier this AM. I have a Luckys supermarket by the house that’s going out of business so everything in store is 25% off any additional sales prices. The Auchentoshan 21 was $30 cheaper than anywhere I’ve seen with the discount and the belle meades came in at $18/bottle. The contradiction was $36.
