I agree they really sell the picks
made me jump on the Bulleit today when I saw it
Stagg Jr. has been all over the place in my area. Just saw 6 bottles on the shelf for 59.99 a pop.
Need to hit that early and often
Wife and me did a little blind taste test for some v-day fun. Larceny BP, ECBP B519, and Old Grand dad. Both of us independently ranked the EC first followed by the old grand dad. The Larceny I still think is decent but what stuck out is how much the old grand dad holds up, especially for a bottle half the price of the EC.
Yah but I like sweet wheaties.
I’ve tried the B519 now three different times and I just can’t get into it. I’m going to let it sit for a while.
Do you drink it neat? Over ice?
actually I just happened to pick up this conversation .
I am a red candle top fan .
Is this just a preffered taste or form of ingesting or palete preference ?
I am also a fan of apricot -peach barrel blue flame .
I just dislike charcoal crap.
honest question from just a guy ok ?
do you miss the whole concept of privacy to enjoy happy hour your own way .
not like a personal treat your own way , but ?
I actually miss meeting at the bar for happy hour ??
Gubbs I took you for a Goldschläger kind of guy
actually before every other vice , my like for a taste was hard core made easy by girl and amplified with smoke .
first was burbon and nicoteen.
I put a few drops in each eye then snort the rest of the pour.
Add a few drops of water, it will really open up. Maybe you already do that, but I'd highly recommend it. I usually take a sip of my barrel proof bourbons at full strength to get my taste buds adjusted (read: killed), and then add a few drops of water. So many more flavors come out.
Picked up a bottle of Michters 10 year rye this morning. I definitely overpaid, but not awful compared to what I’ve seen. $179 and talked him down from $275. I’m thinking about paying secondary on Blantons straight from the barrel. Has anyone tried it before? Thoughts?
How’s EHT Rye? I’m developing my taste for the higher-rye bourbons and rye whiskies, just not sure how I feel about overpaying at $100 for the EHT product when I’m perfectly content with Sazerac, OF rye, and WFE being all well below that price.
$179 ain’t that bad for the rye tbh
Wish you said something yesterday. Was online in Pa for $70
I know another local store that has it though. Probably going this week and should be about same price. Let me know if you want me to get it for you.
Yes, I Haven’t seen it for close to that. It seems much rarer than the bourbon.
‘Tis for sure
Appreciate the offer, but after thinking about it I’m going to pass. Still able to find Sazerac and Old Forester ($30 liter don’t mind if I do) and they’re good enough for my rye palate.
I find myself wanting to love it but there is something throwing it off for me. Honestly I like Pikesville, and even Michters better.
Thanks for the reminder about Pikesville.
Remind me, feel like you've posted that you can't find it, or you've found it way over priced?
Found it for $50. Hadn’t been doing it very frequently but now that I’ve been looking I’ve found it for $50-60 fairly consistently.
Good deal, I'm not a huge rye guy but I'm a big fan of it.
Store had EHT Single Barrel for $70 and Eagle Rare for $75.
No (unless it was the 1.75L, in that case yes)
$4 eagle rare pours at local place tonight.
It wasn't. I was just super confused by that pricing. Picked up the EHT, laughed at the Eagle Rare.
Just picked this up at the store
Did you ever try those samples I sent? I think I had a willet family rye in there. Can't remember
Not yet, waiting on Degausser to quit dying. Trust me you’ll get a full report when we do.
I am much more excited about dying from bourbon consumption than I have been about my recent dying.
$59, $59, $59. Not a bad Saturday
Should I have bought Willet Pot Still? It was all over Kentucky but the prices seemed high ranged from $48-90 for 750 and saw a 1.75 for $99
Long answer: No
good to know, bottle seemed neat (just to have on the shelf) but never seen it on any lists of good bourbon
Thats the best thing about it is a cool looking bottle.
Purple top willet though....
I’m still only seeing B519, no C919.
Willett pot still is on my all time disappointing list. I just couldn’t get into it at all.
‘Twas one of my first purchases
And my last
it now sits on the counter as decoration only
NYGator I'm having a pour of the CM10.
pre water drops: nose was surprisingly smooth, not as hot as I anticipated. Taste was again surprisingly smooth with a faint taste of apple
post dilution: more candied fruit notes on the nose with hints of vanilla. The finish has jolly rancher apple and light cinnamon.
Really good stuff but I’m also a fan of Alabama style whiskey as it is. I could only imagine how that 11 fares in comparison
Keef Degausser and Love Tractor (not sure who else is in the Atlanta area,) if you're interested in driving to Kennesaw I'll put together a bourbon tasting night for us one of these weeks.
I'm full up with work and doing my MBA right now, but if there's interest I'll definitely plan something for us in early March. I'll sell it to Mrs. Tamland as a doggy play date if you want to bring your good boys over.
And also Keef , I'm sitting on one of those WFE4yr ryes that I picked up last year. So crack yours open and tell me how good it is.
Not a dog owner (yet) but I’ll still taste bourbon. Let me know if it comes together.
Would make for a nice looking infinity bottle.
I've contemplated starting one, but A) I don't like the idea of losing my last 1-2oz into a bottle that B) I've personally mixed and will definitely taste like alcoholic corn asshole, thus reminding me why I pay master distillers to mix batches.
