See I never ate a bandaid but I did chew on baseball glove strings when I was bored in the field and that’s exactly what a lot of scotch tastes like. That plus salt water and then maybe something a tiny bit sweet
The dudes who call it saddle leather tho make me want to slap them in the face open handed. You've never even ridden a goddamn horse ya hipster don't pretend you've been chewing on a saddle in the barn.
but you've smelled a band-aid, right? Lagavulin or most peaty scotches have this flavor, and I am 100% there for it.
Lagavulin . Scotch is so diverse flavor profile wise, it's pretty hard not to find at least a few you like imo. Most scotches aren't heavily peated at all. Like a Glenfiddich 12 is pretty far away from baseball mitt as you can get.
I opened that pick last night, its pretty damn good. If you see the S'mores pick out, please buy them all for me
Glenfiddich is more like kissing cousins with Irish whiskey than it is close to baseball glove scotch.
I’m about to put some of you on a one-page timeout. I’ll listen to all the jock strap tasting notes you can dish out. But I will not tolerate scotch talk in here.
Just received news that we’ve won the opportunity to purchase a bottle of Old Forester Birthday Bourbon ‘20 from the State of Utah. Our first win in the two years of the lottery. Also, today I found Buffalo Trace and Old Elk in a store. First Buffalo Trace I’ve seen here in almost a year.
Been a good past few weeks. First picture is what I snagged over the past month, and the second is my raffle winnings.
I had a pour of it at the Wild Turkey distillery on my bachelor party in August. Its basically, and older, barrel proofed version of the single barrel. So it's that flavor profile turned up even more. I got alot more dark chocolate and oak notes on the nose, in addition to the normal Wild Turkey nose I get (Vanilla, apple, cinnamon, nutmeg, tobacco, and leather). Very oaky on the taste at first, in a good way, that kind of transitions into almost like a pecan pie with extra cinnamon with vanilla ice cream. Finish was ridiculously long with kind of a vanilla tobacco kind of thing going on, with the oak staying around too. Its damn good.
Haha that was the first drink I had that entire weekend, so I remember it pretty clearly. The rest of the weekend, not so much. The bartender gave me free pour when he found out it was for a bachelor party. Really awesome people there. I wanted to buy a bottle here, but people were camped out for days before delivery day. No bourbon is worth that to me.
Do some distilleries sell limited release or allocated stuff at the distillery? Never been to one. Didn't know if that was one of the cool things about going there.
I’m usually a one or two note guy. my favorite note as of right now is barrel char. And I get shit load of it on ECBP B521
Buffalo Trace does, but its random on a daily basis, and there is a limited supply so you have to get to the distillery early. I also got a Balboa Rye at New Riff for going on a tour there. All of the other ones I've been to might have allocated stuff for sample at their bars, but not for sale at the distillery. I think I got pretty lucky with the RR 13.
hello old friends. Big project just went to beta release. CEHT single barrel gonna make my head hurt tomorrow woooo been saving that one
