Stopped by my local store the other day and they had an the Angels Envy private barrel select. Looked interesting and I believe it was 56% or so but they had it priced at $140 and didn’t know if that was worth it or not. Think I read they just started doing those.
Good looking out on this one. Bought 6 of straight bourbon for me and a buddy because I dig it as a daily drinker and it was basically MSRP shipped.
Ditto this, never had any Smoke Wagon so bought two each of the straight and small batch. Tried the small batch last night and it's tasty.
They are all good, and I think the small batch is my least favorite. Smoke Wagon and Smooth Ambler use the high rye MGP mashbill (60% Corn, 36% Rye, 4% Barley). I'm not sure who else uses that as well, but I definitely like the profile.
Want to pick up a bottle of rye for a gift - any thoughts on Pikesville or WT Rare Breed Rye? They're both about 51-55$ here.
I think both are good, I prefer Pikesville. The WT Rare Breed is probably a little harder to find if that uniqueness is a factor.
I was leaning towards Pikesville but the guy has a WT Rare breed bourbon so figured I'd make it a "set" for him. Anyone hear rumors about HH diverting all the Pikesville juice to the Elijah Craig line?
Bought the U/U smoke wagon from that site that should arrive Monday. I’m hoping I didn’t make a mistake in not ordering 2.
When I bought straight it wasn’t. It’s in now if anyone wants some. Use that promo code from above distiller
As soon as the post was linked. I figured people shied away from it because after delivery and tax it came out to $97. The more I’m posting about it the more I feel like a dumb dumb
Ordered a Weller 12 on wine.com for $30 ($50 with shipping). I got a confirmation email and everything. Still skeptical hippo until I get shipping confirmation tho.
Although if you’re hitting Portland, you’re better off sticking to Bissell brothers among other breweries and Novare Res / Portland Hunt and Alpine club or coffee places. Liquor stores - RSVP or Bow Street Beverage. There’s just too much good food and drinking up there.
Stumbled across a place here in St. Martin that has all kinds of bourbons and scotch and have a quick question. They have some Blantons Gold ($140) and the two different proof Blantons that are meant for Japan ($200 and $250). Are those "buy" prices or no? Also, any other hard to find names I should look out for? They also have 1L Buffalo Trace for $20.
So, all of the above? Any others I should look out for? I did notice a bunch of bottles of Very Old Barton as well, though don't recall the price. Also, the Willet Rye.
