Cleaning out wife’s grandparents house and found this in the bar. Slightly terrified text: Ezra Brooks 12 years old - 1971 from cow decanter
Picked up some Heaven HILL BiB and OGD114 today. This is whats left on my list of bottles I want to pick up...For now Pikesville Rye Michters Rye Sazerac Rye 1792 Small Batch Woodford reserve double oaked A Midwinter Nights Dram Weller 107
Can’t get either one of the Heaven Hill or the OGD114 in Utah. Enjoy them. I miss having OGD114 stocked in my bar.
Not sure how I let the Russell’s Reserve Single Barrel sit on the shelf for so long. At 110 proof it’s pretty smooth but there’s just enough heat to let you know it’s there
Had some last night after a pretty long time off of it, not sure why I did that to myself, it's such a solid bourbon.
Decided to skip work today and take a trip to Georgia to look for some bottles I can’t find in town. Trip did not disappoint. Overpaid for the Weller 12 and EH Taylor Rye but overall nothing was too absurd.
I went to a solid store in Ft. Lauderdale today. Picked up a belle meade cask strength ($79), cream of Kentucky 12.3 ($149) and a smooth ambler store pick ($19). I passed on the HH BiB, because I just didn’t want to carry all of this home and some of you guys were luke warm on it.
Won a New Riff single barrel recently in the NC bourbon club. For such a young bourbon I was pleasantly surprised, thought it was very solid.
I’m glad they didn’t overprice it too bad. There’s still no beating OGD114 for value, but it’s not outrageous at $50.
Pretty disappointed by the three liquor stores I stopped by in Fort Meyers only things of note were EHTaylor Rye for $139 and Willet Pot Still for $99 I walked out
Just had this: Me: any good bourbons tonight? Clerk 1: not really normally we have 1 or 2 but not tonight Clerk 2: wait is Blantons bourbon Me: yessssss....... Clerk 1: we don’t have any though Me: ohhh :(
First pour of Little Book Ch 3 tonight and man it’s nice. I’m thinking that much like Ch 2, the bottle getting some air will work wonders
It’s a favorite here. Definitely a different flavor profile due to the Canadian whiskey, but has a real nice apple jolly rancher flavor.
It’s well worth it. I was pretty turned off by it when I first opened it but I assumed it was me being dumb and new. But also being dumb and new, I didn’t realize how much a bottle could change when it gets some air. Now it’s a great sipper
