pperc sent me a Sagamore pick and honestly it’s one of wilder bottles I’ve ever had. Doesn’t even taste like a rye. Just flavor explosions
it was part of the November Weller release. One of my local stores had two bottles on allocation and didn’t know what it was. I bought it before he figured it out.
also the OF single barrel 100 proof that I got of the internet is not a slouch. Think it was a store pick tho. I’d pick it up again for ~$50.

For 59 bucks I think its pretty tough to beat. 132 proof, super smooth and balanced. Just the right amount of sweet.
Anyone ever try Richland Rum? their stuff is really good. small sugar cane farm and distillery in Georgia. you can get their barrel proof rum at the main Richland distillery or at their satellite distillery in Brunswick, GA. it's not bourbon, but drinks like one. thankfully I have a friend that goes to Jekyll 3-4 times a year and he's picking up some more of the barrel proof for me.
Local stop had no new store picks in so just picked up a few regular Buffalo traces. They did have rare breed for the first time ever, so I was excited. Then I saw the $70 price tag and needed Brick’s lighter.
It’s when shops have it up for either full or above secondary that really fucking grates me... I get that they’re in a tough situation with the demand for these products, and I don’t really have an answer other than just move everything to a state-wide or national lottery
The distributors are as big of a problem as anyone forcing stores to buy several cases of product they know people don't want in order for them to have an opportunity to buy sought after allocated bottles.
The market has exploded in the past 10y on a product that needs to sit at least 4yrs on average (but obviously 10-15yrs to be highly desirable.) Demand will eventually level off or more likely decline and there will be a glut. Millions of barrels are aging right now across the country, the future is a big question mark.

My best guess is that the volume being produced and aged will help catch up to demand. However, allocated items like BTAC and Pappy will continue to be extremely limited. There will be more store picks and limited releases, though.
Am I wrong in thinking that there's a significant ramp-up in supply coming? Obviously, there will not be an increase in the traditional allocations (only so many honey barrels in those warehouses,) but other distillers nationwide have been producing (and hence aging) at a higher rate in response to the boom.
Sounds to me like they've pivoted to same limited quantities of the existing brands and just offering new premium limited quantity items.
That said, I kinda think what they did with the Benchmark line is cool for someone with limited exposure and funds to see the different expressions/classifications of bourbon without the knowledge of picking offerings like that on their own.
I’m just glad we’ve got great options under $50 that are easy to find. I’ll let others fight over the $1000 bottles.
Was a successful day looking for bourbon, Found a bunch of stuff I can’t find in Indiana the bardstown discovery Series Early times bib Rare bread rye MB Roland found old carter For $200 and Willet pot still for $42. First time seeing both but passed will probably regret that eventually.....

And Willet Pot Still is cool if you need decoration for your bar. Would make a sweet infinity bottle or varnish remover if you’re into woodworking.
Just poured my BIL a McKenna 10, walked to the bathroom, and heard an audible "oh my god." I like pouring people good stuff.
