Got a long weekend trip coming up. Want to hit a couple of the classic's while there. Which ones are your favorites? Brigtsen's Clancy's Gautreau's Pascal's Manale Commander's Galatoire's Arnaud's Antoine's Broussard's Brennan's I have a Friday lunch res at Galatoire's. Commander's is booked for the next month but I've done that plenty of times. Leaning towards Brigtsen's, never been there.
probably the only classic i can't miss is mr. b's for lunch at the bar that ends up being with boat captains. gumbo, bbq shrimp, and as many like $1 martinis as you can stomach.
Just found out a coworker of mine is relocating to New Orleans in August (husband is in military). Where should they look to live? She's a HS music teacher and I imagine the husband will be working at one of the bases.
Going to a bachelor party next weekend. We have dinner reservations at Pelican Club and Arnaud's (9 people reservations isn't easy). We are staying on Canal near the FQ, any recommendations for lunch/po boy spots or a good day drinking afternoon place on Friday?
the best po boys are at Verti Marte the best drinking around there is at Lafittes Blacksmith Bar we always snag a table at Lafittes, get drinks, then call Verti to place our food order and someone just goes to grab it and bring it back
Domilise's for poboys if you can get down to the Garden District. Erin Rose's used to have a Banh mi with gulf shrimp that was fire but a quick glance says they don't anymore. Still looks like they've got some good ones tho.
Maybe. I know when I got it they were referring to it as Banh Mi. But this was 8 years ago so idk. I can't remember but I thought it had a bit of pate spread but maybe not. Either way solid spot for being in the tourist trap area.
Just got back from a long weekend. We ate: La Petit Grocery Cafe du Monde Galatoire’s (Friday lunch) Clancy’s Atchafalaya Cassamento’s Peche Willa Jean I’m dead.
We were going to stay at the Lafitte Hotel across the street for a wedding last year, but it got moved to Dallas :(
Heading over tonight. Don't have a reservation anywhere tonight but hoping to get lucky with 2 people. Staying in FQ off Canal. Rest of the bachelor party arrives tomorrow.
Yep. Although it might have been for the best. with the amount of alcohol consumed by the wedding party, I'm thinking at least half don't make it to the ceremony if it's in New Orleans.
Be careful down there, especially when there are only two of you. No side streets and stay aware of your surroundings. My buddy was down there last month and got jumped and robbed by himself at 8:30pm a block off of bourbon. They knocked him out and emptied his pockets. No one helped him.
Can one of y'all slang me bud when I come down for my honeymoon in June? Or will I have trouble finding it?
Is this worth doing 1 day if I have 7 days in NOLA? https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attract...ur_from_New_Orleans-New_Orleans_Louisian.html
I went to New Orleans last summer an i couldn’t walk 5 feet without someone trying to sell me cocaine. Basically the French Quarter smelled like garbage water and good weed
Oh I got mugged as well by like 2 teenagers but I was able to fend them off. Left my wallet at the hustler club and ran down there from the hotel by myself to go grab it (by the grace of some voodoo god it was there). On the way back one kid clipped me and they both jumped on me and started going for my pockets and I just kept blocking them some how. I legit accidentally popped one in the mouth with my elbow and he got up and told the other that they needed to gtfo. went back to my hotel, passed out and then didn’t even remember it happened till later in the day my girl asked how I got scrapes on my arms
Just put it in your checked bag, and only bring what you need. TSA doesn’t give a shit anymore. I just flew from Cali with 6 boxes of edibles and a 6oz bottle of thc lube. I didn’t think twice about it.
Is Jason Bourne fat, drunk and dumber than shit? Because that was me that night. I was getting winded and those kids had like 2 seconds left before I handed them my wallet. also, they weren’t beating me or anything they were just trying to get into my pockets. These were rookies
TC only thing about flying with weedstuffs is you have to keep your vape batteries in your carry on. If they're under the plane in a checked bag they can explode, so they'll see that when they scan your bag and take shit out. But I've walked onto a plane with vapes/edibles/oil/etc. Just not flower. But I've gotten flower through on checked bags.
Bump for going this weekend. Going because Ween is playing 2 nights, got tickets for Friday. Didn't think about it and realize it's jazzfest 1st weekend. Should be a fun few days.
I'm new here and I tend to show up only shitfaced. I chime in and disappear, fwiw. So: I lived in no in the early aughts. To whit, I was handed a toddler by a singer as she walked on stage, she apparently trusted me to watch him while she sang. I did. She was pretty good. I'd now be a tourist of tourists, but I have two 10 year old that play trumpet pretty well. Ones got an hear and into it. Getting kids into a place still possible if you don't know aomebody? To see it, hear it
Can't believe he's only like 35/36. He's bordering on if Hendrix had lived, imo. Production and blending of genres. Like to show them the place but want them to see what music can be
So. I want to misguidedly take some 10 year olds to see what music can be. It wasn't a problem 20 years ago. Will the doorman still let us walk in now?
I'm going to be in New Orleans next weekend. I'm eyeing going to Frenchman Street for dinner and drinks on Thursday night, and the person in my group who was in charge of looking into some options for that night not only isn't going anymore, but did literally zero research lol. I'm working my way through the pages of this thread, but any specific recs for Frenchman?
I went to Bacchanal in Bywater last night and would recommend MtOread Dinner at Herbsaint and ran into James Carville. Quick work trip and it was not long enough. Flying out tonight.
I kind of feel bad for not seeing this until now. A new pizza joint called Margot's opened up in that area. Great natural wine selection and negronis.
did you have to make a reservation? cause there's nothing during Sunday brunch hours for the next 3 months
