Tons and tons of fruit, surprisingly fruity. Leathery. Love it at the price. If they’d have pushed this for a $70 limited release, I’d say it was just good. Definite pickup for $45.
I’ve only had two of their offerings, and I’d say leathery on both. I’ve had the 91 and 111 proof. Not a big fan of port finished in general so I have never tried it.
I just looked at their list, it’s pretty solid. It’s a shame Pub on Main is closing they had a ton of good stuff as well.
Went to a couple stores in Grand Rapids today Saw a bunch of BT but that’s about it one place had ECBP at $84 and HM10 at $63- lots of both too. Store picks were lame- woodinville, traverse city, and some other young bourbons I passed, bought some Michigan Craft gins instead
If you’re still up there I know a place near the Michigan indiana line that always has eagle rare on the shelf just sitting. Also if you can find a barrel strength traverse city whiskey co bottle it’s normally 12+ Year old MGP. also heard really good reviews on mayor pengree but haven’t tried it yet myself
Sadly I finished mine today and the store finally sold all of them. I do like the normal bottle and the rye as well, and I think all will get better with time.
Earn_Marks visited last night and that was among the many things we sampled. Thought it was outstanding.
K&L wines is selling their last 2 store picks for $50 now. The one I have is delicious so I'll probably get these 2 as well.
Anyone else get in on the SGL Good Times 8 yr MGP drop? Lot's of hype over on that site. I hope the end product is as good as the labels. I did enjoy the Doughboy though.
Oh, since I am newfound Chattanooga fanboy, there is BiB coming this year. Also, the next round of store picks will be various distillates, with one option to stores being a peated bourbon (which sounds gross but I'll give it a shot if I see it.)
I like the normal OF Rye, a barrel strength single barrel version is something for me to look forward to
I assume you guys were in town this weekend? He's a good guy. Shot the shit with him a couple of times as we play golf with the same mutual friends. Any idea when these will drop? I'll be back home for a weekend next month and again in September
Negative, he was down here marketing in Total Wine. I gave him some outside perspective on Chattanooga Whiskey from a casual whiskey fan with a background in business. And nothing more specific than "soon." The barrels are being selected now. Text me when you're heading back to Chattanooga and we'll come up for the weekend. Sounds like a date with you and cheddarisbetter
BrickTamland is there a barrel proof 'nooga? I see it out here on the shelves but haven't gone for it. Sounds like I'm making a mistake and if I buy it we can be friends again?
Their base offering is 91, then they offer the same distillate at 111 as "cask strength." It's a solid buy at $45, but the high-malt mash bill is definitely unique. I haven't tried their rye, but that's getting pretty good reviews also. I avoided them for a while because as soon as I see "Tennessee whiskey," I think Jack and Dickel. This is neither.
Newest store pick at my local store: Not sure if want: Knob Creek Rye, Bottled at 115 Proof, Aged 6 years 1 month, Yield 174 Bottles, Price $52.33+ tax per bottle while they last
Also one of the other stores in town is gonna have a barrel of BT store pick in either this week or next. Will probably hit that up. No bottle limit.
