Speaking of, won the opportunity to buy a 14 year MGP distilled by One Eight Distillery from our local bourbon club. Should be getting that in next week, don't know how excited I should be honestly but everything they have picked so far has been delicious so can't imagine 14 year MGP can be anything but.
Speaking of Thanksgiving menus, what are you drinking tomorrow? What are you going to have out for your guests?
my other go to. Found a EHT single barrel there for $79. Also most all of their Buffalo Trace products are right at or just above MSRP. I haven’t seen them with any new shit in awhile though.
MSRP is $60 so not super great but I think that’s the only one I’ve seen in the wild. Usually see small batch overpriced at $69-$79.
Shout out to Buzz and Degausser for asking me to pick them up a 4R OBSF this afternoon. While I was there I wandered by this OF9 on the shelf for MSRP
I'm happy for you and happy for me because I'm tasting that shit when it's ok to be around other humans.
couldn’t resist the Bomberger’s. Owner gave me $20 off. Also Lipp the Gay Liberal i stopped by Giant. Apparently two days ago they got all of their allocated shit in. Pappy 23, 15, BTAC, Weller. Some dude came yesterday and dropped like $7Gs and bought it all. I mean wasn’t going to pay $700 for GTS but still. God damn hoarders.
Honestly, the trash can thing is overblown. 1. They weren’t used trash cans. And 2. Inert plastic seems ideal. Finally, I’m confident that they don’t do it that way anymore anyways.
$159 with discount. I know I overpaid ~$40 or so. but I’ll throw the small business some bones during this trying time.
Their every day 10 year product is a blend of multiple barrels to maintain consistency (like many). The youngest of which is at least 10 years, but to have it taste like they want it to they blend barrels up to 18 years old and bottle it at 100 proof. Their single barrels store picks are just that, single barrels. These could be anywhere from that 10-18 year range. Generally if you're seeing a pick at a much higher proof 115-120+ it's going to be on the younger side. Those 102-114 proof are likely on the older side. Their different items SKUS 10, 12, 15, 18 year could also have different mash bills, different barrel char levels, etc. Mainly if they wanted to sell it as a different year, they would have to register an entirely new label with TTB. Typically they don't go into accounts trying to sell them on the fact that the liquid is significantly older than 10 years old, they let them know after they receive it. We got kind of lucky this year (our first with them) with our samples, 14 of the 10 year barrels I sold the store picked juice laid down early 2003 and another was mid 2004.
I’m having four family members over, all of whom have tested negative this week. edit - and we’re eating outside
If you all get enough people on board, from this thread and others on the board that just want to buy something they can say is super rare and from TMB... I don't think you all are going to want to stop at just one barrel pick. I could see you guys moving through a couple a year, especially if you all agree on which to go with. Plus some could buy one bottle to hold and one to drink which would help sell it. Just something to think about. You all already know how addicting collecting/buying can be.
Brenne Estate Cask. It's an organic French Single Malt that is aged exclusively in French Limousin Oak and Cognac casks. Keef can attest, it's fucking delicious with nothing else like it. You definitely get the taste of creme brulee, bananas foster, and blueberry muffin tops, but great underlying whiskey tastes. Just pulled another bottle yesterday.
Seriously if you guys see this pick it up, extremely flavorful and different than anything else I’ve tasted this year
There are so many inside jokes around here that the stickers and pick name possibilities are endless.
