OK so some areas of the DFW Mid Cities apparently had an issue where the water meters weren't read correctly and now they're doing a correction so water bills went way up this month and people are losing it and talking about going to the news stations and so on. That's when Dorothy stepped in and got really mad at everyone who doesn't live in Bedford. Spoiler Dorothy McWhorter from Kelmont Park · 3d ago There's nothing to investigate. A call to city hall today simply stated what some in this uproar failed to ask. The city does not employ anyone to read the water meters. It is on a contract basis. A few months ago, the city of Bedford Finance officer noticed discrepancies in the amount of funds being collected for water usage. To make it short. The contract employee was discovered to have been not reading some of the water meters. The contracting company fired the employee. They, with help from the city, have gone back and properly read all the water meters (approx. 400). This months charges are to bring each household up to date on their water bills. These residents have been under billed and this month they are playing catch-up. As a result of this bringing these households up to date on their water bills, the city is waiving the late fees on their payments. To reiterate, the city does not read water meters, they contract this out. Households used water that they did not pay for during this time. They are now being asked on this months bill to pay for the water they used. Jane Schiavoni from Bedford / Harwood · 3d ago Water bill .. 2 observations...(1) should the contract company be held responsible for some of this error and (2) if this occurred over 3 month period, the catch-up billing should be prorated over next 3 months as most are not prepared for such a unusually high bill. Dorothy McWhorter from Kelmont Park · 3d ago I do not agree with your observations. The households that were not paying for all of their water consumption should have called city hall and reported it. That is, ask that their meter be re-read. This would have covered those "unprepared for unusually high bills." But those households (who are protesting) were "prepared" to be silent; hoping the error (not being charged for the full amount of their water consumption) would not be discovered. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to budget each month for your water. When your bill comes and it is below this amount or above the budgeted amount, check with the city. Water rates either went up or went down or the meter was not read or read properly. I believe they have telephones at city hall. Dorothy McWhorter from Kelmont Park · 3d ago Bedford City Hall telephone number is 817-952-2101. Copy of the meter reading contract may be secured under the Texas Open Records Act. Written request may be submitted to City of Bedford City Secretary. Dorothy McWhorter from Kelmont Park · 2d ago Thank you. Morrisdale is located in the city of Euless. City of Euless's water system is not connected to or a part of the Bedford water system. Two different cities. Would suggest he call Euless's Water Department, located in the city of Euless. Dorothy McWhorter from Kelmont Park · 2d ago I do not get a "mailed" bill. To save taxpayer postage I go on line and run a copy off and send it in with my check. There was nothing on my water bill about the "no reading" of meters. There was however, a page attached informing me of the January 1, 2017 water rates sheet. Since I did not get a notice concerning the "underpayment" I assume my area was not involved in the 400 houses that were involved. I would like to make those affected feel a little better by saying I got a water bill once for $600.00 one month and $300.00 the next month. Seems I had a leak (big one) in my sprinkler system. I did not bad mouth the city; upon receiving the first bill, I checked my sprinkler system and found the culprit. Audra Torres from Wilshire South · 2d ago Some of us are confused because we live in Euless, and none of this explains our higher bills. Ms. McWhorter's explanation only pertains to certain individuals on this thread (Bedford residents) and does not apply to the original poster's question. The rest of us are still in the dark as to why our bills have increased so much in the past two months. Dorothy McWhorter from Kelmont Park · 2d ago If you live in Euless, call the city of Euless Water Department. I assume they have telephones in the city of Euless. I was only addressing B E D F O R D households. Audra Torres from Wilshire South · 2d ago I did. While they were not as hostile as you are, they were just as unhelpful. Dorothy McWhorter from Kelmont Park · 2d ago My postings made it extremely clear that I was reporting the facts on some 400 households residing in the city of Bedford. I also gave the source of my information, which was the City of Bedford. Audra Torres from Wilshire South · 2d ago Oh dear, okay. I wrote a song, cause I think sometimes that helps people understand difficult concepts. One bright day in the month of September The specific date I cannot remember I received a bill that seemed quite amiss So I called the city, so they could explain this. The lady was polite, the lady was sweet "Did you water your lawn? It could be the heat" My grass is dead, no toilets are running There must be an answer, even if not forthcoming! She said, no. Everything appears to be fine. Nothing is wrong, the problem is mine. Then I get an Nextdoor email and what do I see? Another lady in Euless has the same problem as me? "Could there be more?" I will sit and wait Responses flow in, like someone opened the flood gate! So many people,so many like me! Just wanting to understand their bill from the city Meaningless banter for you, understanding for me If you tire of this thread, mute it and you won't see I have lost the will to live, I'm weary and tired I have to go back to work or I will get fired Stephanie Henry from Central & Bellaire Park · 1d ago Just got my water bill today, it has doubled! My husband is going to freak when he sees this:( our water usage has not changed. This should be a crime!!! Dorothy McWhorter from Kelmont Park · 1d ago If you live in Bedford and pay your water bill in Bedford, I have given the explanation to the increased water bills at least three times on this website. The city of Bedford's telephone number is 817-952-2101, ask for the Water Department. I am positive they will give you the same information as I have reported. In a nutshell, you are now being billed for water you used over the past 3 months of which you were not billed. It's called, "catch-up."
Is that set to the tune of "American Pie"? Because that's how it sounded in my head. She forgot the hook, though. Try harder next time, Audra.
For the record my water bill was high but it's always high because of my large lot so I didn't even bat an eye

To respond to the post about the garage door. My neighbor programmed his garage door during the day and his opener learned my code and another neighbors code. So every time I come home and hit my opener, his garage door opens. I woke up this morning and went outside and the neighbor had left and it opened his garage door. This has been going on for well over a year. I went over and explained how to fix it and they apparently didn't care.
Yes, but would it fuck up your day And would you be so quick to pay If the bill for your water Was higher than it oughta Be?
TC: "Uh, yes, water department? Yes, I'm calling to contest my water bill this month. I think I should be paying more." Water Dept. Employee:
So my daughter stopped by for a visit to show off her new baby boy aka my grandson. During a quiet time while little Johnny was napping she shared with how she hates all the changing of diapers. With a Fatherly sigh I suggested she write down the word DIAPER and then write it backward. It spells REPAID!! Clearly she did not see the humor in it. Well to alleviate her stress so I asked her to write the word STRESSED down, now write it backward...DESSERTS!!! So we packed up baby Johnny and headed off to Coco's for some pie and ice cream. As we walked out she mentioned how much better she felt..... Ahhh, being a Dad has it's moments....
On the increasing number of rude drivers in our community of 10,000 people. The escalation is worth the read: Ellen, Morro Bay Everyone is in such a hurry to get things done, so much stress these days, time and life is just going so much faster even in our little precious town Morro Bay. I went to Santa Fe, New Mexico for vacation and the same thing was happening there. People honking their horns at drivers, everyone in a hurry, inconsiderate, rude, yelling things out the window. I lived there in the 1990's for 10 years and none of that was going on then. I'm afraid this is our life now so we have to keep perspective of love thy neighbor in our beautiful town no matter what and support each other and just move on but we need to watch so carefully when walking and just assume no one sees you that is driving so you are ready to pay attention. Even yesterday I was driving in Atascadero over towards the onramp of freeway and this man gave me the dirtiest look I've ever seen and I don't think I'll ever get his look out of my mind. He was driving about 5 miles an hour and not paying attention and so I honked since there was cars behind me and I was afraid someone would hit me from behind so I honked. So then he sped up to pass me to give me that look. I keep thinking someone is going to shoot me, lots of these people are tourists here so we don't know what they are capable of. My body is so sick right now from stress from me letting so many people's behaviors and actions bother me because they are being irresponsible, inconsiderate and backstabbing me for their benefit because their life isn't working for them. You don't want to let all this stuff bother you so much you end up having stress reactions like I now have which are infected sores with large elevated red rashes around them that itch horribly. They started out as a small surgery site from a growth the surgeon took out of my leg and another one was a tiny burn from my oven that spread and another one was just 2 little cracks on bottom of my foot from dryness and then there is the heat and sweating from all this and all from stress which is my body's reaction so just try and let things blow off your shoulders and let things go, it's not worth your health.
This response also made me laugh: Crossing MB Blvd. is becoming more of a hazard every day. I see stop signs run - perhaps if MBPD more of a presence (even a parked empty police car!), an occasional ticket, repainting of crosswalks. Saw a crosswalk in Europe with multi-colored stripes - very effective! ---------- Yeah, Caroline. That's exactly why it was painted like a rainbow.
Jim, Morro Bay Ellen, I believe that was me yesterday in Atascadero at the on-ramp. You prefaced this story with a complaint about people honking and rushing, yet you had no problem shoving your fat hand on your horn in effort to scare me. I agree with your stance though - the rude people must go. That is why I followed you home from Atascadero. I will no longer sit back and watch as people like you ruin my precious Morro Bay. You have 24 hours, Ellen. Get packing.
Oh fuck, I was in Morro Bay yesterday. Nice little town you have there PaulKemp . They should really remove that power plant or whatever. Really unsightly being right by that big rock.
you should reply back to Ellen: Yes Ellen, it seems that we're all in a hurry to get things done, people rush and rush until life's no fun. Its sad because all we really have to do is live in die, but everyone's in a hurry and i don't know why.
No shit. What brought you to SLO County? Hope you dropped into The Libertine. Yeah, Im not a fan of the old power plant either. It's been out of commission for a very long time, so I'm not sure what the deal is there. I think the long time residents are attached to it for some reason, or at least they pretend to be. But yeah, life here is pretty perfect... Outside of the maniacal drivers, obviously.
just driving the coast from San Diego to San Fran. Wanted to hit up Libertine badly but am picking battles with my wife. Already hit 4 and want to hit Sante Adairius today so I didn't push my luck.
Right on. Enjoy the rest of the journey, man. I'll have to wander over to the beer thread to check out your trip log. If you guys drive back this way, I very much recommend actually coming into town and exploring the Embarcadero. The bay is stunning (chicks dig it). Perfect view from The Libertine, too. I'll buy y'all a round.
I wish. We are flying out of San Fran in a couple of days so we won't be heading that way. We do have your town listed as one we want to come spend some more time in, along with Cambria, so when we come back, I'll try to take you up on that offer now that I know you are there.
If anyone was wondering, Ruchi passed out floss after all. My awesome 5 year old said "what is this?" with attitude as Ruchi put it in her bag.
This is only relevant if you would bitch when they figured it out and charged you. I think most of us would hope we never got billed but would pay as soon as the bill came.
my neighborhood has been fairly quiet, the only drama was about a month ago a woman wrote an 18 page complaint letter (on her ipad) to the HOA that not everyone had the exact same color deck stain as it would cause property values to drop. this woman shared the letter after she took pictures of her ipad screen with her phone. bickering ensued, then this 60 something widower dropped a fire rhyme on us "Signs, signs, everywhere there's signs, messing up the scenery, breaking my mind, do this don't do that, can't you read the signs. Yes, I know there are rules, I signed something saying I would follow them. No I didn't read them, there's hundreds of pages! I frankly don't have the time nor the inclination to do so. And I have to disagree that different colors have anything to do with property values. There is no evidence to support that claim. "
This post has been edited but apparently a kid took off with the entire bowl of candy this guy set out instead of just taking a piece or handful. This guy Alex has a security camera and so he posts the picture of the kid and makes all kinds of demands from the parents or else he will call the police. People got very upset he posted the kid's pic so he edited his post unfortunately. Here is what remains: Your kid stole all my candy! - Why is this post no longer available? Alex Salazar · 15h ago What the heck? I guess we can pick on the defenseless coyotes, hawks, and the occasional carnivorous deer that steal our cats but not the delinquents who steal our candy from our even more poor defenseless children! Have a great week all!!! - if your child happens to get into any trouble, please don't forget to call me. I also practice juvenile law. Law Office of Alex Salazar, 210-646-4659
You know he did it on purpose, just to brag about working on kid law cases. Bag of candy? Cheap advertising.
what a missed opportunity for him to staple 2"x3" printed at home business cards to each fun size candybar. - "Getting bullied? Want to sue his ass?" - "Getting diddled? Want to tell the local football coach?" - "Fostering a telekinetic girl? Call Me! **sloppily cuts off the bottom half of the name and number so it'd fit**
This is what is going on right now for my area, quoted above because it is the same guy she is referencing below. One of our neighbors, Ron (not mentioning last name) decided to refer to Obama as Obongo in a thread. Thread got deleted after I called him out for it. Here is the definition: (reference: urban dictionary) Obongo A play on Barack Hussein Obama II's last name, citing his roots as a typical Apefrican, bongo beating, bush monkey. Best used when around those who may have a heart attack from hearing the "O" word too many times. WWII Veteran: I spent two years of my life flying B-25's out of Italy just so my liberal, white guilt-ridden grandchildren could vote a damn Kenyan ni**er as Commander in Chief. You: Calm down grandpa, it's not worth raising your blood pressure of that ni**er Oba..err Obongo. There isn't a ni**er on this planet, even the one in the former White House, that is worth a second of your life. If this type of sentiment isn't racially charged, then what is? Disappointed in People like Ron right now. Can we just go ahead and say racism like this should not be tolerated on the nextdoor app whether you like Obama or not?
along with a picture of dog, a little lap something or another the police have been warning to keep an eye on small pets due to a mountain lion spotted, specifically in hsb west but yea Bridget, somebody has her
what a shit show going on, different person: Oh my God get over it. It is a free country. This is exactly why this country is a trainwreck. People like you who judge others. Obongo? Racist? Really? The past 8 years of the Obongo administration have allowed people like you to be able sound holier than though by attaching the words like racist, bigot, misogynist oh a woman hater when a woman is not a feminist. Does it make you feel good to be like that a name caller? It is you who is calling people names. Not the guy who said Obongo. I am a conservative Republican. I am offended by your post and the responses. It is not ok to judge others unless thou be judged too. Just FYI.
