Had a lunch today for our boy. Wife went crazy on the table-settings and dessert. I went crazy on the food. Mesquite smoked pork, Fuji apple slaw, smoked chipotle mac & cheese, pinto beans w/ bacon & chuck, sage sausage stuffed mushrooms. Lemon pound cake, lemon blueberry cupcakes, lemon gingersnap cookies with vanilla cream cheese stuffing, lemon raspberry tartlets, lemon cookies with white chocolate, lemon bars, lemon cheesecake cups. I mean, wtf? This big boy devoured his plate. Bonus pics of Levi hamming it up Spoiler
I’m really bad at guessing kid’s ages, I assume he’s anywhere from 6 months to 6 years. Is it his birthday today? Spoiler it’s mine!
You did this the right way I took like three pictures during a 6 hour span how were you not so busy to take so many pictures !?
He is almost 11 months. His birthday bash is going to be even crazier. One of our friends takes pictures of everything. He just airdrops us the pics before he leaves.
I have no idea where the lemon assault came from. Drinks were lemonade, strawberry lemonade, and Arnold Palmers... But, all the lemon desserts were amazing so no complaints.
need a guy like that how many people are you planning to have ? What’s on the menu ? what kind of smash cake / pie ?
There were 24 people, table in the tv room for 6 kids. Mesquite smoked pork, Fuji apple slaw, smoked chipotle mac & cheese, pinto beans w/ bacon & chuck, sage sausage stuffed mushrooms. Kings Hawaiian rolls for great pulled pork sliders topped with apple slaw & bbq sauce. Lemon pound cake, lemon blueberry cupcakes, lemon gingersnap cookies with vanilla cream cheese stuffing, lemon raspberry tartlets, lemon cookies with white chocolate, lemon bars, lemon cheesecake cups. I mean, wtf?
Quite the opposite actually. I just like to eat and drink a lot. Way more economical to get good at it and do it at home.
I’m out in Hawaii and my wife’s cousin brought us some fish he caught I had never heard of before called papio. Being in Hawaii I did a mac nut crusted version of it with a mango salad and soy ginger brown sugar glaze
It wasn’t photo worthy but first time making a simple homemade tzatziki to go on a salad with chicken and veggies tonight and it came out surprisingly well. Might be the new go-to healthy salad dressing.
Not picture worthy but still posting a picture. Someone needs to tell me less is more. Mesquite smoked pulled pork hash on german red sweet & sour potatoes. Sautéed jalapeños, onions, & mini sweet peppers. Finished with smoked cheddar, egg over easy, & Secret Aardvark habanero sauce.
Anybody watched high on the hog on Netflix? I'm only one episode in so far but it's very good. All the food looks so good, I wish they gave recipes
Blackened chicken, greens with shallot, caramelized onion pan sauce. Ancho Chile roasted carrots for the table.
Agreed. Only downside is everybody wants me to cook for them when hang out now. I don't mind it occasionally, but I'm not going through the hassle every time. I don't mind cooking, but going to the store and cleaning are a pain in the ass. Funny how they quit asking as much when I mentioned bringing over the ingredients or helping clean up. Lazy ass bitches.
Hash with leftover pulled pork, onion, garlic, pickled jalapeños, scallion. Best hash I’ve made to date. Completely boiled the potatoes before pan frying. Was frying the eggs when I snapped the pic, but who needs to see more over easy eggs.
I just recently discovered it and it's so good. I highly recommend it on eggs. https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/223301/chef-johns-harissa-sauce/
Pan-seared backstrap from Red Stag. Sautéed Vidalias and mini sweep peppers. Avocado, cilantro, cotija, habanero hot sauce.
Is all good as it tasted great. Red Stag is my new favorite red game meat. Knocked Axis & Elk off the top spot.
I've never tasted red stag. Was it farm raised? Just curious because of the praise and how highly regarded elk and especially axis deer are
I got it from a client of mine, he loaded me up with backstrap, burger, & summer sausage as a thanks for getting his pool sorted so quickly after the Texas winter storm debacle. But to answer your question I believe he said it was free range. Like Axis in Texas, they were once all high fenced but it does not take too long for them to start showing up free range after that. I have long had elk and axis as numero uno but this was fantastic.
Clown Baby in here talking smack to make himself feel better about his traditional Memorial Day dinner of Kraft Mac n cheese with cut up hot dogs* *not that there is anything wrong with that meal
