Has anyone tried the Dickel 15? I’m kind of tempted to give it a shot for $60... what other 15y old bourbon can you get outside of KC picks?
It’s a pretty steep fall off after 12 years for most bourbon. The only exception being barrels stored at lower floors. Even then you’re playing a tricky game against alcohol evaporation.
Also, same question re the new limited release of rendezvous rye. $70, I’m not eager to jump on that.
I won't buy Bulleit due to allegations that the owner is a homophobe and child abuser (by his daughter). “My father, Tom Bulleit, sexually abused me until I was 18 years old,” Worth said in the post. “It has been my opinion that he is homophobic, but it is a fact that he is a pedophile. Diageo knows all of this and has continued to back this man. From a young age I was touched and fondled inappropriately, posed for photos naked against my will, explicit sexual language was used when communicating with me, and I was shown age-inappropriate sexual media in several forms. I was groomed by all of my parents to never say no to this man.” https://slate.com/human-interest/20...ounder-are-rocking-the-beverage-industry.html https://www.kentucky.com/lexgoeat/bourbon/article234049917.html
Yeah I remember reading about that a while ago, his daughter is a Lesbian now. I just don't like the taste of Bulleit
He said it would be likely between 105 and 107, but this seems a possibility as well especially if we choose the 125 proof barrel. that also makes me feel better about the early price estimate.
Have you had a store pick? They're well-aged high-rye MGP (pretty sure on that one, we've discussed on here previously)
That is the thing that made no sense to me, because these are billed as cask strength. To that point, why would they send samples at a different proof than what you actually drink them at? Who the heck has a palate that can figure that out? Hopefully we don't get these watered down. I took tiny sips of each, and it is going to be rough to figure this out. All good though.
Probably a good idea to try and takes notes straight and with a couple drops of water to cover our bases.
Go buy this now. Really enjoying it and could be my new favorite sub $60 bottle. Great proof, lots of cinnamon and clove, really good balance. Barrel Craft Spirits is proving to be the best blenders in the scene right now.
It’d make a lot more sense that the sample was the final product all of the time. I was surprised when a couple local stores let me try their samples and mentioned that the bottles will be slightly lower proofed
The Mullets rye is better than the bourbon imo. At 60$, I feel there are equally good if not better options out there.
All I’ve come up with is some of the KC store picks at $50 and ECBP at $60 if you can find it. Makers cask strength maybe?
