It’s really hard to find good stuff on my area, but I stopped by a mom and pop shop and picked out a bottle of Baker’s single barrel, 107 proof. The guy at the counter spoke highly of it after I already paid, so it wasn’t a hard sell. I’ll try it tonight, but wondering what the board’s thoughts are:
Another week, another store pick from my place. I hope they never stop, but this isn't great on my wallet.
Oh you whore. I saw some on fb post they got this and I was disappointed I was not near Athens. Enjoy
Mega got shut down today, I assume because I had some bottles I was going to put on there for tonight. So my loss is The Main Bourbon Club's gain. Anybody interested in trading for some '17 Bouryes? I have 2 available and can get at least 2 more. Also have some '19s at my local store. EDIT: well I guess it's back open. But the offer still stands to you guys since I can get more at my local store
Buck beat me to it. They’re such a great shop based on the *checks notes* ONE sample of their picks that I’ve tried. But they must move some serious volume. Always see their stuff on the secondary.
Every time I see that shop on fb or IG I immediately think of doug. I know I sent him the post for the OF SiB but they have the drops down pat. If it wasn’t so far I would drive down there weekly. Would love to have a single store like that around metro ATL. Most are hit or miss and get good stuff every now and then. But that one is a top store for sure
So I sold my first two bottles on FB. $1650 for a PVW15 and a Michters Toasted Sour Mash local. No hassle and we actually have mutual friends so low pressure transaction. See I told you one day I would sell, lol.
Went back to Blanton’s... it seems as though I’m way too deep into the barrel proofs and cask strengths. This stuff is delicious and super easy drinking... like bourbon water.
I’m having a few people over (all completely outdoors and 10 ft+ apart fwiw) next week for my best friend’s last week in town before going to be a Naval officer. I just realized a couple hours ago almost every bottle I have open in the house right now outside of a couple is higher proof and the other guys don’t usually partake in those.
Absolutely nothing wrong with just offering what you’ve got and teaching them to add a little water. Could be a fun night if it’s guys you’re close with. Also, congrats to your buddy and “thank you for your service” from the The Mainboard board dot com.
1-2 of the guys will appreciate the higher proof stuff, I’ll probably grab a bottle or two of something proofed at 80-90 that’s always on the shelves too. definitely all guys I’m super close with.
BrickTamland did you see Mink’s off Delk Rd is getting an EHT SiB store pick next week? Only down fall is you have to buy 2 Wheatley vodka to get it
The OF1920 was good. That is all. PS It did smell like banana . I thought yall were fucking around about that.
I'm not sure on this yet. It's a little hotter than I expected for a 107 proof. Not as smooth as the Old Granddad 114 or Wild Turkey Rare Breed, at least to my palate. I think it needs to open up a little bit to settle down, so I'll judge it when I get closer to done.
Did they say they were? I know they didn’t on their 4 roses pick. Just had to buy some store pick to get it
i take back the negative things i said about Four Roses single barrel, it's great, there are no issues here
I've never been impressed by Blanton's - at least not once I developed a palate beyond EW Green Label.
How would you describe Parker Heritage ? I see it going for $300+ The 14th edition of Parker's Heritage Collection features Heaven Hill’s traditional rye Bourbon mashbill, aged in specialty barrels that were charred for a full minute and a half, as opposed to our traditional 40 seconds. These "Level 5" barrels were aged for a full 10 years, where the heavier char allowed the Bourbon to penetrate further into the barrel, bringing forth caramel and maple sweetness. These 102 barrels were aged on the sixth floor of rickhouse Y, and developed a pleasant smokiness after 40 Kentucky seasons of maturation. It is bottled without chill filtration at 120 proof.
After a relative cold streak, won a King of Kentucky and a Pappy 20 this week on raffles. Super pumped for the KoK as I’ve never had it before. Honestly this week has been fucking outstanding for several other reasons as well. Good vibes to all, cheers my dudes
